Funeral services for Ted Franklin Prater, 74 of Sparta, will be held Thursday, September 26, 2019, beginning at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Minister James Rittenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Ted passed from this life Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Ted was born Wednesday, February 21, 1945, in Sparta. He was the son of the late Kenneth and Laurine (Clouse), Prater. Ted was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He worked at Cummins Filtration for 40 years. He loved Fishing and had lots of friends. He is survived by his wife Lois Prater of Sparta; 1 Daughter: Tina Elrod of Pleasant Hill; 1 Son: Hank and Becky Golden of Sparta; 2 Granddaughters: Crystal and Ryan Grasty, Katelin Golden; 4 Great Granddaughters: Kalie and Jada Turner, MaLeah and Lakelyn Grasty. A host of Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Sisters, Sandy Knowles, Regina Underwood, and 1 Brother: Kenneth “Butch” Prater. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, September 25, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

A Memorial Service for Ronnie Wade Davis, 60, of Cookeville, will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 5 pm with Bro. Allan Jones officiating. Ronnie passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 in Cookeville. Ronnie was born July 24, 1959 to John and Betty Sue Davis in Sparta. He is preceded in death by Mother- Betty Sue Davis, and Uncle- Joe Thomas Davis. Survivors include; Son-Kyle John Thomas Davis ( Haley) of Cookeville, Grandsons- Tristan and Andrew Davis of Cookeville, Father- John (Bud) Davis (Lois) of Cookeville, Wife of 28 years- Kimberly Davis, Uncles- Bobby Davis (Janet) of Sparta, Bill Davis (Nell) of Sparta, Edward Phifer of Sparta, and Aunt- Reba Davis of Murfreesboro. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 3-5 pm at the funeral home.

A celebration of life service for Chantel “Alyjah” Gomez, age 18 of Baxter, will be held Friday, September, 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Grove Baptist Church. She died Monday, September 23rd. Her family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Billie Ann Greenwood Hammock, age 73, of Hilham will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, September 27, 2019 from the Holly Springs Church of Christ. Bro. Bruce Mullinix will officiate. Burial to follow in the Holly Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Billie passed from this life after a short illness, on Monday afternoon, September 23, 2019 from the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was born in Hilham on September 26, 1945 to the late Jess D. & Manda Lee Vaughn Greenwood. She was a 1963 graduate of Livingston Academy. Billie was a member of the Holly Springs Church of Christ, and the Hilham Volunteer Fire Department. She loved anything to do with her grandchildren, especially watching them playing sports. Billie loved her flowers and getting up early in the morning before the sunrise, sitting on her porch and drinking coffee. She loved being and talking with her family and going to church. Billie leaves behind her son, Jeff Hammock & wife Lori of Rickman; daughters, Missey Winningham & husband Chris of Hilham, and Melanie Staggs & husband Donald of Monterey; grandchildren, Kylor Winningham, Dylan Winningham, Keleigh, Cade, Cole, and Chloe Hammock, Heather Gentry, Donnie Staggs, Travis Staggs, and Bradi B. Staggs; great-grandchildren, Brianna McKinzie, Grace Gentry, Hayden and Trey Staggs, Klay Winningham, Addi, Staggs, Remi Staggs, Tatum Staggs, and Aubree Shepherd; sister, Thelma Greenwood Burchett. In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carmon B. Hammock; brother-in-law, Billy Burchett, and great-grandsons, Morgan Shepherd, and Kamryn Winningham. The family will welcome friends at Speck Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5 until 9 p.m.. Her body will then lie-in-repose on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Holly Springs Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Doris Rhoten Stafford, 91, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Friday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019, at NHC Health Care in Cookeville, TN. She was born January 4, 1928, in Jackson County, TN, to the late William Carlos Rhoten and Martha Louise Mahaney Rhoten. On July 13, 1946, she was married to John L. Stafford, who survives. She was a homemaker, and also worked in food service. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Garden City, MI.

Funeral service for Robert Carlon Watson age 87 of Stockbridge, Michigan, and formerly of Baxter, will be at 11 AM Saturday, September 28 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville. Interment will follow in Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 surrounded by his family at The Willows at Howell, in Howell, Michigan. Robert Carlon was born to the late Leslie Grady Watson and Mary Sallie Nixon Watson on September 7, 1932 in DeKalb County. In 1951 Robert married the love of his life, Pamela Doris who preceded him in death. Shortly after uniting in marriage they moved to Detroit, Michigan pursuing work with the common goal to build a beautiful life together. Robert Carlon and Pamela Doris raised four wonderful children together during their time in Michigan. In 1997, after his retirement from Livonia Public Schools they decided to head back to their roots and established their farm in Baxter, where they spent the next 21 years together. During those wonderful years he enjoyed spending time with his beautiful wife working together on their farm, raising their goats, caring for their dogs and cats, and appreciating regular visits with family and friends. Together they found a relationship with the Lord and gained many new friendships at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where they became members shortly after returning to Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Pamela Doris Jernigan Watson on September 7, 2018, brother Jim Grady Watson, and sisters Jewel Price, Ruth Wilson, Carlene Helm and Lois Clemons. Survivors include four children: daughter Myra (Hank) DeHerder of Shelby Twp, Michigan, sons Roger (Laura Brown) Watson of Lacock, England, Tim (Kathy) Watson of Somers, Wisconsin, Tom (Jackie) Watson of Stockbridge, Michigan, brother Jim Watson of Baxter, six grandchildren: Hendrik DeHerder, Lindsay (Trevor) Kindlon, Ben Watson, Kathryn (Teo) Watson-Ahlbrandt, Jason (Amy) Watson and Crystal (Wesley) Monahan, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home Friday, September 27 from 5 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Saturday at the church.

Funeral services for Mr. Danny Smith, age 72 of Crawford, will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11 AM from the Shiloh Independent Missionary Baptist Church located in Allred, Overton Co. with burial to follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Allred. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Standing Stone Health and Rehab. Danny Smith was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on November 25, 1946 to the late Clarence E. and Susie (Cantrell) Smith. Danny was a Vietnam Veteran, he joined the Navy and was awarded metals for his service and bravery. He loved his family very much and he will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, September 27th starting at 5 PM until 8 PM, then on Saturday morning at the church at 10 AM through service time. Officiating will be Bro. Benny Sells and Bro. Nolan Cantrell.

Funeral services for Floyd Millis Brown, 83 of Baxter, will be Saturday, September 28 at 2 PM from New Home Baptist Church 10350 Old Baxter Rd., Baxter. Interment will follow in New Home Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Brown died Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 1, 1935 in Putnam County to the late Roosevelt and Martha Ann Ford Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughter Juanita Brown, sister Mable Steele and brothers D.C., Doyle, Arlen and Billy Joe Brown. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving as a military police officer. He was a member of New Home Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and had served as Chairman of the Deacons. He worked at Cookeville Industries for many years and later started and owned Brown’s Welding in Baxter. He also served as caretaker and Trustee of the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery. He enjoyed farming and church activities. He loved spending time with family, especially the grand and great-grandkids. Survivors include wife of 62 years (Married October 13, 1956) Joan Maxwell Brown of Baxter, daughters Beverly (Marlin) Haggard, Karen (Carl) Knowles, son Rick (Tina) Brown all of Baxter, grandchildren: Matt (Brittany) Haggard, Jacob (Erica) Haggard, Kelsey (Dustin) Buck, Noah Knowles, Tia (Reno) Bo, Levi Brown, great-grandchildren: Millie Jo Haggard and Camden Haggard and Daxton Buck due in November and a host of nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 PM and after 12 Noon Saturday at the church. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 10350 Old Baxter Rd., Baxter, TN 38544.
