Obituaries For Thursday, September 5

Funeral Service for Norman Luke “Bud” Bartlett, age 86 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, September 6, 2019, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of the Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Clarence DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. He passed from this life on Sunday, September 1, 2019, at his home. Bud was born Wednesday, May 10, 1933, in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Woodrow Wendall and Mary Josephine (Alcorn) Bartlett. Bud was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from General Motors after 31 years as a millwright and after retirement, he did lawn mower repair. Bud served as a deacon at the Silver Point Church of Christ and later attended Willow Avenue Church of Christ and was involved with their visitation programs. Bud liked to whittle, was an avid gardener, he loved to work on motors, and he built a ’54 dodge coupe into a truck. Bud was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Burgess Brown, 95, of Gainesboro, will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, September 6, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. She passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Livingston Regional Hospital in Livingston. She was born March 10, 1924, in Jackson County, to the late James Madison Burgess and America Susanna Burgess. She was married to the late Bob W. Brown, who passed away April 3, 1994. She was a factory worker, and also worked at the Jackson County Health Department. She was a member of the Northeast Church of Christ in Cookeville. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: James Verlon Brown; 3 Brothers; and 8 Sisters. Survivors include 1 Son: Ronald “Butch” Brown of Gainesboro; 2 Daughters: Peggy Crabtree and Robbie Jackson, both of Gainesboro; 7 Grandchildren: James Robert Brown, Bruce Brown, Donna Flowers, Joanna Vaden, Robert Flatt, Jason Flatt, and Joey Pigg; 7 Great Grandchildren: Jonathan Flowers, Tiffanye Brown, Justin Vaden, Cassidy Flatt, Jasalin Flatt, Wyatt Flatt, and Luke Flatt; 3 Great Great Grandchildren: Brantley, Bethany, and Bryce Flowers; and 1 Daughter in Law: Mabel Brown of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Friday from 9 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral Service for Roy Estel Tindell, age 94, of Doyle, will be held Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11 am at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Mr. Tindell passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at Life Care Center of Sparta. Mr. Tindell was born on May 9, 1925. He was married to Jewel Dean Tindell (deceased). He is the son of the late Garner and Annie (Collins) Tindell. He had four brothers Waymon Tindell ( Eudean ), Vermon Tindell (Mamie Lou), Henry Tindell (Edna) and Alvin “Bill” Tindell (Reba ) and two sisters Ettie Johnson (Cleade), Elizabeth Howard (Wilson). Mr. Tindell served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include: Daughter – Susan Carlton of Sparta; Son – Larry Tindell (Kathy) of Itasca, IL; Son – Joshua David Tindell (Amanda) of Schaumburg, IL; Daughter – Janet Tindell of Plainfield, IL; Grandchildren – Deanna Carlton (John Pope), Matthew Carlton, Anthony Schalk (Ashley), Jillian Barlow (Brian), Katelyn Hernandez (Warren), Kevin Tindell, Danielle Bryant and Kristina Bryant; Great Grandchildren – Alexander (Kyle), Elizabeth and Harrison Pope, Brian, Isabella, Abigail and Elipp Schalk, Aislin, Tristan ,Roslyn Barlow, and Charlotte Hernandez. Mr. Tindell is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by wonderful nurses and friends at Life Care Center of Sparta. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 5-8 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Rena Kirby, age 63 of Doyle will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, September 6, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in the Kirby Family Cemetery. Mrs. Kirby was born December 8, 1955 in White County. She was a garment factory worker that had a career that spanned from Doyle Shirt Factory to Wilson Sporting Goods. She was a member of Ole Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Jeff Randolph will officiate.

Funeral services for Vallie Alene Parrigin, age 81, of Baxter will be held Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Rudy Oakes officiating. Interment will follow in West Cemetery. Alene passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at NHC Cookeville in Cookeville. She was born Monday, June 27, 1938 in Cookeville to the late Carlos Dow Harris Sr. and Ora Lee Jackson Harris. Alene enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Wilhite Baptist Church. She enjoyed dancing with her friends. She worked for many years as a Barber. In addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Swift; twin sister, Claudia Arlene Waller; two brothers, Jimmy Dyer Harris and John Douglas Harris; two step-sons, Robbie and Allen Parrigin. She is survived by her husband, Alfred “Jr” Parrigin; daughter, Theresa (Scott) Fleenor of Cookeville; brother, Carlos Dow (Karen) Harris, Jr. of Baxter; sister-in-law, Cindy Harris of Cookeville; four nieces, Rebecca (Phillip) Uhles, Lisa (Jerry)Massa, Tisha Henry and Darlene Gambrell; four nephews, Matthew (Alyssa) Harris, Mark Harris, Luke Harris, and John Austin (Adrianne) Harris; three great-nieces, Krista Maynard, Emma Harris, and Amelia Harris; three great nephews, Richard Fields, Dr. Jonathan Uhles, and Levi Maynard. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Saturday, September 7, 2019, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stephanie Ann Staggs Ford, age 43, of Livingston will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Mark Neely will officiate. Stephanie passed from this life on Wednesday evening, September 4, 2019 from the Livingston Regional Medical Center. She was born in Overton County, on May 16, 1976 to Earl David & Geneva Ann Ledford Staggs. Stephanie was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She enjoyed the lake, being outdoors, but most of all, her grandson. Stephanie leaves behind her husband Randy Ford of Livingston, son, Austin Ford & Angel Balowski of Livingston; daughter, Sway Ford of Livingston; grandson, Clay August Ford; parents, David & Geneva Staggs of Livingston; sister, Brandie Ledbetter & husband Chris of Livingston; niece, Brittany Ledbetter and nephew Lucas Ledbetter; husband Randy Clay Ford of Livingston. Stephanie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Odis & Pauline Staggs and Ward & Eula Ledford. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.
