Myrtle Cook, 73, of Gainesboro, TN, passed away on February 14, 2021, at NHC Health Care in Cookeville, TN. The family has chosen cremation, with no services at this time. She was born August 7, 1947, in Pleasant Shade, TN, to the late Curtis Kemp and Dorothy Hackett Kemp. She was married to the late Charles Cook, who passed away June 24, 1994. She was a housewife. Survivors include 2 Sons: Charles Oldham of Cookeville, TN, and Curtis Cook of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter: Julie Montgomery of Louisville, KY.
Funeral services for Judy K. Hammock, 75, of the Old Antioch community of Jackson County, TN, will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Stacy Cemetery in the Old Antioch community. She passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021, at Overton County Health and Rehab. She was born March 4, 1945, in Noblesville, Indiana. She was married to the late James Milton Hammock, who passed away July 4, 2002. She was a factory worker, and a member of the New Hope Community Church. Survivors include 2 Daughters: Melissa McAnally of Hilham, TN, and Carol Dailey of Gainesboro, TN. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
Funeral services for Ruby Ann Roberts, age 94 of Cookeville, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday February 17 at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Ruby (Ann) transitioned to be with the Lord on her birthday, Wednesday, February 10, 2021. She entered this earthly life February 10, 1927 in Overton County, TN, born to the late John Barlow Roberts and Mary Elizabeth Armstrong Roberts. Ruby accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of the McClellan Avenue Church of Christ. She was educated in the Overton County School System and retired from Upper Cumberland Electric Corporation. Ruby enjoyed fishing and hunting with her brother, Dewitt, as well as working in her garden, drawing, writing songs, designing her own clothes and cooking for everybody that visited her. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
Funeral services for Doris Meredith Beechboard, age 76 of Cookeville, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday February 17 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Mike Adams will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Doris passed away Saturday evening February 13, 2021 at Bailey Manor in Cookeville. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 -8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 12 noon until service time. Please practice social distancing and the use of masks are appreciated.
Private graveside services and interment for retired Tennessee Tech Professor Dr. Arthur Gardiner, 91, of Cookeville, will be held Thursday February 18 at Shiipley Cemetery. Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday February 21 at 2 pm at Trinity Assembly in Algood. Dr. Gardiner passed away Friday February 12 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Graveside Service for Doris Dale (King) Jackson, age 88 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, February 19, 2021, at 1:00 pm from the Clark’s Cemetery in Clinton, Kentucky with her family officiating. She passed from this life on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at her home. Doris was born Friday, May 20, 1932, in Hickman, Kentucky, and she was the daughter of the late Allen Dewey King and the late Nora Brittania (Crouch) King. Doris was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend. She was a very successful payroll manager for the company she worked for. She and her late husband Jimmy were very active in church, where they taught Sunday school and would organize nursing home visitation programs. Doris is survived by, Sister, Helen King Larder and husband Don; Step-Sister, Juanita Johnson, and husband R.B.
Graveside service and interment for Charles J. Threet, 78 of Cookeville, will be Friday, February 19 at 2 PM EST at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana. There will be a private family visitation at Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Threet died Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at his home. He was born June 23, 1942 in Overton County, TN to the late Charlie and Martha Southard Threet. He was a retired truck driver with General Motors Corporation. Survivors include sisters Gladys (Jimmy) Cook of Cookeville, Agnes (Ronnie) Bohannon of Monterey.
Funeral services for Willie Helton Hickey, Sr., age 90 of Carleton, MI and formerly of Cookeville, will be held Saturday February 20 at 11 am in Dyer Chapel. Interment will follow in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Willie passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 13, 2021, under the care of hospice. Born May 10, 1930 in Cookeville. He was one of four children to the late Oscar and Nettie (Harness) Hickey. In the early 1950’s he moved to the Monroe area. Willie made his living working at Ford Motor Company as a Machine Operator for 30 and a half years before retiring in 1982. He married the love of his life, Daisy L. Nelson on October 2, 1948. They had a family of six children and spent over 67 wonderful years together until Daisy’s passing in 2015. Willie was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed taking care of his family. In his free time, you could find him in the middle of the woods hunting. He and family used to go camping in their motor home He also enjoyed going out on the boat on Lake Erie to get walleye. Sadly, Willie leaves behind a son, Willie (Deborah) Hickey, Jr. of Maybee; two daughters, Deborah (Tony) Gilmer of Carleton and Alesia (Tom) Gautz of Monroe; son in law, Daniel Jackson of Baxter; eleven grandchildren; Michael Jackson, Roy Hickey, Lisa Hammond, Jeremy Hickey, John Hickey, Justin Paul, Jessyka Paul, Garrett (Journee) Gautz, Kyle (Amelia) Gautz, Jeffrey Hickey, and Matthew Hickey; eleven great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by three children; an infant son, Roy Hickey, daughter, Delcia Jackson, and a son, Aaron “Wayne” Hickey; two brothers, Travis and Jay Hickey; a sister, Gerthree Hickey; two grandchildren, Troy Hickey and Kenneth Jackson; three great grandchildren, Tiegan and Taryn Romans, and Elizabeth Hickey. His family will receive friends Friday from 2 pm until 8 pm and Saturday from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial Service for Sally Nunley Burrows, 85 of Sparta, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Jeff Guth officiating. She passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Thursday, November 7, 1935 in Coalmont, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Matt and Nora Rogers Nunley. She was a caregiver for over 20 years. She loved being with people and spending time with her family. Survivors include son- Mike Burrows (Susan) of McMinnville, TN; Daughters- Sherry Rose (Donnie) of Sparta, TN and Jackie Burrows Miller of Sparta, TN. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
