White County BOE Extends Dronebarger’s Contract

The White County Board of Education has extended the contract of Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger.

Board members voted Thursday to pick up a fourth-year option as Dronebarger’s current deal was set to expire Friday.

Dronebarger said he appreciates the vote of confidence from the Board members.

“I’ve been here my whole career and I want to be here a long time,” Dronebarger said. “I think this timeline snuck up on all of us, so the Board I think has plans in the coming weeks and months to get a new contract put together that will get me some more longevity, and that’s what I really desire. I want to be here and keep moving our system forward, and I’m excited to do that.”

Dronebarger said he wants to continue the district’s goal of academic achievement by meeting the needs of each student and faculty member in the county.

“We want to really dig deeper into our data and know our students better as far as their scores go and how we can move the needle academically,” Dronebarger said. “That’s really my charge and my challenge to our faculty and staff is pursue excellence in the area of academic growth.”

Board members will begin their director’s review Friday with results to be discussed during their next meeting on June 13.
