Mrs. Joyce Drake, 85 of Cookeville died Tuesday in Cookeville Regional l Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

Mr. Rodger Dale Howser, of Cookeville, passed away on his 66th birthday, Monday, May 4, 2020 at his residence. Rodger was born May 4, 1954 in Pikeville, Tennessee to the late Frank and Edith McDaniels Howser. He was a member of the Algood Church of God where he played bass guitar with the Praise Team. Rodger was an electrician with Cherry Creek Electric and avid University of Tennessee fan. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother Jerry Howser; sister LaVada Campbell and grandson Matthew Maynard. In consideration of the health and safety of family and friends, a private family funeral will be conducted at Hunter Funeral Home with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery. A public celebration will be planned once the social restrictions have been lifted. Pastor Steve Moore will officiate.

Ryan Leigh Reed, 36 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020. Ryan was born Tuesday, November 1, 1983 in Cookeville, he was the son of the late Billy Joe Reed and Cheryl (O’Connor) Reed. Ryan was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle. He was loved by everyone that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Ryan is survived by, Son, Corbin Reed; Mother, Cheryl Reed; 2 Sisters, Brandy Reed, and Brittany and Kyle Flatt; Niece, Rylie Tollett and Nephew, Mason Flatt. Ryan was preceded in death by Father, Billy Joe Reed.

John Wesley Pratt, age 72, of Cookeville, met his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning May 3, 2020. John was born June 17, 1947 in Wilmington, DE to the late Olin and Martha Fultz Pratt. He spent his formative years in Nashville, TN. John moved to Tampa, FL were met his future wife Linda Stallings. They married February 1, 1974 and were happily married for over 46 years. John and Linda have two children, Ryan Pratt and Erica Pratt and twin grandsons, Joey and John all of Cookeville. He is also survived by a sister, Vivian (Steve) Wallace of Lakeland FL. John was a journeyman electrician working in commercial buildings and surgical service with AMSCO/Steris in Tampa. After moving to Cookeville, he continued as an electrician with Powerhouse prior to retirement. John was an active member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and was involved as a youth teacher, food delivery, and other ministries. He was a well-rounded Christian man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed older cars and trucks, and he could fix anything. He was an especially kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Stevens Street Baptist Church, 327 W. Stevens Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.

Mrs. Dorothy Marie Selby, age 82 of Sparta, passed away Sunday. She was born January 9, 1938 in Flatwoods, Kentucky. She attended the public schools of Greenup County and was a graduate of Greenup High School. Dorothy and her husband James moved to Sparta, TN in 1973 to own and operate Al-Mar Market in the Cassville community for several years. In 1978, Dorothy joined the team at Citizens Bank in Sparta where she worked for over 25 years. After retiring from the bank, Dorothy worked with her family at Buds and Blooms Greenhouse in the Cassville community where she was able to work in her passion of growing flowers. Mrs. Selby was an active member of Gentry’s Chapel Church in Cookeville, TN. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 at Life Care Center in Sparta, TN. She was preceded in death by her Husband, James A. Selby, mother, Charlene Colegrove Wellman, and father, Gerald Colegrove. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Allen (Vonda) Selby of Sparta, TN, Marty (Rose) Selby of Mt. Juliet, TN; four grandchildren: Trey, T.J, Sutton, and Jordan Selby; brother, Gene (Carolyn) Colegrove of Claxton, TN; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Due to Covid-19 measures, the family will have a private graveside ceremony at Plainview Cemetery in the Cassville Community.

Graveside Memorial Services For Larry “Lurch” Goodeon, Age 78, Of Livingston, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted At The Welch Memorial Cemetery. He Passed Away On Sunday, May 3, 2020, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Dr. Jerry Huffman Will Officiate. Mr. Goodeon Was Born On January 23, 1942, In Chicago, Illinois, To The Late Alexander And Norma Plan Goodeon. Mr. Goodeon Passed Away On Sunday, May 3, 2020, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Goodeon Was A Law Officer For Many Years Serving As Former Chief Of Police Of Monterey In The Early 1980’s. He Worked At Avco In Nashville And Was A Boat Mechanic With The Sportsman Center In Livingston. He Was A Member Of Monterey First Baptist Church. He Is Survived By, 4 Daughters, Jackie “Jay” (Johnny) Hawkins Of Livingston, TN, Tammi (Greg) Young Of Baxter, TN, Natalie (Brian) Carlile Of Cookeville, TN, Brandy (Jamie) Romines Of Cookeville, TN; 1 Son, Scott (Nancy) Goodeon Of Cookeville, TN; 1 Stepdaughter, Kristy (Lee) Wilson Of Clarkrange, TN; 13 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; And 1 Sister, Diana Walsh Of Chicago, IL. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By His Wife, Wanda Goodeon; 2 Grandchildren, Cody And Angel; And 1 Sister, Phyllis Carlson.

Graveside Funeral Services For Lois Harris, Age 90, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted At The Welch Memorial Cemetery. Bro. Eric Welch And Bro. Tim Singleton Will Officiate. Mrs. Harris Was Born On November 7, 1929, In Overton County, To The Late Price And Maude Moore Hargis. Mrs. Harris Passed Away On Sunday, May 3, 2020, At Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Harris Had Worked With Fleetguard And Ely And Walker. She Was A Member Of Monterey Church Of Christ. She Is Survived By, 2 Daughters And 1 Son-In-Law, Wilma Harris Of Monterey, Marsha And James Wood Of Murfreesboro; 1 Son And Daughter-In-Law, Arnie And Vondia Harris Of Monterey; 10 Grandchildren, Keith McCloud, Terry Bullock, Anita Pippin, Eric Welch, Kevin Welch, Rachel Welch, Stephanie Harris, Jason Harris, Joshua Wood And Julie Land; 7 Great Grandchildren, Kaitlyn Pippin, Ethan Welch, Nathaniel Welch, Hannah Welch, Russell Welch, Mollie Grace Wood, Addeline Wood And 1 Due In October; And 1 Sister, Regetta Dickens Of South Carolina. Graveside service and interment for David Hilman Frizzell, 78, of Cookeville will be Thursday, May 7 at 1 PM at Cookeville City Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Bro. Clarence DeLoach will officiate. Mr. Frizzell died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 27, 1941 in Putnam County to the late Neely Young Frizzell and Etta Nerine Franklin Frizzell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Young Frizzell. He was a retired handyman in the construction industry. He attended Westview Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

Graveside services for John William Allen, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 1:00PM at Maxwell Cemetery. He was born October 14, 1935 in Jackson County, Tennessee. He was the son of Richmond Allen and Vallie (Johnson) Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Hilda (Taylor) Allen and one sister Ann Ruth Chaffin and brother-in-law Robert A. Chaffin and Delton Fields. He is survived by Daughter and Son-In-Law: Cindy (Paul)Downs; One Grandson Paul William Downs (Shiane), One Sister Alettha Jane Fiends. He Lived in Dearborn Heights, Michigan where he retired from Chryslet Corp then moved back to Baxter, TN in 1983 where he attended Bethlehem Church of Christ. Before his health declined, he enjoyed having friends over to play instruments and attended local bluegrass music events.

Graveside service and interment for Donnie Neal Lindsey, 57, of Sparta, formerly of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 11 am in Cookeville City Cemetery with Bro. Jason Graham officiating. Mr. Lindsey died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 4, 1962 in Putnam County, to Thurman Lindsey of Cookeville and the late Ila Franklin Lindsey. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, April Lindsey. He was a mechanic. Donnie is survived by his father, Thurman Lindsey; a daughter, Melanie Lindsey; four brothers, Danny (Kim) Lindsey of Algood, Ron (Soc) Geesling of Montana, Ronnie Lindsey and Bruce Geesling both of Cookeville; five sisters, Kathy Ann Johnson and Patricia (Raymond) Rodgers of Cookeville, Pam Alexander of Algood, Rita Dobbins and Barbara Croker of North Carolina.

Graveside funeral services and interment with honors provided by the TN Nursing Honor Guard for Mrs. Judy Lynn Flatt, age 63, of Bloomington Springs, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday May 9 at Double Springs Cemetery. Randy Bybee, Mark Loftis, and John Nichols will officiate. She passed away Tuesday evening May 5, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born June 4, 1956 in Detroit, MI to Joan Loftis Dyer of Cookeville, and the late John Loftis. Judy was a lifelong nurse and caregiver. Her career spanned more than 38 years, serving others at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and the Outpatient Rehab Center. Even beyond her job and after retirement, she cared for people. She volunteered with Restoring Hope, Sycamore Elementary School, and the former Upper Cumberland Hospice. Judy was a member of Pippin Church of Christ. She was a selfless Christian example to her family and friends. Her family and especially her grandchildren were the center of her life. In addition to her mother, she is survived her husband of 43 years, Dale Flatt, whom she married June 10, 1976; son, Sean (Hillary) Flatt of Cookeville; daughters, Kasey (John) Nichols, Kayla (Dalton) Satterfield of Cookeville; grandchildren, Josiah, Silas, and John David Nichols, Zane and Pate Flatt; brothers, Mark (Tammy) Loftis, Alan (Angie) Loftis, all of Cookeville, and Steve (Pat) Loftis of Seneca, SC; mother-in-law, Jewel Flatt; sisters-in-law, Linda Loftis, Linda (Don) Randolph; step-sister-in-law, Martha Dyer, step-brother Russell (Janet) Dyer, special cousin, Sandy Jacobson, and special friend, Marsha Stockton. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Loftis; father-in-law, Aaron Clifford Flatt; step-father, Paul Dyer; and step-brother, Bob Dyer.
