Birgit Kuban Austin,75, of Sparta, passed away Monday, November 04, 2019 in Sparta, TN. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Herbert and Emma Reuter Kuban. She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include; Daughter- Deborah Austin (Charlotte) of Sparta, Son- Rockwell Austin of Cookeville, Husband of 20 years- Roy Austin of Bluffton, SC, Grandson- Wilson Ervin, Granddaughters- Anna Ervin, Olivia Ervin, Mary Alice Ervin, and Delilah Austin, Sister- Karin Kuban-Scheel ( Wolfgang ) of Frankfurt, Germany, Brother- Gerhard Kuban (Doris) of Nauheim, Germany, and Special Friend- Patty Dronfield. She will be remembered as a good friend, hard worker, and for her love of travel. A memorial Service will be held on a later date.

Funeral Services For Tom Roberson, Age 89, Of Monterey, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, At 11:00 AM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Thorton And Rev. Bobby Floyd Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Sand Springs Cemetery. Mr. Roberson Was Born On February 18, 1930, In Monterey, Tennessee, To The Late Emery And Hattie Miller Roberson. Mr. Roberson Passed Away On Saturday, November 2, 2019, At The Livingston Regional Medical Center. Mr. Roberson Was Owner/Operator Of Roberson Logging. He Was A Member Of Full Gospel Assembly. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Tuesday, November 5, 2019, From 5:00 PM Until 8:00 PM.

Funeral Services for Eric Lynn Luna, 55, of Sparta, will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 2 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Alley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full Military Honors. He passed away Nov. 3, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Eric was born October 28, 1964 in Sparta, TN, to Ollie Gene and Myrna Faye. Staff Sergeant Eric Luna was a retired veteran of the Tenn. Army National Guard with 21 years and 7 months of service to his country. He began his military career at the McMinnville Armory as a medic then transferred to the Sparta Armory as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO).6 months after having major brain surgery he served overseas for several months in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 278th Armored Calvary Division to stand along side his band of brothers to help fight for the freedoms that we all have today. Prior to his military service, Eric worked as a CNA at NHC of Sparta and NHC of Cookeville and in home health care. At times he worked three jobs at once to provide a better life for his family. He was dedicated to God and was a member of Doyle Church of Christ. He enjoyed preaching the gospel and loved studying the Bible. He never met a stranger and you could always count on him for anything. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed being outdoors in the mountains. He loved his family with all his heart, and he was a great example for his children. He loved his grandchildren and his smile would light up a room when they were all together. He had a great sense of humor and would always pick on you. To know him was to love him. He was a strong believer in showing that he cared. He was good to everyone he met. Eric believed that if you love someone you should show and tell them every chance you’re given, and you could always count on him for a warm hug. He was a true example of a “God, Country and Family” man. He will be truly missed.The family will receive friend on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 3pm to 9pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home and on Wednesday November 6, 2019 from 8 am to 2 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

Memorial services for John Douglas Cartwright, 62 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019, beginning at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with John Steven “Bo” Mullins, Sr. officiating. Mr. Cartwright passed from this life Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his home in Cookeville. He was born Wednesday, October 30, 1957, in Cookeville, he was the son of the late William Frank Cartwright and the late Rubie Peake Jernigan. He was a loving Father, Grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, sitting on his porch and watching the fire pit, and would help people in any way he could. Mr. Cartwright is survived by 3 Sons and 2 Daughters-in-law: John D. Cartwright Junior and wife Crystal of Cookeville; Ricardo Cartwright and wife Amanda of Cookeville; Joshua Frank Cartwright of Cookeville; 1 Son: Jeremy Davis of Cookeville; 1 Daughter: Victoria Guess of Cookeville; 9 Grandchildren: Cyan, Hailey, Braylin, Kiya, and Lee Cartwright, Dylan and Devon Payant, Chase and Dillon Roberts. 2 Brothers: Charles Wayne Cartwright, Earl Ray Cartwright; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cartwright was preceded in death by, 1 Brother: William Floyd Cartwright. The family will receive friends at the funeral Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.

Funeral service for Mrs. Byrnie Ruth Gilmore, of Monterey, will be held Wednesday, November 6th at 3:00 p.m. at Monterey United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Whittaker Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time the church.

Funeral Services For Haskel Melton, Age 81, Of Monterey, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Thursday, November 7, 2019, At 11:00 AM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Glen Jordan Will Officiate. Mr. Melton Was Born On March 28, 1938, In Overton County, Tennessee, To The Late Sherman And Martha Mae Hollars Melton. Mr. Melton Passed Away On Monday, November 4, 2019, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Melton Was A Laborer Working Various Different Types Of Jobs. He Loved Gardening, Beekeeping, Flowers, Chicken Trading, And His Dog. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By 2 Daughters, Cindy Melton And Sherry Howard; Grandson Rodney Boronda; Sisters, Katherine Garrett, Pearl Beaty, Lucille Clark, Wilma Braddock; And Brothers, Carl, Dewey, Earl And Dalton Melton. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, From 5:00 PM Until 8:00 PM.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. William Gerald “Bill” Fish, age 61, of Rickman will be conducted 6 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2019 from the Netherland Church of Christ. Bro. Mark Loftis will officiate. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 4 until time of services at 6 p.m. at the Netherland Church of Christ. Military Honors will be provided by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. Bill passed from this life on Friday morning, November 1, 2019 from the VA Hospital in Nashville. He was born June 23, 1958 in Stafford Springs, Connecticut to Margaret “Peggie” Louise Esty Fish Carey Fujczak and the late Gerald Fish. Bill joined the ROTC, and graduated high school in 1976 in Germany, then getting his associates degree. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran having served during Desert Shield, Desert Storm and multiple tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. He was in the 82nd Airborne Division and retired from the Army after serving 35 years. Bill was an incredible family man who put others before himself. He had a passion for the arts, and was talented in many of them from drawing, to woodworking and carving. Bill was a meticulous 3-D model artist, welder, and problem solver. He was affiliated with the Netherland Church of Christ. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, the Mayflower Society, William Brewster Society, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Combat Veterans helping other Combat Veterans.

Memorial service for S.T. Nash age 79, of Baxter, will be held on Saturday November 9th from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the Nash Grove Baptist Church. Bro. Gary west will officiate at the service. Mr. Nash was born on October 22, 1939 in Putnam County to the late Lilburn and Ella Dunn Nash. He passed away on Sunday October 20, 2019 at His residence in Baxter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: Wife: Julie Bilyeu and Infant Son: Joey Nash. His family includes 2 Sons and a Daughter in-law: Greg and Kathy Nash of Baxter and Marty Nash of Baxter; 1 Daughter and Son in-law: Donna and Brian Henry of Lenoir City; 2 Sisters: Lila Johnson of Baxter and Mary Ellen Donaldson of Cookeville; 7 Grandchildren: Rebecca Herron, Jaden Nash, Jacie Nash, Erica Nash, Joshua Russell, Jeremy Russell and Chloe Henry; 2 Great Grandchildren: Ella Russell and Kylie Pearce. In Lieu of Flowers Donations may be made to your Local Animal Shelter.

A memorial service for Mr. Charles W. Kibbons, Jr., age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, November 13th at 3 p.m. at Cookeville First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Kibbons died Saturday afternoon, November 2nd at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
