Obituaries For Monday, October 28

John Taylor, age 76, of Silver Point, passed away Sunday afternoon at NHC of Smithville. Arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral Mass for Ms. Lida Jean “Jeany” Lansford, age 46 of Cookeville, formerly of Sparta, will be 10:00am Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Services will be conducted by conducted by Father John Patrick Day. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. She passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Ms. Lansford was born March 3, 1973 in Ascázubi-Pichincha,Ecuador. When she was a young student at Cardenal Torre, a private school for girls in Ecuador, she was selected school queen, when she a was a student at Baker Elementary School, she was selected as both King and Queen of Baker School. She was a 1991 graduate of White County High School where she was Band Sweetheart. She went on to study at Tennessee Tech, University of Memphis and got a degree in physical therapy from St. Louis College of Health Careers. Her work career spanned from physical therapist to insurance and working as an interpreter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunter Funeral Home PO Box 90, Sparta, TN 38583 to help the family with funeral expenses.

Funeral services for Fred Howard Maynard Jr., age 71, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 at 11:00 am at Presley Funeral Home with Pastors Kerry Higgins and Jerry Buckner officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Tuesday, October 29, 2019, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Fred passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Cookeville, Tennessee following an extended illness. He was born Saturday, December 13, 1947 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Fred Howard Maynard Sr. and Emma Jean Ray Maynard. Fred was a member of Hardy’s Chapel Free Will Baptist church. He retired from the Putnam County Sherriff’s office as a Deputy Sheriff. In additon to serving as a Deputy, Fred spent over 30 years serving this community in civil service.

Funeral services for Dora Mae Malone, age 87, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, October 30th, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Maston Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial. Dora Mae passed away Monday, October 28, 2019 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County in Cookeville. She was born Thursday, September 8, 1932 in Cookeville to the late James Elbert Pryor and Eliza Jane Cobble Pryor. Dora Mae will long be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She attended Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church. Dora Mae was a very active member of the Cookeville Senior Citizen’s Center. In her younger years, she and her husband were avid UT Football fans, and attended most home games. She loved to square dance and play cards with her friends. In addition to her parents, Dora Mae Malone was preceded in death by her husband, Butler Malone; three sisters, Mildred Eller, Kate Ramsey, and Frances Brown; brother, Thurman Pryor. She is survived by a son, David T. Malone and his daughter, Kayla Malone, both of Cookeville; sister, Shirley (Damon) Cannon of Baxter; sister in-law, Anna Rose Malone Vaughn of Cookeville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Wednesday, October 30, 2019, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reba C. Mayberry, 79, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019, at her residence. She was born December 27, 1939, in Putnam County, TN, to the late Robert McBroom and Anne McBroom. She was married to the late Billie Paul Mayberry. She was a factory worker at General Motors, and a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Jolley Sells, age 77, of Monroe will be conducted 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Rev. Hillier Duke will officiate. Burial to follow in the Hatcher Hall Cemetery. Mrs. Frances passed comfortably at her home on Saturday evening, October 26, 2019. She was born in Pickett County to the late Robert Odell & Virgie Griffin Jolley. Frances was a 1960 graduate of Livingston Academy, and a member of the Hatcher Hall Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, fishing, and all of her birds. Frances loved her church family, cooking and preparing communion at Hatcher Hall. Her greatest joy in life was her loving and devoted husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frances leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Raymond Sells of Monroe; daughters, Lisa Sells Reagan & husband Rick of Knoxville, and Cindi Sells Scalici & husband Ralph of Cookeville; son, Jeremiah Sells & wife Teresa of Cookeville; grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, and Brandon Reagan, Adam and Joshua Scalici, and Alannah, Mark, and Michael Sells; great-grandchildren, Lena, Eli, Annika, and Henrik Reagan; brothers, Troy Jolley, and Gib Jolley both of Monroe; sister, Brenda Taylor & husband Wayne of Monroe. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her son, Mark Sells; sister, Joy Bilbrey, and brothers, Todd Jolley, and Robert “Bob” Jolley. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Livingston Funeral Home. Memorial Donations, in Memory of Frances may be made to the Hatcher Hall Christian Church, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.

Funeral services for Harry Reinhart Freitag, age 91, of Cookeville will be held Thursday, October 31st, 2019 at 11:00 am at Presley Funeral Home with Pastors, Pamela Anders Rader and Paul Ramsey, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Thursday, October 31, 2019, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Mr. Freitag passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 at his home in Cookeville, Tennessee surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness. He was born Wednesday, March 7, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Gustav Freitag and Erna Posenauer Freitag.
