Obituaries For Thursday, June 18

Lorraine Beatrice Abbott,90, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 in Sparta. Mrs. Abbott was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1930 to the late Leon and Doris Sheldon Bowerman. She is the wife of Robert Abbott. No services are planned at this time.

Mrs. Ruby Dimple Edmonds, age 91, of Overton County, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Overton County Health & Rehab in Livingston. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Terry Key, 69, of Gainesboro, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born November 14, 1950, in Detroit, MI, to Kenneth Key and the late Maggie Lee Brummitt Key. On August 20, 1970, he was married to Dece Key, who survives. He was a construction worker by trade. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by 1 Son: Christopher Alan Key. Survivors include his Wife: Dece Key of Gainesboro; 2 Sons: Timothy Scott Key of Gainesboro, and John Edward Key of Florida; his Father: Kenneth Key of Gallatin; 2 Brothers: Richard Alan Key and Jeffery Lee, both of Gallatin; 1 Sister: Crystal Dawn Key of Gallatin; and 1 Grandchild: Alexander Key of PA. The family has chosen cremation, and no services are scheduled at this time.

Private family graveside services and interment for Olga Langford Kinnaird, 93, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, June 19th at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Matt McClanahan will officiate. Friends are invited to come by the funeral home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. Mrs. Kinnaird died Monday morning, June 15, 2020 at her residence.

Funeral Services for Mr. Elmer Leon Flatt, age 93, of Livingston will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2020 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Jon Ledbetter, and Bro. Henry Colbert will officiate. Burial to follow in the Campground Cemetery, with Military Honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Mr. Flatt passed from this life on Saturday morning, June 13, 2020 from his residence. He was born in Jackson County, Tennessee on April 22, 1927 to the late Wesley G. & Minnie Ray Brown Flatt. Leon worked for 45 years for the General Motors Company. He met the love of his life on the Livingston Court House Square in 1956 and married her on May 29, 1956.. Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, farming, raising cattle, and chickens He enjoyed listening to Hank Williams Sr, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. Leon leaves behind his loving wife, Reba Ann Gore Flatt, of Livingston, TN; son, Dale Flatt & wife Lydia of Livingston, TN; daughter, Maleah Mitchell & husband Col. Mark Mitchell of Ft. Stewart, GA; grandchildren, Wesley Flatt, Daniel Flatt & wife Halie, Cassandra Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell, and 2nd LT. Olivia Mitchell; great-grandson, Brayden Mitchell-Kniffen.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cassie Estellean Webb, age 87 of the Swallows Chapel Community, will be conducted 11 am Friday, June 19, 2020, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. Derek Copeland will officiate. Burial to follow in Eckels Cemetery. Mrs. Webb passed from this life on Tuesday evening, June 16, 2020, from the Overton County Health and Rehab Center. She was born on May 10, 1933, to the late Henry and Mary Magalene Dishman Steward. Cassie loved to fish and enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning produce. Mrs. Webb leaved behind her loving husband Clio Webb of the Swallows Chapel Community; sons Gary Webb and wife Sherry of the Hardys Chapel Community and Roger Webb of the New Hope Community; and granddaughter Kimberly Michele Pritchard of Knoxville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by her brother Vestel “Cub” Steward and grandson Johnny Webb. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 8 pm.

Funeral services for Dillous Keith Bowman, age 69 of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday June 19 at The Edge facility at Life Church. Bobby Davis and Danny Johnson will officiate. Interment will be at Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery in Overton County. He passed away Wednesday morning June 17, 2020 at Standing Stone Care & Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. Friends are invited to come by the church to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed.

Funeral Services for Mr. James Michael “Mike” Brown age 60 of Ocala, Florida and formerly of Livingston, will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Okolona Cemetery in Overton Co. He passed away in Ocala on Saturday, June 13, 2020. Mr. James Michael “Mike” Brown was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on Sunday, December 6, 1959 to the late Mildred Brown Livingston. Mike worked as a painter by trade and he was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include 1 Son: Josh Brown and his wife Jessica; 2 Daughters: Chaska Davidson and her husband Michael (Cowboy), Jamie White and her husband Toby; 7 Grandchildren: Tyler Brown, Ellie, Addie, Sylvie White, Halley, Maddie , Taylor Brown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, 19th starting at 11 AM. Officiating the service will be Bro. Kevin Clark.

Funeral services for Bethel B. “Pete” Pippin, age 86, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday June 20, 2020 at 11:00am from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Bro. Floyd Farris will officiate at the service and Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The burial will follow at the Cookeville City Cemetery. Bethel B. Pippin was born on October 9, 1933 in Jackson County to the late Benton and Lizzie Mae Chaffin Pippin. He passed away on Tuesday June 16, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Pippin worked for the State of Tennessee School System until he retired. He was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ. During his life time he enjoyed gardening and Farming and anything outside but most of all he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by; Wife: Joyce Ann Pippin. His family includes: Son: Ricky Pippin; Daughter: Debbie Damaschun; 7 Grandchildren: Jason Damaschun, Steve Damaschun, Rick Pippin Jr., Rachel Pippin, Kate McCollum, Eli Pippin and Olivia Pippin; 9 Great Grandchildren: Evan Damaschun, Molly McCollum, Hannah Pippin, Jared McCollum, Caroline Pippin, Laurel Pippin, Gabe Pippin, Cole McCollum, Jason Pippin; 1 Sister and brother in-law: Betty and William Sherrill; 1 Brother: Bill Pippin; A Host of Nieces and Nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at the Funeral home on Thursday from 2:00pm until 9:00pm, Friday from 8:00am until 9:00pm and on Saturday from 8:00am until time of services at 11:00am.

A memorial service for Mrs Nina Mae Young, age 87, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday June 20, 2020 at 2:00pm at Colonial View Baptist Church. She Passed away on Friday June 12, 2020.

Funeral services for Mr. William ‘Bill’ Harrison Carter, age 84 of Algood, will be held Sunday, June 21st at 3:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Diantha S McLeod will officiate. Interment will follow in Algood Heritage Cemetery. Friends are invited to come by the funeral home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. He died Tuesday morning, June 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 23, 1935 in Smith Grove, KY to the late William Carter and Rena Parrish Carter. He moved to Algood at age 25. Bill was employed as a truck driver for Rogers Group in Algood for over 20 years and previously worked at TVA. Bill enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing. He will be fondly remembered for his funny and loving nature. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in Oakland, KY. He is survived by son, William Carter III, of Algood; daughter, April Carter of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Ashley Carter, Brittany Carter and Jasmine Carter; seven great grandchildren; sister, Matie Harrford of Bowling Green, KY; five nephews from Bowling Green, special friend, Donald Hayes of Algood; and by his beloved dog, Sugar. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Burton’s Chapel United Methodist Church Parking Lot Fund, c/o Emma Roberst, 1913 N Dixie Ave., Cookeville, TN 38501.
