Mr. Douglas Jay Blackford, age 66 of Smithville, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. Born Friday, May 8, 1953 in Waterloo, Iowa, he was the son of the late Wallace Blackford and the late Eva Wenger Blackford. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Surviving family members include the following: brother – Dennis Blackford of Smithville; brother – Steven Blackford of Smithville; brother – John Blackford of River Falls, Wisconsin; sister – Susan Pullin of Smithville. In accordance to Mr. Blackford’s wishes, his body will be cremated and the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Wilma Sue (Judd) Heady Neal, “Known fondly by her grandchildren as “Shae Shae” , 83 of Cookeville, passed from this life on Monday, June 3, 2019, at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. Sue was born Monday, October 28, 1935, in Cookeville. She was the daughter of the late Lowery Judd and the late Margie (Holloway) Judd. Sue was loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sue is survived by: Daughter: Sharon (Heady) Townsend and Husband Don; 2 Grandchildren: Mark Stephen Webb, Jr., Angela Sharon (Webb) Kane and Marty Preston Wheeler; 3 Great-Grandchildren: Megan Sha Webb and Ledgend Darty, Mackenzie Mae Webb, and Kalynn Ann Webb; 3 Great-Great-Grandson: Adonis Josiah King Darty and Nola and Leona Darty; Sister: Theresa Spears; Brother: Grady and Patsy Judd. Special Friend: Rose Keith; A host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by First Husband, Royce Tolbert Heady; Second Husband, William Neal; Son, Larry Royce Heady; 5 Brothers, Denny, Alfred, Buddy, and Ray Judd; Sister, Faye Jackson. Sue chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.
Tina Marie Trute, age 48 of Quebeck, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at the St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. She was born August 18, 1970 in Marshville, Wisconsin. Tina was an avid Horse Trainer and also worked at Jeldwyn Corporation. Her family includes her Son: Patrick M. Cravens, Jr.; Daughter: Jackie M. Trute; Mother: Rose Johnson Trute; Father: the late Fredrick M. Trute; Brothers: William Trute, Ben Trute, and Chris Dewey; Sister: Theresa Trute; Along with other relatives and friends. Tina wishes was to be cremated. A Private Family Memorial will be held at a later date.

Robert Lee Moodispaugh Sr. passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his home in Cookeville. He was born Sunday, August 16, 1959 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Kenneth Erson Moodispaugh and Bonnie Lou Workman Moodispaugh. Bob Pharris will officiate. Interment will follow in the Shipley Cemetery. Mrs. Masters passed away Sunday June 2, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for James Earl Stafford, age 83, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Johnny Fox and Danny Hall officiating. Interment will follow in West Cemetery. James Earl Stafford passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born Sunday, December 8, 1935 in Gainesboro to the late Johnnie Stafford and Nannie Scantland Stafford. He was a member of the Holladay church of Christ. He loved working outside, loved complaining about it and he loved his animals. James worked in heating and air conditioning installation for years before retiring from working for the City of Cookeville. By the way, does anyone want 5 goats, 1 rooster, 1 hen and 1 dog? In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Judith Stafford; brother, Mayford Lee Stafford; daughter, Judy Phillips. He is survived by daughter, Patti (Jerry) Burchett; sisters, Katherine Hall, Norma (Bob) Compton, Marie Langley; grandchildren, Rachel (Zack) Green, Daniel Phillips, Kale (Amy) Burchett, Katie (Brian) Cooper; great-grandchildren, Judah Green, Piper Kate Burchett, Annalee Kale Burchett, James Brody Cooper, Anagail Jane Cooper; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special companion, Carlena Smith; special friends Drew, Lisa, Jonah, Noah, Gabriel; and his animal caretaker, Barbara Mathis. Funeral services for Mrs. Regina Kay Underwood, age 60 of Sparta, will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home with James Rittenberry officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Underwood passed from this life on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born Wednesday, August 20, 1958 in Sparta, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Prater and the late Laurine Clouse Prater. Survivors include the following: husband – James W. “Bill” Underwood of Sparta; brother – Ted Prater and wife Lois of Sparta; neice – Christy Vinson; nephews – Jackie Prater, Doug Prater and Danny Prater. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday from 11am until time of the service at the funeral home.
Graveside services and interment for David Wayne Fairfield, Sr., age 70, of Cookeville will be held at Shipley Cemetery on Thursday, June 6th at 10:00 a.m.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Mr. Fairfield passed away Thursday May 23, 2019 at Bethesda Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 28, 1948 in San Bernardino, CA to the late Lawrence Paul Fairfield and Marion Frances Smith Fairfield Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ray Fletcher Fairfield, whom he married on December 31, 1970; daughter, Tricia Fairfield-Sharpe; grandchildren, Roger Todd (Amy Martin) Hixson, Jeffrey Ray Hixson, Lawrence Paul Hixson, Kayla Netherton, Jennifer Lynn Hixson, Justin Stewart, Heather Fairfield, Jessica Fairfield, Zachary Fairfield, and Michael Fairfield, and Justin Stewart; twin brother, Michael Fairfield; and 12 great-grandchildren; and two “sons” Michael and Matthew. Other special grandchildren include Travis McPherson, Zac McPherson, Travis Knight, Steven Stewart, John Coucher and Kurt McCoucher and aunt, Donna Jimenez. Mr. Fairfield started at an early age in the tire business with his father. David was the owner and operator of Fairfield Truck & Tire Service following his days as a re-capper. David also worked as a AAA Mechanic at Tile Industries. After moving to Hawaii, he was involved with the Line Riders as an ordained minister. His love for the deep sea led him to being one of the designers of Black Bart Lures.
