Funeral Services for Jody Michael Savage, 34, of Sparta will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 6 pm at Sparta First Baptist Church. Burial will be Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery for family and friends. He passed away Saturday September 14, 2019 in Sparta, TN. Jody was born on December 13, 1984 to Mark and Pamela Rogers Savage. He was a veteran of The United States Marine Corps. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 3-6 at Sparta First Baptist Church. Funeral services for Betty Jane Mee, age 70, of Cookeville, will be held at 12 noon Thursday September 19 at Dyer Funeral Home. Pastor Ted Kocher will officiate. Interment will follow in the West Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Jane passed away Monday evening September 16, 2019 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services for Michael D. Dyer, 63, of Gainesboro, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson County. He passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019, at his residence. He was born June 24, 1956, in Jackson County, to the late Carmen Dyer and Marilyn Dyer. He was the owner of Giovanni’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant in Gainesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Richard Dyer; 1 Sister: Karen Dyer; the Mother of his children: Teresa Dyer; and 1 Brother in Law: Carlos Mahan. Survivors include 1 Son: Michael Bryan (Marlana) Dyer of Gainesboro; 1 Daughter: Brittany Dyer of Cookeville; 4 Grandchildren: Nicholas (Kinsey) Lemmons, Michael Ayden Dyer, Ethyn Dyer, and Vivian George; 2 Sisters: Susan Mahan and Sharon (Jeff) Loftis, all of Baxter, TN; 1 Sister in Law: Sherry Dyer of Baxter; and his Best Friend and Business Partner: Jim (Faye) Jackson of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 A.M. – 7 P.M., and Thursday from 11 A.M. until time of services. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice by contacting the funeral home.
Graveside service and interment for Eileen Waller Jernigan, 86 of Baxter, will be Friday, September 20 at 2:30 PM at Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Mrs. Jernigan died Monday, September 16, 2019 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born March 23, 1933 in Putnam County to the late Clive and Mary Ruth Helms Waller. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Haywood Jernigan, brothers Richard Waller and Robert Waller. She was a retired quality control inspector with Detroit Plastics and Molding. She served as a volunteer at Cookeville Regional Medical Center for many years. Survivors include daughter Mary Lynn Haley of Baxter, sons Kevin Henry (Karen) Jernigan of Maryville, Kerry Wesley (Judith) Jernigan of Brandywine, MD, sister Joyce Marie (James) West of Baxter, grandchildren: Wendy (Ricky) Bandy, Casey (T.J.) Overstreet, Kyle (Sarah) Jernigan, Kara Jernigan, Alicia (Chris) Wheeler, Allison Jernigan and Bryan Jernigan, 9 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Rim Academy Annual Fund, P.O. A Mass for Dr. Kurt Richard Eisen, age 61, of Cookeville will be held in his name on Friday, October 25th, 2019 at 8am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Dr. Kurt Eisen, 61, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019, at his home in Cookeville, TN after an extended illness. During his last days, he was surrounded by family and friends. Kurt was born in Seattle, Washington, to Richard and Chloe Eisen. He is survived by his daughter, Anna; his wife, Rita Barnes; mother, Chloe; siblings Nicola McMahon and Elizabeth Stoner; and a loving extended family. He is a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Dr. Eisen was associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and former chair of the English Department at Tennessee Technological University, where he served as an inspiring professor of American literature and modern drama. A selfless colleague, he was known for his talent at combining his intellect with his kindness. He was relied upon for evenhanded service to the university on occasions requiring special attention to detail and diplomatic leadership.
