Mr. Harris Passed Away On Friday, November 22, 2019, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Harris Was Retired From The Monterey Water Treatment Plant. He Was A Putnam County School Bus Driver. He Was A United States Army Veteran Serving Tour Of Duty During The Vietnam War. Funeral Services for Nancy Gail Wallace, age 59 of Sparta, will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 27, at Thurman Funeral Home. Interment at Mt Gilead. She passed away on November 24, 2019 at her residence in Sparta, surrounded by her loved ones. Nancy was born in Spencer, Tennessee to the late W.D. and Hassie Bradshaw on January 24, 1960. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in the chapel of Thurman Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Patsy Ruth Maxwell, 83 of Cookeville, will be Wednesday, November 27 at 1 PM at Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Samuel Maxwell Cemetery in Baxter. Mrs. Maxwell died Monday evening, November 25, 2019 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. She was born June 15, 1936 in Cookeville to the late John William Judd, Sr. and the late Arlie Huddleston Judd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harry L. Maxwell on October 19, 2016, sisters Eugenia Huddleston, Carolyn Holloway and Elizabeth Ann Judd Smith Huddleston, a brother John William Judd, Jr. She was a member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church. She retired as circulation manager at the Herald-Citizen. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Pam and Ken Schmitt-Matzen, Sandi and Jim Cannon , son and daughter-in-law Doug and Leslie Maxwell all of Cookeville, sister Jean Whitaker, brothers and sisters-in-law David and Maureen Judd, Dale and Dean Judd and Charles and Mildred Judd all of Cookeville, grandchildren: Stephanie (Bryan) Morgan, Charlotte (Brian) Hollingsworth, Aaron (Ashley) Schmitt-Matzen, Joshua ( Cassie) Schmitt-Matzen, Macey (Josh) Crouch, Taylor (Davis) Warner, Winston Cannon, Scott Maxwell, Morgan Maxwell, 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Betty Martin Stanton Neely 91, of Cookeville, TN will be conducted Wednesday, November 27, 2019, 1pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Visitation shall commence at 11 am and continue to 1 pm, at which time services will be conducted by Brother Joe Roberts. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Cookeville. Serving as pallbearers are Robert Stanton, Jess shipley, Gavin Bartlett, Dylan Shipley, John Alex Bilbrey and David Cheek. Betty Neely departed for heaven Friday, November 22, 2019. She was peaceful and surrounded by her loving family, the dedicated, faithful team of Bailey Manor, and the special caregivers of Avalon Hospice. Betty was born April 23, 1928 in Baxter, TN. To Kemper Martin of McMinnville and Florence Johnson Martin of Baxter, TN. She attended Baxter Seminary and graduated from Cookeville Central High School where she played basketball for the legendary Eddie “Jelly” Watson. Betty was a pioneer in the landscape industry in the 1950’s and 60’s, providing design-build services throughout Middle Tennessee, executing residential and commercial projects.
Funeral services for Master Liam Alexander Gunnels, 1 month old of Cookeville, will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial in the Overton Co. Memorial Gardens. He went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2019. Liam Alexander Gunnels was born in Cookeville, Putnam Co., TN on September 27, 2019 to Tifford Lee and Virginia Lee (Miller) Gunnels III. His parents and his 3 big sisters dearly loved Liam very much. Master Liam will never be forgotten. Mary passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on October 27, 1938, to the late Paul V. Lahey and Ambelina (Reaggini) Lahey. Mary was the loving wife of 28 years to COL Arthur (Sonny) C Weber Jr, USAF (ret). They were married on July 20, 1991, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a member of Life Church in Cookeville, and her faith as born again Christian gave her joy, strength, and peace every day of her life. She enjoyed eating out, spending time with family and friends and reading. Mary is survived by her husband, Arthur; sons, Russell Nunes of Swansea, MA. Richard Nunes (Kathy) of Bellevue, Florida, and daughter Judi Whiteaker ( Mike) of Cookeville. She also leaves behind 3 step-children, Samuel Weber Captain (P) US Army( Sheila) of Alexandria, VA., Angelica Weber of Cookeville, and Cathy Weber of Germany. She was a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Carolyn and Ann Lahey.

Deborah passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born February 10, 1957 in Smithville, Tennessee to Jerry Moore of Smithville and Donna Montgomery Moore of Baxter. Deborah was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Harvey and Effie Montgomery, and Thomas and Lillie Moore; uncle, Mike Rhoten, aunt, Sharrion Rhoten, uncle, Glenn Montgomery. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sons, Daniel Maynard and wife Brandy, Keith Maynard and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Kylie Maynard, Isabella Maynard, Ruby Maynard, Lilly Maynard, Daniel Maynard and Regina Maynard; sisters, Renee Burton and husband Terry, Rosalind Sewell and husband John; brother, Gary Moore and wife Coralee; her fiance, Charlie Smith and many cousins and nieces. He passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 in Sparta. He was born at St. Thomas Highland Medical Center in Sparta on January 23, 1949 to the late Jessie and Willene Brown Anderson. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a man of many traits, his favorite was truck driving, but the job he loved most was being a Dad to his children and Pa to all his grandbabies. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by; Brother- Eddie Anderson, Sister- Pam Quaves, and two infant brothers. Survivors include; Loving wife of 39 years- Gail Anderson; Sister- Wanda Vinson (Jerry) of Tullahoma; 4 Sons- Carl L. A reception for Earl Ray “Hutch” Hutchison, 93 of Cookeville, will be held at the Golden Eagle Golf Club, 1500 Country Club Lane, Cookeville, from 1:00-4:00PM on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019. “Hutch” died at his home in Cookeville, TN on Sunday, November 24, 2019. Hutch was a professor and the Director of Communication Program at Tennessee Technological University. He brought diverse experiences to the classroom and his writing. He was, for example, an arc welder for General Motors and ran a cattle farm for 10 years. He also served five years in three infantry divisions, (30th, 24th and 82nd), as a rifleman, platoon leader, and a jumpmaster. Hutch then entered college earning a BA at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MA at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Ph. D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has also been an assistant editor on a weekly newspaper, an assistant editor on a small daily newspaper, and a general assignment reporter on a large daily newspaper. He is the author of Growing up on the Illinois Prairie During the Great Depression and the Coal Mine Wars; Writing for Mass Communication; The Art of Feature Writing: From Newspaper Features and Magazine Articles to Commentary of Mass Media and the Law: Freedom and Restraint. His television play, TKO, was produced by CBS and also broadcast on the Eastern Seaboard Television Stations. More than 3,000 of his news stories, features, reviews, and articles have appeared in newspapers and magazines. Hutch is succeeded by his wife, Olivia Ross Hutchison, his son, Earl Ray Hutchison Jr., Ray’s wife Dulce and their three daughters, Leilani, Heather, and Jessica.
