Helen Harris, Age 74 Of The Anderson Community, Passed Away Thursday, May 27 At Her Daughter’s Home In Algood. Funeral Arrangements Are Incomplete.
Pamela Renee Smith, 56 of Cookeville, passed away on May 25 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. The family has chosen cremation, with memorial services at a later time.
Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Shirlie Alfred Reeder, age 73 of Madison, and formerly of Overton County, will be conducted 11:30 AM Friday, May 28th, from Pasquo Church of Christ in Nashville. Burial will follow in the Veteran’s Cemetery in Nashville. Mr. Reeder passed from this life on Tuesday morning, May 18 from the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was born in Overton County on November 23, 1947, to the late Clarvess Franklin and Nellie (Kyle) Reeder. He served his nation as a member of the United States military during the Vietnam War and was a fan of the University of Tennessee athletic programs. Mr. Reeder leaves behind his children, Jongee Arnold, Ashley Reeder, Brent Reeder.
Funeral Services for Thomas Bedford Steward, 79 of Sparta, will be Friday, May 28 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 1 PM with Bro. Nick Holman officiating, burial will follow at Old Bon Air Cemetery. Mr. Steward passed away Tuesday, May 25 in Sparta. He was born on November 14, 1941 to the late George and Hattie Mae Steward in Gainesboro. Survivors include, daughter, Ramona E. Hunter (James) of Sparta, and son, Dewayne Steward (Janet) of Madison, NC. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 28 at the funeral home from 11 am till the time of service.
Funeral services for Skye Elaine Hawkins, 2 months, will be Friday, May 28 at 2 PM at the Dyer Chapel Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Jim Schultz will officiate. Skye died Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 8, 2021 in Cookeville. Skye is survived by parents, Isaiah and Heather Schultz Hawkins of Cookeville; sister, Harmony Hawkins, brother, Taylor Schultz; grandparents: Jim and Jennifer Schultz, Autumn and Jerry Hawkins. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. Sammy Ezell Thurman, 89 of Allons, will be held Friday, May 28 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Hunter Cove cemetery. Mr. Thurman passed way at Tristar Skyline hospital in Nashville on Monday, May 24. Mr. Thurman was a long haul truck driver and also served in the Army. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Thurman; and sons, Keith (Sherry)Thurman, and Kenny Thurman. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 27 from 6 PM until 8 PM.

Interment will follow the service in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Mann passed from this life on Tuesday, May 25 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Randy was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend. He was a Christian and attended the Willow Avenue Church of Christ for many years. He was a faithful worker of the FilterMart Corporation for 20 years. Randy loved to give everyone a hard time and that meant he really liked you. Randy was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Randy is survived by his Wife of 38 years, Gwen Mann; and two Children, Kris Mann, and Kasey Mann. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Friday, May 28 from 12:00 pm until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Vella Haney, 69 of the Shiloh community of Jackson County, will be held on Saturday, May 29 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Okalona Cemetery in Rickman. Miss Haney passed away on Thursday, May 27 at her residence. She was born August 31, 1951, in Rickman. She was the daughter of the late EM Dishman and Bessie L. Dishman. She worked as a seamstress. She is survived by two sons, Sherman Haney and Junior Lee Haney, both of Cookeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral Services for Mr. Chester Nation, age 88 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, May 29 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Nation was born October 9, 1933 in Livingston to the late Clay M. and Austin Sells Nation. He worked for Sparta Spoke Factory for 24 years. Chester loved to fish and was a fantastic shade tree mechanic. Survivors include his children, Randy Nation, and Teresa Ann Donald) McCormick. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00am-1:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Dean Gist, age 71 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, May 30 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Davis Cemetery. Linda Cheers will officiate. Arthur was employed at a local shirt factory, and his favorite pastime was golf. He never actually played the game, but he loved to watch it. Arthur especially enjoyed keeping up with Tiger Woods’ career. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mildred Strode Gist; and children, Tony (Jeannie) Strode, Ronald Strode, Donald (Jennifer) Strode, Darlene Gist, and Charlene (Jordan) Gist Jolley. Christian Smith and Katherine Hall officiating at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville TN. He passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. David was born Tuesday, April 14, 1936, Rushford, New York, to the late Paul Harold James and Mary Luckey. David was a truck driver and worked many years over the road. Survived by: Wife – Ethel P. James, Cookeville; Daughter – Denise J. Newberry; Son – Donald E. James. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to the time of services.
