Mr. James Measles, age 73 of Sparta, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Earl S. Lowery (Sandy), age 60 of Sparta, passed away from this world in the early afternoon of Sunday, June 23, 2019 while sleeping at his home in Sparta. Earl was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on August 28, 1958 to the late Earl Lowery and Effie Mae Lowery. Earl was preceded in death by his father, Earl Lowery; stepfather, James E. Holland; sister, Gina Lowery Hodges. Earl is survived by his mother, Effie Mae Lowery; wife, Connie Presley; son, Dustin Lowery and wife Rachel; stepdaughter, Emily Ann Hodge; grandchildren, Callie Lowery; niece, Tashauna Burchett and husband Mike Flannery; numerous aunts and cousins also survive. The family has chosen cremation and at this time no services have been made. They will Honor Earl at the Electric Summer Musical Festival on June 28, 2019 located at the Sparta amphitheater.
Funeral services for Emma Jean Ray, age 88 of Cookeville, will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 1:00PM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Ray passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at her residence. Emma Jean Ray was born on March 18, 1931 in Cookeville to the late George Washington and Willie Estelle Robbins. She worked for the Oyster Company and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Ray also attended the Zion Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband: Troy Haskell Ray; 4 Sisters; and 3 Brothers. She is survived by two Daughters & Sons-In-Law: Darleen Roberts Bowick & Charles of Cookeville, and Sheila Phillips Eicholtz & Brad of Cookeville; 6 Grandchildren: Troy, Trent, Jason, Brent, Karissa, Derreck, and Granddaughters; 10 Great Grandsons and 3 Great Granddaughters; 1 Great-Great Grandson and 2 Great-Great Granddaughters; Also a Host of Many Nieces and Nephews. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday evening at Whitson Funeral Home from 5:30-8:00PM and Wednesday from 11:00AM till time of service at 1:00PM.
Funeral Services for Elsie Mae Scott, 88 of Sparta, will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Doyle Crawford and Doug Benningfield officiating. Burial will follow in Linville Cemetery. She passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital. She was born Tuesday, May 5, 1931 in Cookeville. She was the daughter of the late Dow and Mandy LaFever Bray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Scott. Survivors include: Son- Charles P. Scott Jr.; Daughter- Shirley Robinson (Denny); Step-Grandchildren- Denny Wayne (Sheila) Robinson and Brooke Nunn (Kevin); Step-Great- Grandchildren- Rhett Robinson, Danielle Hall and husband Damien, Blake Nunn, and Rhiana Locke; Step-Great-Great-Grandchildren- Nolan Hall, Mason Hall, Scarlett Locke, and Amelia Locke; Sisters- Dean Snyder (Willie) and Shirley Irene Burdette; Brothers- Gene Bray and Bill Bray (Joyce); Special Friends- Patsy and Bob Allison; Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, from 11am until time of the service at the funeral home. Funeral services for Mrs. Reba Inez Frasier Young, age 76 of the Bon Air Community of White County, will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Bon Air Cemetery. Mrs. Frasier passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Frasier was born March 31, 1943 in Sparta to the late Thomas Leslie & Rachel Lorene Payne Frasier. She retired from Mallory and also had a career making wedding and birthday cakes. She loved Civil War history and traveled to many of the battlefields. Reba was an avid University of Tennessee and NASCAR fan, but mostly she loved spending time with her family and living on Bon Air Mountain. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Rodger D. Young; siblings Gordon Frasier, Lois Hensley, Tommy Frasier, Jerry Frasier and Janice Frasier. Surviving family members include her children Danny (Shandy) Gore of OK, Rita (Barry) Baker, Rodger Young and Raymond Young all of Sparta. Grandchildren: Lori Baker, Rachel Graham, Raela Gore, Janna Gore, Megan Gore, Kyle Young and Angel Young; Great-grandchildren: Zachary, Jaden, Jacob and Jerry; Brothers: Billy Frasier and Donnie Frasier; Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Stone Seminary Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 12:00 pm until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Shirley Ann Grogan, 68, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services. She passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at her residence. She was born November 27, 1950, in Algood, TN, to the late Marvin Gore and Claire Brown Gore. On November 28, 1987, she was married to Bruce Grogan, who survives. She worked at Tutco, and was a member of the Stevens Street Baptist Church in Cookeville, TN.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Paul Lewis, age 88 of Monterey, will be held Friday, June 28th at 10am (EDT) at Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Ky. Her pastor in Tennessee, Rev. Tony Phipps will officiate with interment will follow at Jones Cemetery in nearby Poplar Creek, Ky. Her family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4pm until 7pm (EDT) at Croley Funeral Home. She died Sunday evening, June 23rd at her residence. She was born August 30, 1930 in Whitley County, Ky to the late Robert and Nona Bell Jones Paul. Mildred worked as a waitress while living in Kentucky Ohio and Tulsa Oklahoma. She loved motorcycles and enjoyed looking at old photos. Affectionately described as a firecracker, Mildred was funny and had a quick wit. She has been a beloved member of the Sand Springs Baptist Church since moving to Monterey 15 years ago. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, June 26th from 4pm until 7pm (CDT) at the chapel of Horner Funeral Home.

Family Members Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Whittaker Cemetery. Rev. Nash Was Born On March 23, 1921, In Monterey, To The Late Alvin And Lena Elizabeth Judd Nash. Rev. Nash Passed Away On Sunday, June 23, 2019, At The Patriot Ridge Community In Fairborn, Ohio. Rev. Nash Was A Devout Christian Gentleman, A Loving Father And Husband, And Friend To All. He Grew Up In Monterey, And Went To Nashville, In 1940 To Attend Falls Business College. He Was Employed By Tennessee Central Railway And The Railroad Retirement Board For 40 Years. He Raised His Family In Nashville And Was A Long-Time Member Of The Church Of The Nazarene. Upon His Retirement, He Returned To Monterey To Teach A Men’s Community Sunday School Class Which Became Monterey Community Church Where He Pastored For Many Years. He Moved To Fairborn, Ohio, After He Married Lois Terry Way, Where He Spent His Remaining Years. He Is Survived By His Wife, Lois Nash Of Fairborn, OH; 3 Daughters And A Son-In-Law, Beverly Hughes Of Nashville, Linda And Johnny Hoover Of Gallatin, Lynnette Nash Of Gallatin; 3 Stepchildren, Peggy Matson, Diana Worley, And Terry Way; 6 Grandchildren, Michael Wilson, Sharon Wright, Janet Gatewood, Philip Wilson, Christopher Seger, And Daniel Rogers; 11 Great Grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Olivia, Joshua, Elizabeth, Andrew, Sarah, Jack, Grant, Melody, And Maelyn; Several Step-Grandchildren; And Sister, Pauline Laycox Of West Mountain, OH. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Spilman’s family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Spilman died Saturday evening, June 22nd at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services for Nathan Prigmore, age 60 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 1:00 pm at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ located at 141 McClellan Court Cookeville, Tennessee 38501. Interment will follow in the Heritage Cemetery, Algood, Tennessee. Nathan was born Saturday, May 23, 1959, in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Charles Albert Prigmore and Marion Oneal (Lambertson), Prigmore. Nathan was a loving son, brother, and husband. He loved music, especially playing his guitar with his friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 11:00 am until time of service at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ.
