Mrs. Marie Irene Trubee, age 73, of Cookeville, TN, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at her residence. She was born on August 31, 1946 in Mattawa, Ontario to the late Adllard Joseph and Dorothy (Dobratz) Bellerose. She worked in production at Flow Serve, loved going to the Senior Citizen’s Center, and was a Loving Woman with a Big Heart, with just as big opinion, Just Saying!! A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. The family ask In Lieu Of Flowers, donations be made to the Senior Citizens Center.

Family graveside service for Shirley Faye Hanna, age 84, of Cookeville, TN, will be held Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery at 11am with Bro. Tim Frank officiating. Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. Ms. Hanna passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at Heritage Pointe Assisted Living after an extended illness. She was born Shirley Faye Cravens to the late Boyd and Sadie Cravens in Jamestown, TN. Ms. Hanna graduated from York High School and from Tennessee Technological University with a degree in Education. She was a kindergarten teacher at Jere Whitson Elementary School for 26 years. She loved the hundreds of children that began their education in her classroom over those years. Shirley, or “Mema” as she was lovingly known by her grandchildren, was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working tirelessly in her yard and growing beautiful flowers. She was an awesome cook, and shared her delicious food with her family and friends. Shirley loved reading and would collect children’s books to donate to local schools. Shirley accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior on Easter Sunday Morning in 1998 at Stevens Street Baptist Church (SSBC), where she was baptized and became a member. She worked for many years with the sweet and caring ladies sorting donated clothing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the SSBC Care Center. These ladies and the time she spent serving there were so special to her. She was an active member of Joyce Gentry’s Ladies Friendship Sunday School Class family and friends with Mary Tollett’s Class. She served in numerous annual mission trips to Montana, participated in Keenagers, and was a greeter at SSBC. She is survived by her three children: Kyle (Kim) Hanna of Cookeville, TN, Michael (Kim) Hanna of Cookeville, TN, and Kathy Hanna of Cincinnati, OH. Her grandchildren include Kourtney Hanna Smith (Dustin) and great-grandson, Caleb Smith of LaVergne, TN; Kandace Hanna Matheney (Justin) and great-granddaughter, Maci Rae Matheney of Cookeville, TN; Emily Hanna (Alex Ristau) of St. Louis, MO and Scott Hanna (Elizabeth Grim) of Knoxville, TN. Other family members include sister-in-laws: Yvonne Meadows, Bonnie Hanna, Ruth Cravens, and Connie Cravens, as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to “The Wow Bus”, checks should be made payable to Putnam County Board of Education with “The Wow Bus” written on the memo line, 1400 East Spring Street, Cookeville, TN 38501 or to the Care Center at Stevens Street Baptist Church, 327 West Stevens Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.

Memorial services for Mr. Willie Arnold Price, age 76 of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday May 14 at Trinity Algood with Mike Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time. He passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the age of 76. After several months of declining health, Arnold died peacefully with his beloved wife Frances and their children, David Price and Shannon Price-Herron, by his side. Arnold was born in the Timothy community of Overton Co., TN on November 14, 1943 to father William Bransford Price and mother Larue Holman Price. As the youngest of three children, Arnold didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He helped out on his family’s small farm and worked any odd jobs he could find, starting at an early age. His work ethic was evident. Through his endeavors, he purchased a property that would later become home to his wife and family. He married Frances Beatrice Curtis on December 22, 1965, after running into her that summer at Echo Valley Swimming Pool. They dated briefly and were married at the Jackson County Courthouse. Honorary pallbearers will be Cotton Bilbery, Jimmy “Red” Robinson, Morgan Herron, Greg Clark, Roy Loftis and Mark Loftis.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Margaret Boles, age 81, of Livingston will be conducted 12 noon, Thursday, May 14, 2020, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. Nick Turner will officiate. Burial to follow in the Hilham Cemetery. Martha passed from this life on Thursday, May 7, 2020 from St. Thomas West in Nashville. She was born in Cumberland County on July 21, 1938 to the late Buford & Ila Copeland Hawkins. Martha was a 1956 graduate of Monterey High School and a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed fishing, watching the Price is Right, and loved her family very much. Martha leaves behind her loving son, Jeff Boles of Livingston; sisters, Mildred Turner & husband Doak of Rickman, and Maxine Russell of Algood; nephews, Eric Turner & wife Amanda, Nathan Turner & wife Sharohn, and Russell & wife Tina; niece, Gwen Tays & husband Mark; special friends, Leon & Opal Dale. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Boles. The family will welcome friends on Thursday morning from 11 a.m. until time of services at Livingston Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Mr. Clarence E. Groce, 83 of Cookeville, will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Wolf River Cemetery in Pall Mall. The family will have a private family viewing. He passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee with his wife and daughter by his side. Born Sunday, March 28, 1937 in Albany, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James Robert Groce and the late Gertie Honeycutt Groce. Clarence was retired from Tennessee Technical University Farm with 33 years of service. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, farming, and gardening. He won several ribbons with his entries at the Putnam County Fair. He also grew feeder pigs, winning championships and blue ribbons with them. He attended Knight’s Chapel Free Will Baptist. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Jennings Groce of 61 years, daughter, Sandra Gothard and husband Tim of Cookeville, TN. Grandsons Wesley Gothard and wife McKenzie of Manchester, TN, and Andrew Gothard of Cookeville, TN. Three sisters Mary Lowhorn and Freddie, Fances Fergurson and Gary, and Ruby Lowe all of Albany, KY. He also has several neices and nephews.

Burial to follow in Beaty Cemetery. Mrs. Pierce passed from this life on Monday afternoon, May 11, 2020, from her residence. She was born in Overton County on April 27, 1942, to the late Richard Landsen and Mary Veatrice Winton Smith. She enjoyed traveling, NASCAR racing, and mowing her yard. She loved to watch UT and Titans football and listening to country music. Mrs. Donna Sue Pierce leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years Larry Pierce of Monroe; brothers Kendal Smith, Richard Smith and wife Sue, and Larry D. Smith and wife Thelma all of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her brothers Randel Smith and Ronald Smith and sister-in-law Georgia Padgett Smith. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith “Evie” Marie Phipps, age 76 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday May 15 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro Mike Adams, Bro. Harold Walker and Bro. Eugene McCowan will officiate. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Edith passed away Monday morning May 11, 2020 at her home.
