Mr. Ronald “Dean” Spurgeon, age 81 of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday evening, June 2nd at his residence. Arrangements for Mr. Spurgeon are incomplete.
Mr. Hullett Byron Parrott, Jr. “Bob”, passed away Monday, June 1st, 2020 at his home. Bob passed surrounded by his family. Bob was the son of the late Hullett Byron Parrott, Sr. of Shelbyville, Ind. and the late Lou-Viney Parrott of Indianapolis, Ind. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Lou and Mary Lynne Parrott. He is survived by his Wife: Teresa Faye Parrott; Daughter Melissa Woodman and Son-In-Law Harvey Woodman, Jr; His Son: Officer Byron Parrott and Daughter-In-Law: Hope Parrott. Mr. Parrott choose to be cremated, a full Military honors memorial is planned for a later date.
Memorial services for Mr. Darrell Wayne Malcolm, age 65 of Smithville, will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Lighthouse Church. Thomas McCulley will officiate. He passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his residence. Darrell was born November 27, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. He worked in maintenance at Union Carbide. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was also a coin collector and a fan of Elvis. His true joy was visiting his mother and bringing her gifts. Darrell is preceded in death by his father Ray C. Malcolm; sister Debbie Seibers; brothers Ted and Billy Malcolm. Survivors include his mother Ruth M. Maxwell Lee of Sparta; Brother: Clayton (Yolanda) Malcolm of Mishawaka, Indiana; Sister: Robin Malcolm of Sparta; Step-sisters: June (Willard) Bennett of Geneva, Ohio, Jenny Mills of Cleveland, Ohio; Step-brother: Jack Malcolm of Charlotte, NC. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
Funeral services for Selena Martha Shellenbarger, age 20 of Cookeville, will begin Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Dodson Chapel Cemetery. She passed away suddenly Saturday May 30, 2020. Friends and family are invited to come by Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to sign the guest book and pay their respects. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. He passed from this life on Monday, June 1, 2020, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. Amos was born Sunday, November 10, 1935, in Gainesboro. He was the son of the late Amos Spurlock and the late Sally (Yates) Spurlock. Amos was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He had a special talent for yard sales and loafing. Amos was known for his sense of humor and love of books. He attended Willow Avenue Church of Christ for many years. Amos was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Amos is survived by, Wife, Belle (Loftis) Spurlock; 3 Children, Don and Marcia Spurlock, Randy and Patty Spurlock, and Sherree and Jere Hawkins; 5 Grandchildren, Elizabeth (Hawkins) Wright and Harold Heffner, Chad Hawkins and Carrie Hewitt, Edward and Pamela Spurlock, J. Sam and Parisa Spurlock, and Hallie Spurlock; 2 Great Grandchildren, Steven, and Emma Spurlock; 2 Sisters, Ruby Rose Carter, and Vivian Langford. In addition to his parents, Amos was preceded in death by, 4 Brothers, John William, Buford, Olen, and David Spurlock. Burial to follow in Bethel Cemetery. Ms. Greer passed from this life on Tuesday morning, June 2, 2020, from Mabry Rehab Center in Gainesboro. She was born in Clay County on December 12, 1954, to the late Jimmy and Maggie Key Greer. Bessie enjoyed crocheting, loved her little dog, enjoyed the activities at Mabry Health Care, and always looked forward to spending time with her family on visits. Bessie leaves behind her sisters Sada Gore and husband Brent of Livingston and Marie Rich of Red Boiling Springs; brothers C.B. Boles and wife Patty of Celina and Thomas Greer; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Greer was preceded in death by her step father O.B. Boles and sister-in-law Donna Greer. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 12 noon until time of services at 3 pm.

He passed away Tuesday, June 02, 2020 in Sparta. Donnie was born on November 03, 1953 in Sparta, to the late Clarence and Veda Henry Gentry. Mr. Gentry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, he also loved working with his horses. He was a truck driver for White County Concrete in Sparta for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his Wife- Emily Ruth Gentry, Brothers- Carl Gentry and Erb Gentry, Sister- Ruby Usrey and Brother-in-law- Carl Henry. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. He passed away Monday afternoon June 1, 2020 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born Monday October 7, 1935 in White County to the late Charles Lynn and Mary Irene Gribble Slagle. Charles Dean was of the protestant faith. He was a retied lineman with AT&T with over 34 years of service. Following retirement he worked a number of years in real estate in Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Media Frances Ramsey Slagle who died May 31, 2017; daughter, Rosie Rocks; and two infant brothers. Survivors include daughters, Karen Slagle of Daytona Beach, FL, Mary (Spouse Wendy) Slagle of Belleville, MI, Connie (Dennis) Grondin of Montgomery, IL; son, Charles (Joyce) Slagle of Newport; several grandchildren and extended family. Wilmouth Road in Rickman, TN. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at his sister’s residence. He was born July 13, 1966, in Wayne County, IN, to the late Carl Louis Fetzer and Joyce Ann Robbins. He was a truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Sister: Torri Yvonne Robbins. Survivors include 1 Son: Clayton Carl Fetzer; 1 Daughter: Adrienne Marie Fetzer; and 2 Sisters: Bonnie Lou Smith and Meichelle Yvonne Knight. Brother in law Robert Smith also survives. Jerry was born Wednesday, June 14, 1961, in Sparta, Tennessee, he was the son of Loyd Walker and Betty (Martin) Walker. Jerry was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He never met a stranger, he was loved by everyone that knew him, and he will be greatly missed. Jerry is survived by, Wife, Carlena Walker; Daughter, Brittany Howell; 2 Grandaughters, Raegan and Maddux Howell; Father, Loyd and Linda Walker; Mother, Betty Walker; Sister, Sherry Walker; A host of special friends.

Sandra grew up in Huntington, West Virginia with her parents, Willis and Anna Porter. She worked in the nursing field for many years. She loved arts and crafts and her Barbie Doll Collection. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Dale Clary. She is survived by: Husband Roger Dale Clary; Daughter Christina Lynn DeWeese (Kelly).

Sigrid was born on May 3, 1944 in Boxburg, Germany to the late August Lindner and Hildegard Lindner Kifer. Sigrid studied in Lebanon where she earned a Masters Degree in Theological Studies. Sigrid later became a contracting officer negotiating several high profile contracts between the United States and Germany. She received several awards of recognition of excellence in her field. Sigrid spoke seven languages and could write in five. She was very knowledgeable about health and medicine. Sigrid loved to cook, sew, travel, read and entertain. She loved life and everyone in it. She never met a stranger and would help anyone with her gracious heart.
