Funeral Service for June Elizabeth Johnson Oaks, 84, of Sparta, will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Curtis Guest officiating, Burial will follow at Frasier and Gracey Cemetery. June passed away Tuesday October 8, 2019 in Sparta. She was born November 28, 1934 to the late James and Ruth Kirk Johnson in Union City. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Sparta, Pastor Curtis Guest. June Loved the LORD and her family. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and watching her favorite bird, the hummingbird. She was a great cook; she cooked every Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner until she turned 80. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by; Brother- John Raymond Johnson, and Sister Mary Corum. Survivors include; Husband- Jim Oaks of Sparta; Sisters- Carolyn Johnson Raines of Belleville, Michigan and Betty Johnson Vowell of South Fulton; Children- Patricia Dale of Hendersonville, William Dale (Alicia) of Fairfield Glade, Donna Gibson of Sparta, and James (Jim) Oaks (Brenda) of Sparta; 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren. A special thanks to all the Caregivers of NHC of Sparta. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 11 am – 2 pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations to be made to Faith Baptist Church of Sparta building fund.

Funeral services for Roger Wayne Bohannon, 79, of Cookeville, will be Friday, October 11 at 3:00 pm, from the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home, with Bro. David Wayne Copeland officiating. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery. He passed away on Monday, October 7, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from complications following a stroke. He was born on June 16, 1940. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vivian Bohannon, daughter Vicki (husband, Charles) Stockton and son, Derek (wife, Carol) Bohannon. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sarah (husband, Kenneth) Morgan, Ethan (wife, Emily) Bohannon, Jonathan Bohannon, and Bethany Bohannon, as well as, great-grandchildren Lila Morgan and Ezra Bohannon. Roger is also survived by his two nieces Tricia Dianne Hall Howe, and Lisa Gaye Hall. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Bohannon and his mother Elva Ramsey Bohannon, stepmother Buena Rockwell Bohannon, his only sister and brother-in-law, Gaynell and David Hall as well as an aunt, several uncles, and cousins. Roger was a graduate of Algood High School. He owned and operated Economy Motors for over 25 years in Cookeville. He attended Eastwood Baptist Church. Roger worked hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed getting together with his family and friends to visit and enjoy good food. As a boy, Roger helped his father grow gladiolus which they sold to Gunnell’s Florist. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, from 5-8 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. A single or small bunch of gladiolus would be nice as Roger did not have a favorite charity, or you may donate to your favorite charity in his name.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Terry Edgington, 85 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, October 11th at 5 p.m. at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Bro. Buddy Johnson will officiate. Mr. Edgington died Monday evening, October 7, 2019 at NHC Healthcare, Cookeville. His family will receive friends Friday from 3 p.m. until service time at the church.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Julia Ann Arney Rich, age 60, of Rickman will be conducted 7 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Private burial will follow at a later date. Mrs. Julia Ann Rich passed from this life on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from the Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was born in Overton County on March 14, 1959 to Emma Crouch Arney Maguire and the late Billy Coe Arney. Julia was a licensed esthetician, and Pentecostal in faith. She loved raising flowers and gardening. Julia loved her job, animals, especially dogs and cats, shopping with her grandkids, and studying her bible. Julia would start her day reading her bible, praying and having a cup of hot coffee on her back porch with her husband Kelly. Julia leaves behind her husband Kelly Rich of Rickman; son Eric Reagan & wife Adrienne of Powell; grandchildren, Wesley, Emma, Ava & William Reagan; mother, Emma Crouch Arney Maguire of Rickman; sisters, Cindy Mitchell of Byrdstown, and Susan Storie & husband Joe of Plant City, Florida; several nieces and nephews. Julia was preceded in death by her father. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5 until time of services at 7 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. George Lynn Copeland, age 87, of Sparta will be conducted 10:00am Saturday, October 12, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. He passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his home. Mr. Copeland was born July 26, 1932 in the Yankeetown community of White County to the late Larimore and Frances Milligan Copeland. Lynn was a devoted family man and longtime member of Sparta First Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Lynn worked for Spartan shirt factory, in the office and sales, and Mallory as an inspector. For 19 years, he worked nights serving as the lone dispatcher for all of Sparta’s emergency services before the creation of E-911. When Lynn retired, he worked for Edd Rogers transporting vehicles. He also helped establish the Sparta-White County Rescue Squad. Brent Copeland, Terry Copeland, Hunter Copeland, Brandon Clouse, Ronnie Lowery, David Lowery, Stan Lowery and Dennie Lowery will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral Services for Mr. Robert (Bob) Bowman, 79 of Fairfield Glade, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Nolan Cantrell will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. He passed from this life on Tuesday afternoon, October 8, 2019 from the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis surrounded by his family. He was born September 3, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Livingston Academy and attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. He served his country, reaching the rank of Captain in the Army National Guard. Bob was a Master Mason. He enjoyed fishing, wood working, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He attended Fairfield Glade Baptist Church. He quietly lived out his faith with a generous spirit, kind heart and a willingness to help those in need. He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Nancy Cantrell Bowman of Memphis; son, William Bowman (Michelle) of Cumming, GA; daughter, Sharon Voehringer (Pete) of Memphis; grandsons Ryan Voehringer, Aaron Voehringer, Andrew Bowman and granddaughter Kaitlyn Bowman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Eva MacGillivray Bowman and his brother, Don Bowman. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 12 Noon until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Billye Joyce Howell Ross, 85 age of Sparta, will be Saturday, October 12th, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Central Church of Christ. Interment at Elrod Cemetery, Officiating will be Bro. Christopher Wiles. Billye passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at NHC of Sparta. Billye was born on December 10, 1933 in Springfield to William Ira Howell and Gladys Griffin Howell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years Dr. Jeff Pinckley Ross and brother, Tillman Cason “T.C.” Howell. Survivors include her Son: Dr. Joseph Marc Ross and wife Patti; her  Grandchildren: Carrie Ross Abood and husband Adam, Joseph Adam Ross and wife Stephanie, Jacob Andrew Ross, Mary Katherine Ross; and  her Great-grandchildren: Asher Ross, Eden Abood, Abraham Abood, Noah Ross, Annelise Ross and Atticus Ross; Sister, Carolyn Acuff and husband John; Sister in laws, Karyl Howell and Ola Tubb Jones and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Saturday, October 12th, 2019 at Central Church of Christ, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Charity of your choice.

Memorial Graveside Services for Mary Mae Clark, age 88 of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 11:00AM at Zion Hill Cemetery. Pastor Tommy Harris will officiate. Mary Mae Clark passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mary was born on January 5, 1931 in Alamo, Indiana to the late Charles and Bertha (White) Ammerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Sister and 2 Brothers.

A Memorial Service for Patricia C. Farley, 80, of Sparta will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 3:30 pm at North Sparta Church of GOD with Bro. Steve Gerhart officiating. She passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at her home in Sparta. Mrs. Farley was born on November 7, 1938 to the late Walter Alford Richard Rainbird and Connie May Harrington Rainbird in Watford, England. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Brother- Roy Alford Richard Rainbird. Survivors include: Daughter- Debbie Farley Roberts (Henry)of Sparta; Son- Larry Dale Farley; And many special family members. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 2:00-3:30 at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you make donations to the Humane Society or Sparta Animal Shelter.

A Celebration of Life for Hope Riely Long, 20 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 beginning at 4:00 PM. from the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Hope passed from this life Monday, October 7, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Hope was born Thursday, December 31, 1998 in Whittier, California, she was the daughter of Patrick Long and Jennifer Stoker. Hope was a loving Mother, Daughter, and friend to all who knew her. Hope loved fishing with her pet Max, Art, such as paintings and sketchings. She loved music and dancing around the house. She is survived by: 1 Daughter: Rory May Long of Cookeville; Mother: Jennifer (Mark) DeFalco of Cookeville; Father: Patrick (Gabriella) Long of California; 2 Sisters: Pat Long of Cookeville, Stephanie Sandoval of California; 1 Brother: Anthony DeFalco of Cookeville.
