Obituaries For Wednesday, June 5
Harold E. Hutchings, age 79 of Sparta passed away Tuesday Evening, June 4, 2019 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Graveside services and interment for David Wayne Fairfield, Sr., age 70, of Cookeville will be held at Shipley Cemetery on Thursday, June 6th at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Mr. Fairfield passed away Thursday May 23, 2019 at Bethesda Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 28, 1948 in San Bernardino, CA to the late Lawrence Paul Fairfield and Marion Frances Smith Fairfield Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ray Fletcher Fairfield, whom he married on December 31, 1970; daughter, Tricia Fairfield-Sharpe; grandchildren, Roger Todd (Amy Martin) Hixson, Jeffrey Ray Hixson, Lawrence Paul Hixson, Kayla Netherton, Jennifer Lynn Hixson, Justin Stewart, Heather Fairfield, Jessica Fairfield, Zachary Fairfield, and Michael Fairfield, and Justin Stewart; twin brother, Michael Fairfield; and 12 great-grandchildren; and two “sons” Michael and Matthew. Other special grandchildren include Travis McPherson, Zac McPherson, Travis Knight, Steven Stewart, John Coucher and Kurt McCoucher and aunt, Donna Jimenez. Mr. Fairfield started at an early age in the tire business with his father. David was the owner and operator of Fairfield Truck & Tire Service following his days as a re-capper. David also worked as a AAA Mechanic at Tile Industries. After moving to Hawaii, he was involved with the Line Riders as an ordained minister. His love for the deep sea led him to being one of the designers of Black Bart Lures.
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Stafford, 85, of Gainesboro, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County. She passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. She was born November 8, 1933, in Jackson County, to the late James F. Brown and Margie Ann Brown. On June 16, 1951, she was married to the late Eugene Stafford. She was a factory worker at Heavy Duty and Crotty, and was a member of the Free State Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 Sons: Bobby Gene Stafford and Danny Lee Stafford; 3 Brothers: Edward Brown, Joe Clyde Brown, and James Leonard Brown; and 1 Sister: Doris Meadows. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Brenda Peek of Gainesboro; 6 Grandchildren: Toni Scantland, Amy Avent, Heather Stimits, Daniel Stafford, Matt Stafford, and Andy Stafford; 10 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Albert Brown of Gainesboro; and 1 Daughter in Law: Kim Stafford of Gainesboro. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 P.M. – 9 P.M., and Thursday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Service for Mrs. Henrietta Tollison Monnier, age 90 of Sparta, will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Thurman Funeral Home in Sparta, and officiating will be Bro. Ron Phillips. Interment will follow in the Elrod Cemetery. Mrs. Henrietta passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at NHC in Cookeville. Mrs. Henrietta was born September 15, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Arthur Mehay and Louise Langur Mehay. Henrietta is survived by her three sons, Randy (Janet) Tollison of Sparta, Rick Tollison of Sparta, and Pleas (Buck) Tollison of Cookeville; one brother, Gene Mehay of Michigan; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Monnier of Crossville; one son, Frank (Eddie) Davidson of Sparta; two brothers, Art Mehay and Jewell Mehay of Michigan; three sisters, Mary Duckett, Alberta Prebee, and Hellen Mehay of Michigan. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home in Sparta from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm.
Memorial Services for Ms. Peggy McArthur, 86, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, June 7, at 6:00 pm at Dyer Funeral Home. McArthur died Monday, June 3, 2019 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta, TN. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Brother Mark Teason will officiate.
Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Delores Chilton Taylor Smith, age 77, of Jackson, and formerly of Overton County, will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Randy Pickens will officiate. Burial will be in the Fellowship Cemetery. Mrs. Smith passed from this life on Tuesday morning, June 4, 2019, from Forest Cove Nursing and Rehab Center in Jackson. She was born on September 5, 1941, to the late Marshall and Berta Wright Chilton. Helen leaves behind her son Marlon Taylor of Jackson; brothers Billy Chilton and wife Danya of Allons, Bobby Chilton and wife Ann of Allons, and Denny Chilton and wife Elizabeth of Allons; sisters Diane Ferrell and husband Bruce of Plano, TX; granddaughter Olivia Chappell and husband Jerel; great grandson Pierce Chappell; sister-in-law Lydia Chilton; and aunt Willa Wright. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Helen Delores Smith was preceded in death by her first husband Marion B. Taylor, second husband Varney Smith, and brother Ricky Chilton. The family will welcome friends on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.
A funeral mass for Mrs. Catherine Springer, age 99 of Sparta, will be held Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2pm at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Mrs. Springer passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born Friday, December 19, 1919 in Westerville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Albert Skees and the late Minnie Bryant Skees. She was a member of St Andrew Catholic Church. Mrs Springer enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Surviving family members include the following: son – Bill Springer and Lucy of Kentucky; daughter – Elaine Stankiewicz and Bob of Pennsylvania; son – Leslie Springer and June of Sparta; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; 3 great-great-great grandchildren; sister – Virginia Raffoele of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, Mrs Springer was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Springer; daughter, Loretta Swank; grandson, Hugh Springer. The family will receive friends Monday, June 10, 2019, from 11am until 1pm in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St Andrew Catholic Church.

Jim,born July 3, 1944 in Cookeville, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend passed away into the arms of our Creator God the Father June 3, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center Hospital. He was a retired Army Veteran and was awarded 2 Purple Heart medals. He was dearly loved and will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife Donna Moore and his three daughters Sarah L Moore of Texas. Kathrine Harris and her husband Randy Harris and Rebekah Wilson and her husband Robert Wilson. Eight grand children Sasha Moore, Tyler Cross and his wife Katrina Cross, Ashley Reynolds, Levi Colwell and his wife Elaina Colwell, Stephen Real and his fiance Jade Tripp, Michael Harris, Mary Harris and eight great grandchildren Mackenzie Reynolds, Bobby Lee Reynolds, Destiny Reynolds, Paisley Reynolds, Aden Colwell, Harmony Cross, Atticus Real and the soon to be Miss Melanie Colwell. He and his family attended Hamptons Crossroads Baptist Church of Cookeville for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Moore and Edith Robinson; and his brothers, Warren K Moore and Gene Moore.
