The White County Library has adjusted its hours after UCHRA pulled three workers from the front desk.
Executive Director Mark Farley said the temporary measure was made due to rising COVID numbers in White County over the last week.
“Those employees are operating under a senior employment training program that we administer, and our national funding agency that oversees that program has issued a directive for those communities that have obtained a certain level of COVID infections,” Farley said.
Farley said the workers can return once COVID numbers drop. Farley said the same action was taken last year and lasted for an extended period of time.
“Other than dealing with COVID infections as everybody else is doing, we’re not under any other orders as an agency to pull workers,” Farley said.
The White County Library is short staffed as a result. The library will now close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
