Obituaries For Tuesday, July 27
Jessie Daniel “Danny” Peercy, 80 of Sparta, passed away on Sunday, July 25 at his home. Mr. Peercy owned an automotive dealership for over 50 years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. No services are scheduled at this time.
Steve Cash, age 57 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at his home. Born Tuesday, April 7, 1964 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Grady and Lois (Thompson) Cash. Steve was a very loving husband father and grandfather. He was a teacher to all he knew. Steve was a drum maker and loved being outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 24 years Carol (Meness) Cash; 3 sons Ricky Lee, Mark Anthony, Brian Dakota; 1 daughter Rene Lynn. No services are planned.
Sherry French Dodson, age 62 of Sparta, passed away Thursday at Saint Thomas in Nashville. Daughter of late Ronald and Virginia Holman French. She is survived by Angie (Shelby) Randolph, Jamie Selby; aunt, Effie Mae Lowery; also, two paternal brothers and one sister. She worked for Wagner, U.S. Post Office of White County and Tri State of Sparta. Sherry enjoyed outside activities and walking. Family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
Funeral services for Robert G. Taylor, 78 of Gainesboro, will be held on Wednesday, July 28 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson County. Mr. Taylor passed away on Saturday, July 24 at his residence. On December 9, 1988, he was married to Bearchie Taylor, who survives. He served in the U.S. Army for 28 years, and was a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ and the Jackson County Veterans Hall. Survivng family includes his wife, Bearchie Taylor; and son, Douglas (Sibyl) Taylor. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral services for Lisa Dianne Caskey, 50, from Cookeville, will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Presley Funeral Home. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Born Thursday, October 22, 1970 in Lapeer, Michigan. Lisa was the daughter of William and Linda Caskey, the loving significant other Chuck Bos, the loving mother of Kensey Geer (Seth Weston), Kristina (Josh) Lewis and Benjamin Bos. Lisa loved children and followed in her mother’s footsteps to become a teacher. She was a graduate of TTU and obtained her masters degree in education. She taught at Cassville Elementary in Sparta and was a principal at Heritage Christian Academy, Lisa also worked for the State of Tennessee’s Department of Human Services. She was heavily involved with Autistic students in TN schools. She taught GED skills to Drug and Alcohol Recovery participants. She was devoted to God, teaching children’s church and VBS. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memory gifts or donations to the Lisa Caskey Grandchildren College Fund care of Volunteer Christian Academy. The family receiving family and friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Funeral services Mrs. Jeannette Lynn, age 94 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday July 31 at 5 p.m. at Collegeside Church of Christ. Private interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery. Mrs. Lynn died Friday afternoon, July 23rd at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. Mrs. Lynn’s family will receive friends Saturday from 3 p.m. until service time at the church.
Funeral services for Sylvia Ann Burnett, age 78 of Crossville, formerly of Sparta, will be Saturday July 31, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. at Thurman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Old Bon Air Cemetery. She went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 26, 2021, at her home of Crossville, TN. She was born June 15, 1943, to the late Sylvester Smith and Ruth Myers. She is survived by daughter, Cathy (Donnie) Whittenburg. the family will receive friends on Saturday July 31, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Thurman Funeral Home.
Memorial services for Mr. Thomas Elmer Varnadore, Jr. affectionately known by family and friends as Buddy, age 68 of Sparta, will be conducted 11:00am Monday, August 2 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Mr. Varnadore passed away on July 27 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He then spent 27 years as a truck driver and after retirement has been a familiar face as an attendant at the Rock House Convenience Center. Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Helen Varndadore; and their children, Joey (Julie) Varnadore, and Melissa Lynn Parks. The family will receive friends after 10:00am Monday at Hunter Funeral Home.
