Have you wondered why Cookeville doesn’t have a drivers license kiosk?
Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Communications Director Wesley Moster said it’s because there’s already a drivers center.
“Super Kiosks are placed in areas where a drivers services center is not. They’re placed in high volume areas where people who can take care of their transaction without coming into a drivers services center can go to make it more convenient,” Moster said.
If you don’t want to wait in line at the Cookeville Driver Services Center, there are kiosk locations in Jackson, Macon, Overton, Smith, and Dekalb counties.
Moster said the kiosk locations depends on population and volume density demographics. For example, MTSU is a campus location with a kiosk.
“They’re placed across the state at different areas and different venues that have high volume [such as] the library or a college campus [for example],” Moster said. “People can come in and take care of their business without going to a drivers service center, and that’s determined by, on an annual basis, on the best locations to the net base on demand.”
