Funeral Services for Mr. Neil W. Martin, age 87, of the Fellowship Community will be conducted 7 P. M. Tuesday, May 7th, from Independence Community Church. Bro. Shane Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery at 9 A.M. on Wednesday, May 8th. Mr. Martin passed from this life on Sunday morning, May 5, 2019 from the comfort of his home. He was born Overton County on February 7, 1932, to the late Wellman and Cora Pierce Martin. Neil loved his wife, children, and grandchildren very much. He enjoyed working on old cars, hunting arrowheads and ginseng, fishing, and being outside. Neil leaves behind his loving wife, Carolyn Brown Martin of the Oakley Community; daughters, Wanda Stephens and husband Phillip of Cookeville, and Janice Cooper and husband Joe of Livingston; sons, Steve Martin and wife Angela of the Oakley Community, and Matt Martin and Andrea Rogers of Livingston; and grandchildren Weston Stephens, Clint Cooper, Heath Cooper and wife Savannah, Katie Martin, Evan Martin, Leah Martin, Graham Martin, and Carmen Martin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Neil W. Martin was preceded in death by his brothers Brice Martin, Buel Martin, Gene Martin, Pat Martin, and Jimmy Martin and sisters Hilda Tomlinson and Maxine DiVito. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday afternoon from 4 P.M. until time of services at 7 P.M. at Independence Community Church.

Dr. Homer Wallace Renner officiating. Interment will follow in Cunningham Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Ruth Virginia Shubert passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Bethesda Health Care in Cookeville, Tennessee. Ruth Virginia Shubert was born Wednesday, January 5, 1921 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to the late Harvey Cross Rich and Ina Mae Cunnigham Rich.
Funeral services for Mrs. Manda L. Mathis, 86, of Baxter, will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Double Springs Church of Christ in Putnam County. Burial will follow in the Granville Cemetery in Granville. She passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Signature Health Care Center. She was born December 23, 1932, in Granville, to the late Walter Lee Clark and Willie Clark. On April 10, 1948, she was married to the late Garlin J. Mathis, who passed away January 7, 2000. She worked as a seamstress, and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and fishing. She was a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Garlene Gentry; 3 Brothers and Sisters in Law: James (Thelma), Loyd, and Charles (Marie) Clark; and 3 Sons in Law: Jerry Carter, Billy Hawkins, and Phillip Gentry. Survivors include 1 Son: Rodney (Donna) Mathis of Baxter; 2 Daughters: Pam Mathis Carter of Baxter, and Annettea (Joe E.) Neal of Granville; 8 Grandchildren: Junior (Becky) Carter, Christie (Bradley) Earnest, Kevin Hawkins, Nick Mathis, Lance (Mandy) Mathis, Joseph Neal, Danielle Nicole Montooth, and Rachael Neal; 8 Great Grandchildren: Samuel, Ella, and Seth Carter, Logan and Landon Earnest, Morgan and Madison Hawkins, and Sawyer Mathis; and 1 Sister in Law: Jewel Clark of Baxter. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 2 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Wade Burris, 76, of Gainesboro, will be held at 3 P.M. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County. He passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Signature Health Care Center in Algood. He was born July 2, 1942, in Gainesboro, to the late Hayden Burris and Eva Mai Burris. On March 28, 1964, he was married to Carolyn Burris, who survives. He was the owner and operator of Burris Disposal, and was a member of the Zion Church of Christ. He loved fishing, ballgames, and family activities, and served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Children: Baby Boy Burris and Connie Carol Burris; 2 Brothers: Mark Burris and Eddie Burris; and 1 Sister: Margie Ann Burris. Survivors include his Wife: Carolyn Burris of Gainesboro; 2 Sons: Michael (Renea) Burris and Mitchell (Kim) Burris, both of Gainesboro; 1 Daughter: Tammie (Rodney) McMillan of Gainesboro; 6 Grandchildren: Brooklyn Burris, Lindsay Burris, Drew (Kayla) McMillan, Marcus (Briana) McMillan, Morgen Burris, and Eli Burris; and 3 Great Grandchildren: Briella Hix, Silas Hix, and Damon McMillan. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3 P.M. – 9 P.M., and Wednesday from 11 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the India Orphans Fund or the Jackson Smith County Youth Camp by contacting the funeral home.
Service for Ruth Lillian Reeves, age 70 of Sparta, will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 5:00 pm at the Lords Chapel Church in Sparta. Mrs. Reeves passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at her home in Sparta surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Reeves was born in Milan, Missouri on June 20, 1948 to Orval Sherwood and Lillian Warren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Son, Anthony Ray Search and daughter, Melinda Louise Jenkins. She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Reeves; daughter, Cheryl Denise Reed; step- Children, Kathy Alwood, Jamie McNabb and Robert Reeves; Granddaughters, Kenya Reed, Valerie Welch, Mandy Ford, and Christy Oliva; Grandsons, Joseph Reed, Carlos Oliva, Christopher Reed, and David Oliva; Great Grandkids, Lydia, Kyle, Bracken, Abby, Tyson, Brody, Lindsey, Jennifer, Allen, Gabriel, and Charlie; and four step – grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Lords Chapel Church in Sparta from 4:00 pm till 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested to make donation to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Funeral services for Terrell Key, age 79, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday May 9th at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Scott Parkison and Pastor Cloyd Bell will officiate. Interment will follow at Phillips Cemetery. Terrell passed away Monday morning May 6, 2019. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 -7 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.
