Obituaries For Wednesday, July 22

Private Family Services for Steven “Steve” Wayne Denton, 71 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, July 23, 2020 with Bros. Joel Hillis and Roy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Steve was a loving son, husband, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He attended Antioch Church of Christ for many years and was very faithful. He loved walking horses, attending horse shows, and participating in the showing of the horses. Steve and Jean were known to be a loving couple who were always at each others side. He was known for his giving heart, always helping and serving others when he knew there was a need. Steve was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ralph Douglas Boles, age 70, of Mulberry, Florida and formerly of Overton County will be conducted 2 pm Thursday, July 23, 2020, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Rev. James Shenko will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 11 am until time of services at 2 pm at Speck Funeral Home. Mr. Boles passed from this life on Sunday evening. He was born on October 26, 1949, to the late Gerstal and Zella Kate Stafford Boles. Mr. Boles leaves behind his sons Michael Douglas Boles, Timothy Ray Boles, Zachary Boles, and Steven Boles all of Florida; daughter April Kate Whitsell of Kentucky; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters Hellon Moss and Donna Speck & husband Thurman both of Rickman; sisters-in-law Carol Boles Coleman & husband Rodney of Florida and Jackie Boles of Byrdstown; aunts Addie Matthews of Livingston and Etta Morgan of the New Hope Community; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Ronald Carl Smith, age 70 of Cookeville, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday July 24 at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Fr. Eric Johansen will officiate. Interment will follow in West Chapel Cemetery in the Fairview Community. His family will receive friends Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measures will be observed. Ron passed away Saturday evening July 18, 2020 at his home. He was born June 29, 1950 in Hamtramck, MI to the late Joe Freeman Smith and Lottie Helen Osak. Ron was supervisor at Allied Signal in Torrance, CA for 18 years. He moved to Cookeville in 1993 and opened American Safety Products which supplied local factories with OSHA compliance and personal protection products. He later was employed as a bus driver for the Putnam County School System prior to retirement. He enjoyed interacting students and facilitated older students helping with younger students during bus trips. He is survived by his wife, Marian Brown Smith, whom he married in 1984; son, Jerry Smith; step-son, Cody Spear; sister, Maryann (Richard) Bailey of Torrance, CA; three brothers, Gary Smith of Corona, CA; David (Brenda) Smith of Columbia, TN, and Dale (Celia) Smith of Gainesboro, TN; grandchildren, Presley Kay Spear and Jared Smith Redford. Pallbearers will be Cody Spear, Darrell Kutchin, Steve Crawley, Shane Bates, Tanner Summs, and Alex Thurman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Care Fund at CRMC, One Medical Center Blvd. Cookeville, TN 38501.

Graveside services for Mrs. Sue T. Malone, age 87 of Livingston will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 11 AM at the Cookeville City Cemetery in Cookeville. Sue worked as a bookkeeper. She was loved by her family very much and will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends at the 11 AM Graveside.

Funeral services for Mr. Jackie Lee Brown, age 61 of Livingston, will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Overton Co. Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 24th starting at 12 Noon up until service time. Officiating the service will be Bro. Nolan Cantrell. Survivors include his significant other, Mitzi Pennticuff; 2 Stepsons: Logan and Thomas Pennticuff; 1 Stepdaughter: Hailee Pennticuff; 1 Sister: Wilma Wheeler; 1 Brother: Robert Brown; 1 Niece: Jane Wheeler; 3 Nephews: Bobby Brown, Donnell Brown, David Wheeler; other family members and friends also survive.

Memorial services for Nettie Ruth Frizzell, age 77 of Cookeville, will be Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 2 PM. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. She was born June 12, 1943 in Cobb Hill, KY and she passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center at the age of 77. She was the daughter of Lonnie and Sarah Susan Watson Lee. She was a LPN. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by contacting the funeral home.
