Obituaries For Thursday, August 20

Graveside services and interment for Mr. Raymond Stacy Clouse, age 88 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, August 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Browns Mill Cemetery. Pastor Scott Parkison will officiate. Mr. Clouse died Wednesday August 19, 2020 at his residence. Raymond was employed as a manager at the former Acme Boot Company in Cookeville and Lebanon. He was a longtime member of Stevens Street Baptist Church and attended Charles Masters sunday school class. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measures will be in place. All attendees are encouraged to wear masks.

Funeral services for Mr. William Flaveous McBride, 87, of Sparta, will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, August 21st from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery with full military honors by the Veteran’s Honor Guard. Mr. Flaveous passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Highlands Medical Center in Sparta. He was born June 15, 1933 in Sparta to the late Samuel Virgle and Mattie Geer McBride. Growing up in the Blue Spring Community of White County, he attended Yankeetown Elementary and then graduated from White County High in 1951. After graduation, Flaveous enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Korea as a radio specialist while being entrusted with highly sensitive information. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was recognized for his efficiency, accuracy, and dedication to a task. Flaveous was lovingly dedicated to his family. He took seriously the roles of son, husband, father, brother, uncle and nephew. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Connie Brown McBride whom he married June 2, 1973 in Cookeville; his son Mark (Stephanie) McBride. The family will receive friends from 4:00 -7:00pm Thursday, August 20 at Hunter Funeral Home. Mark Loftis Netherlands Church of Christ will officiate. Due to Covid, the family encourages visitors to wear a mask.

Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Ruby L. Smith, age 82 of Livingston, on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Algood City Cemetery in Algood. She passed from this life on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Overton Co. Health & Rehab. Mrs. Ruby L. Smith was born in Hilham, Overton Co., TN on Tuesday, November 14, 1933 to the late James Elmer and Annie (Dale) Thompson. Ruby worked for 32 years at the shirt factory and attended Zion Hill Methodist church. Ruby loved her family and friends very much and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include Cynthia Livingston and her husband Randy of Rickman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, August 20th starting at 5 PM to 9 PM. Officiating the service will be Bro. Tommy Harris.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Elva L. Richardson Joynes, age 90, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2020 from the Martin Cemetery. Mrs. Elva passed from this life on Sunday afternoon, August 16, 2020 from the comfort of Morningside Assisted Living in Springfield, Tenn. She was born in Overton County, Tennessee to the late David & Nannie Jane Hensley Richardson. She was a member of the Free Communion Church of Christ. Elva leaves behind her daughter, Brenda Lawrence of Springfield, TN. The family will welcome friends at the Graveside.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Ina Ruth Smith Watkins, age 98, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2020 from the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Bobby Gore will officiate. The family will welcome friends at the cemetery. Mrs. Ruth passed from this life from the comfort of her home on Wednesday morning, August 19, 2020. She was born in Texas on January 23, 1922 to the late Dillard & Mae Matheny Smith. She was a 1940 graduate of Livingston Academy, and a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ. Ruth enjoyed going out to eat, hunting, fishing, and traveling. She liked buying and collecting jewelry, and loved her church family and attending church. She loved life and and meeting people.

Graveside service for Leta Mae Snodgrass, 89 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Gary Humphrey officiating. Mrs. Snodgrass passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Wednesday, November 12, 1930 in Smithville, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Martha Rigsby Cantrell. Mrs. Leta was a long time member of Plain View Free Will Baptist in Sparta.

Funeral services for Leighton Sissom, 85 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ with with private entombment to follow in Crestlawn cemetery. Mr. Sissom died Wednesday August 19 at 12:53 p.m. at his home.
His family will receive friends Friday 4-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Funeral services for Helen O. Dailey, 80, of the Burristown community of Jackson County, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community. She passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 27, 1940, in Jackson County to the late Milton Benton Spivey and Evelyn Olene Flynn Spivey. She was married to the late Paul Dailey. She was a housewife, and a member of the Burristown Church of Christ. She is survived by her son, Kevin Dailey of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

Memorial services for Rev. Bill Ledbetter, age 88 of Livingston, will be held on Saturday, 2pm at Hall Funeral Home. Internment follows at Falling Springs Cemetery, Allred. Bill was born on April 2nd, 1932 in Overton County, Tennessee to Tillmon and Julia Ledbetter. At eighteen, he married his young wife Dorothy and the two later moved to Anderson, Indiana in 1955, where they raised their six children and began their life-long calling. Bill’s many years in the Freewill Baptist ministry were filled with visiting and supporting others-answering the call of those sick, hospitalized and in need of prayer and encouragement. Visitation takes place Saturday from 12-2pm.

Funeral services for Jean Maxwell, 89 of Baxter, will be at 5:00 PM on Saturday August 22, 2020 at Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Brother Gary Norton officiating. Mrs. Maxwell passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020, at her Residence. Jean was the former Co- Owner of the Thunder Bird Restaurant. She was married to the late Liillard Maxwell for 56 years before his passing. She was a member Lilly’s Chaple Baptist Church. Jean is survived by her son, Danny Maxwell.

Mr. Sevier, Was Born On January 19, 1949 In Salisbury, Maryland, To The Late George Franklin And Gwendolyn Jackson Sevier. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, And Friend Is Survived By: His Wife Linda Of 49 Years. Sons Brian (Dani), Kevin (Nikki), Greg (Rachelle). Bill’s Loves Were Hunting, Fishing, Civil War history, Deer And Bird Watching, And Chatting With His Buddy Bobby. Bill And Linda Served As Missionaries In Jamaica Which Was A Springboard To Serving The Lord For His Entire Life. He Led Numerous Bible Studies, Men’s Groups, Leader Of Men’s Ministries And Was An Ordained Minister. He Dedicated His Professional Life To The Education Of Children In Salisbury, Maryland And Broward County, FL For Over 35 Years.
