Authorities confiscated a weapon at Jackson County Middle School Tuesday morning.
Director of School Kristy Brown said the investigation began after the school system received multiple reports about a possible weapon at the school.
“It was immediately investigated and a weapon was confiscated. At this time, the local sheriff’s department is involved and the administrators are cooperating with them,” Brown said. “All students are safe and accounted for and there’s no immediate threat at this time.”
Brown said authorities would release additional information later today.
“Our main concern and priority is always the safety of students and staff,” Brown said. “We just want to make sure that parents are aware that we are doing all that we can to make sure that’s always the case.”
