Norma Hess, age 87 of Cookeville, passed away on Saturday March 27, 2021 at her home. Arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Miss Mary Frances Holman, age 90 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021, 2pm, from the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Bro. David Holman officiating. Internment will follow in the Lafever Cemetery. She died on Monday, March 29, 2021, at The Cumberland House in Crossville. Born Wednesday, October 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John LaFever and the late Altha Wright Lafever. Surviving are sons Ray (Belinda) Holman, Jack (Cindy) Holman both of Cookeville. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM until the time of service at Presley Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service and interment for Mrs. Asylee Eugene Hulme, age 92 of Cookeville and formerly of Jackson, will be held Thursday, April 1 at 10:30 a.m. at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis. Rev. Don Davidson will officiate. Mrs. Hulme died Thursday March 25 at Morningside of Cookeville. She was born October 28, 1928 in Madison County, TN to the late William Chester Baker and Eunice Goodrich Baker. She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky where she met her late husband, U.S. Army Colonel and Methodist church minister, John Hulme. Asylee was a devoted and supportive minister’s and military chaplain’s wife. She served alongside side her husband in many churches as they lived in many states and countries. She was a gracious host who entertained many dignitaries and prime ministers with her kindness and culinary skills. She was a pianist who enhanced her husband’s services in many of their churches. She was hospitable to all. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Hull of Mineral Hills, TX. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Jackson (TN) First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Funeral Services For David Ray Delk, Age 86, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Thursday, April 1, 2021, At 11:00 AM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Bro. Michael Waters And Rev. Nick Turner Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Whittaker Cemetery. Mr. Delk Was The Oldest Of 11 Children Born On February 28, 1935, In Jamestown, Tennessee, To The Late Noble Rutherford And Betty Enola Whited Delk. Mr. Delk Passed Away On Monday, March 29, 2021, At His Home. Mr. Delk Had A Strong Work Ethic And Went To Work At The Age Of 13 As A Paperboy In Monterey. During High School, He Worked At Looper’s Service Station And Bought His First Car At The Age Of 15. During The Summer Of His Junior Year, He Went To Work In the Automobile Factory In Detroit, Michigan, And Then Returned To School At Monterey High School To Graduate With The Class Of 1954. After Graduation, He Was Employed At General Motors – Cadillac Division In Detroit, Michigan, For 15 Years. He Moved His Family Back To Monterey In 1968 And Worked For 25 Years At Middle Tennessee Natural Gas As A Service Technologist. He Was Also Involved In The Community As An Alderman For The Town Of Monterey For 8 Years. He Retired At The Age Of 58 And He And His Wife Enjoyed Many Road Trips Across The United States To Visit The Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls, And The East Coast. He Was An Avid Gardener And Baseball Fan; Enjoying Especially The Atlanta Braves And The Detroit Tigers. He Loved Old Cars And Restored Several After His Retirement. He Was Involved In Family Genealogy And Loved Sharing Stories About The History Of The Family. He Attended Monterey Assembly Of God. He Was Known As A Man Who Loved His Family And Was Devoted To Them And Also As A Man Who Helped Others. He Is Survived By His Wife Of 66 Years, Bernice Looper Delk Of Monterey, TN, Who Was His High School Sweetheart. They Began Sitting Together At The Movies In The 8th Grade And Eloped To Rossville, Georgia, On December 25, 1954. For Over 70 Years, She Was Always His Sweetheart. He Is Also Survived By 1 Daughter, Dr. Melinda (And Blake) Swafford Of Monterey, TN; 2 Sons, Bobby (And Judy) Delk Of Baxter, TN, Eric Delk (And Christi Hacker) Of Monterey. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, From 5:00 PM Until 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services with full Military Honors for Oplis (Blackie) Flatt, age 95 of Bloomington Springs, will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday April 1 from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with burial in the Crestlawn Cemetery. Brother James Bowlin will officiate at the service and family and friends will service as Pallbearers. Mr. Flatt passed away March 26 at the Tennessee Veterans Home in Murfreesboro. He was retired from Automation Tool Company. He spent his retired years farming and researching his family history. He was also a member of Bloomington Springs Church of Christ and a World War 11 veteran in the Army Air Corp. Oplis was married to the late Betty Marie Flatt who passed away on January 27, 2021. He is survived by two sons, Gary and wife Dean Flatt, Randy and wife Linda Flatt of Cookeville; and Daughter, Sandra Martin of Baxter. In Lue of Flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11:00a.m. until time of services at 2:00pm.
A Funeral service for Andrew Jack Walker, 80 of Cookeville, will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 1 at Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Brown officiating. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Walker passed away on Monday, March 29 at home with his family. Jack was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed his time walking at Cane Creek Park and would walk up to four miles at times. He and Kathy enjoyed going to Dolly Wood and spending time together. If there was a way to make you laugh he would do it. Jack is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathy Sparks Walker; daughters, Jennifer Walker

She was born March 23, 1938 in Jackson County, TN and she passed way on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at her residence at the age of 73. She was the daughter of Elmer Esters Hammock and Stella Mae Stafford Rhoten. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was married to Charles Ward Scott who passed away on December 1, 2019. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Rivera of Ontario, CA, and Davenna J. Weathers of Trona, CA. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cravens passed from this life on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was born in Cullman, Alabama on December 28, 1972, to Dennis Mosley and Linda Collins. Bobbie enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She loved trips to the lake and enjoying the water. Mrs. Cravens leaves behind her husband Terry Cravens of Livingston; mother Linda Collins of Luling, Texas; father Dennis Mosley of Monterey; daughter Ashley Paul and husband Wade of Cookeville; son Andrew Bledsoe of Livingston
Memorial Services for Dalmas Clark Bussell, 60 of Sparta, will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 6 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Justin McCulley officiating. He was born Friday, December 9, 1960 in Sparta. He was the son of the late Melvin and Joan Brasel Bussell. He loved to fish and was a gun enthusiast. Survivors include his Wife, Jeanne Masters Bussell of Sparta; daughter, Megan McGuire (Shawn) of Sparta; and son, Joshua Austin of Sparta. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial services for Deborah Ann Scott, 64 of the Whites Bend community of Jackson County, will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Miss Scott passed away on Monday, March 22 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1956, in Jackson County. She was a factory worker at Crotty, and a member of the Assembly of God. Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Erik) Pryor Baxter of Mt. Juliet. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 10 from 11 A.M. until time of services.
A celebration of life for James Michael “Bobo” Borden, age 64 Of Cookeville, scheduled for Sunday, April 18th at Hidden Valley Golf & Country Club from 2pm-4pm. Mr. Morgan passed away on March 24th at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Michael was the General Manager of Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club for many years. He was also known as “Mr. White Plains” for the years he spent there. He was happiest on a beach, a golf course or watching the Florida Gators. He once asked the doctors if they were having trouble finding blood that was orange and blue. He was known for his sense of humor, funny one-liners and the stories he liked to tell over and over again. He was a big-hearted guy who touched many people’s lives with his kindness and generosity. He loved his family and his dogs and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Cristy; Stepson, Josh McDaniel; and his daughters, Kelli (Charles) Norris and Amanda Borden.
