Obituaries For Tuesday, July 16
A Celebration of life service for Ms. Deborah ‘Debbie’ Ruth West, 67 of Algood, will be held Wednesday, July 17th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Elder James Darty will officiate. Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Debbie passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 16, 1951 in Cookeville to the late William Clearance and Mary Bartlett West. She was a graduate of Cookeville High School and attended Tennessee Tech University. She lived in Detroit, Atlanta, Texas and Nashville before returning home in 2007. Debbie was friendly and outgoing. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining and was eager to help others. She was an animal lover, especially her dogs. She attended Living Hope Church in Cookeville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Brown, 83, of the Shiloh community of Jackson County, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Allentown Cemetery in the New Salem community of Jackson County. She passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019, at her residence. She was born April 30, 1936 in Jackson County, to the late Robert Lee Hopkins and Mary Susan Hopkins. She worked at Nielsen, and was a member of the Cummins Mill Baptist Church in Cookeville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: Marion Hopkins, Joe Hopkins, Lewis Morgan Hopkins, and Edwin Lee Hopkins. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Rita (Dewey) Barlow of Gainesboro; 2 Grandchildren: Joey (Tonya) Poston of Cookeville and Mandy (Mike – Jughead) Perhay of Cookeville; 4 Great Grandchildren: Austin Poston, Samantha Poston, Tommy Perhay, and M.J. Perhay; and 1 Brother: Charles (Reba) Hopkins of Gainesboro. Several nieces, nephews, and special friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral services will be held for Mr. Timothy Dwain Capps, age 51 of Livingston, on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 10 AM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Okolona Cemetery in Overton Co., TN. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, July 17th starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. Officiating the service will be Bro. John Mabry. He passed away from this life at his residence on Monday, July 15, 2019. Mr. Timothy Dwain Capps was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on August 23, 1967 to B.C. Capps and the late Betty (Richardson) Capps. Timothy at the Chocolate Plant in Livingston until it closed out. Timothy was loved by his family very much and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Miss Laura Elizabeth Snodgrass, 87 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Rob Wheeler will officiate. Private interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Laura passed away Monday, July 15, 2019. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Marietta Gill Ledbetter, age 93, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019 from the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, where her body will lie in repose from 1 until time of services at 2 p.m. Rev. Shelia Preacher and Rev. James Shenko will officiate. Burial will follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Marietta passed from this life on Wednesday morning, July 16, 2019 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Dickson County, Tennessee to the late Henry Alex & Gertrude Garland Gill. Marietta was retired from the Overton County Co-Op, where she worked for over 25 years as a book keeper. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Livingston where she attended for over 65 years. Marietta loved her family dearly. She enjoyed watching golf, playing piano, singing in her church choir, reading and her books on tape. She was actively involved in the United Methodist Women, and served as an officer. Marietta leaves behind her daughter, Bobbye Moore & husband Ron of Livingston; son, David Ledbetter & wife Betty of Livingston; grandchildren, Jennifer Officer & husband Michael, David Ledbetter, Jr., Patty Dale & husband David, and Tamara Stocking & husband Lee, all of Livingston; great-grandchildren, Sam Officer & girlfriend McKenzie Shaw, Kate Officer, Rex Dale & wife Kirstie, and Adam Dale all of Livingston; sister-in-law, Brenda Gill of Burns; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Marietta was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Winson Ledbetter; 2 brothers, and 1 sister. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Memorial Donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by contacting Speck Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service for Lawrence “Larry” Irvine MacIntosh, 80 of Sparta, will be held at 3pm on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sparta with James Ferraro and Rodney Shewmake officiating. Larry passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at his home. He was born Sunday, May 28, 1939. He loved Jehovah, nature, music, friends, and family. Survivors include: Wife- Carol MacIntosh of Sparta; Son- Lance MacIntosh (Sarah) of New York; Daughter- Leigh Brace (Bill) of New York; Granddaughter- Emaleigh Brace of New York; Sister- Helen White (Jerry) of New York; Step-Son- Edward Gabrielle (Debra) of Sparta; Step-Daughter- Anna Gernt (Art) of Florida; Step-Son- Anthony Gabrielle of Sparta; Step-Son- Marvin Blodgett (Christy) of Crossville; Step-Grandchildren- Zoe, Eden, Lisa, Sara, Richard, David, Elyssa, Dean, Raylin, and Alexis.
