The Upper Cumberland Regional Airport is moving forward with its plan to add a fuel farm.
Engineer Richard Rinks said bids are in for the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport’s fuel farm and they have been granted a contractor waiver. Rinks said the airport has gotten the green light from the Federal Aviation Administration to go forward with everything for this federally funded project.
“The CARES project or whatever you want to call it picked up the state and local share, so it has been a good project and we will move forward and should be ready for fuel tanks the next funding cycle, next year,” Rinks said.
The 2020 CARES Act Grants will provide $10 billion dollars to airports affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This increases the federal share of the Airport Improvement Program to 100 percent.
Rinks said the project is within the budget set by the airport board.
“We will set up a pre-construction meeting and get that project started,” Rinks said.
