I-40 Crash Leads to Drug Arrest Near Monterey

A crash on I-40 eastbound led to arrest of a Murfreesboro man for drug possession Monday night.

David Dylan Bell, 19, faces charges of driving under the influence and manufacture, deliver, sell or possess methamphetamine. He was released from the Putnam County Jail Tuesday morning.

According to arrest warrants, authorities responded to a crash on I-40 around mile marker 301. The THP trooper identified Bell as both the driver and the caller who reported the crash.

After Bell gave consent to search the vehicle, the trooper found scales and a pill bottle in a soft-sided cooler containing five bags with 10 grams of methamphetamine.

Bell is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 7.
