Algood Mayor Nominated BY TML For Mayor Of The Year

Algood Mayor Lisa Chapman-Fowler has been nominated as Mayor of the Year by the Tennessee Municipal League.

Fowler said new gear for the fire department, sanitation department and sewer line testing are reasons for the nomination.

“It really makes me proud that people have realized that I just have a sincere love for all things Algood and to be even nominated in all seriousness, it was very humbling,” Chapman-Fowler said.

Chapman-Fowler said providing new recreation opportunities was also recognized. In the past fiscal year, the first phase of the Algood Park opened and a new farmer’s market was established downtown.

“I appreciate the nomination,” Chapman-Fowler said. “I’m going to jokingly say it’s like the Academy Awards. It’s just an honor to be nominated. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.”

The award winner will be named next week at a conference in Gatlinburg.
