Hardin Indicted For Kidnapping Woman In May

A Cumberland County grand jury indicted a man this week for kidnapping a woman earlier this year.

A Cumberland County grand jury indicted George Hardin this week for kidnapping a woman on May 19. Authorities arrested Hardin a week later following a manhunt in Clay County.

The indictment charges George Hardin with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment.

Authorities said Hardin kidnapped the woman at gunpoint on May 19th and drove her to Celina where she escaped later that day. Officers arrested the 57-year-old Hardin following a week-long manhunt in Clay County.

At the time of the incident, Hardin was on parole for a 1990 first-degree murder conviction in Lauderdale County.

Hardin’s arraignment for the charges will take place September 13.
