Jerry Welch, Age 65, Of Monterey, Passed Away On Saturday, June 5, 2021, At Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center. Private services will Be Conducted With Bro. Brian Berry Officiating. Interment Will Follow In The Welch Memorial Cemetery. Please Contact Family Member For Additional Information. Mr. Welch Was Born On Tuesday, April 3, 1956, In Monterey, To The Late Shirley Jackson And Edna Whittaker Welch. Mr. Welch Was A Master Carpenter And A Former Coal Miner. He Is Survived By His Wife Of Almost 47 Years, Brenda Key Welch Of Monterey, TN; 1 Daughter And Son-In-Law, Crystal And Chad Harris Of Monterey, TN; 1 Son And Daughter-In-Law, Jeffery And Jordan Welch Of Monterey.

Graveside Funeral Services For Steven Wayne “Steve” Hargis, Age 63, Of Monterey, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, At 12:00 PM At The Whittaker Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Floyd Will Officiate With Interment To Follow. Mr. Hargis Was Born On Saturday, January 25, 1958, In Beckley, West Virginia, To The Late Boyd Clifford And Ethel Phillips Hargis. Mr. Hargis Passed Away On Saturday, June 5, 2021, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hargis Worked Many Years At Perdue Farms. He Is Survived By, 2 Brothers, Dewey Hargis Of Monterey, TN, Billy Hargis Of O’Fallon, IL; And Several Nieces And Nephews. The Family Will Receive Friends At Whittaker Cemetery For Graveside Services.

Funeral services for Maymie L Allen, 84 of Bloomington Springs will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Crest Lawn Funeral Home with the Bro. Joel Hillis officiating. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Cookeville. She passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021. Born Thursday, April 15, 1937 in Gainesboro, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Loftis and the late Icie Ballard Loftis. Maymie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to sew in all fashions, gardening and spending time with all of her grandchildren. She is survived by sons Rickey (Wilma) Allen and Donell (Pam) Allen. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

Services for Mr. Melvin F. Brown, age 84 of Rickman, will be held on Tuesday June 8 at 2 PM. Mr. Brown passed away Saturday, June 5 at his home. He was a farmer, avid fisherman and a preacher in Rickman TN for many years and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Golda Brown; and daughters, Annette Brown (Jack) Bilbrey of Rickman, Pam Brown (Randy) Dunn of Algood, and Tonya Brown (Charles) Sims of Monroe. The Family will receive friends between 10 AM and the time of services.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Elizabeth King, age 95 of Hilham, will be conducted 1 PM Wednesday, June 9th, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Bro. John Mabry will officiate. Burial will be in the Hilham Cemetery. Mrs. King passed from this life on Saturday morning, June 5, 2021, from the Overton County Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Elwood, Indiana, on May 23, 1926, to the late William and Iris Hieny Westrater. Betty loved her family, going to church, and quilting. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 9 PM.

Memorial services for Marlon “Marty” Dale Harris, 62 of the Holmes Creek Community of DeKalb County, will be Wednesday, June 9 at 1 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Jim Driver will officiate. Interment will be at Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County at a later date. Marty died suddenly Friday, June 4, 2021 at his home in the Holmes Creek Community. He was born April 12, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan to Billy Everett and Lee Oma Carr Harris of Smithville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Rector Harris on December 19, 2017. Marty graduated from Centerline, Michigan High School in 1977. He attended Snow Hill Baptist Church. Marty worked in assembly at General Motors and later at Precision Molding in Sparta. He enjoyed shooting pool, watching sports on TV, family gatherings and listening to music. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 AM until service time.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Maxwell, 91 of Baxter, will be held Thursday, June 10 at 10:00 AM in the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. TJ Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Samuel Maxwell Cemetery. Mrs. Maxwell died Sunday, June 6 in Morningside of Cookeville. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 5-8 PM and again Thursday 9 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial Services for Norma Faye Holman, 82 of Sparta, will be held at 1PM on Friday, June 11 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Larry Plemons officiating, burial will follow at Old Zion Cemetery. Mrs. Norman passed away on Thursday, June 3 at Cookeville Regional. Norma devoted her life to her family and business Sparta Grill. Her parents opened “The Grill” in 1954. She took over The Grill when her parents retired. Her and husband, Ray Holman, owned and operated Sparta Grill and Holman’s Taxi and Stone’s Recreation for over 50 years. Norma leaves behind a legacy of hard work and her love for her family and friends. Survivors include her daughters, Sarah Beth Thompson and Debbie Lynn (Bryan) Peek, both of Sparta. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 11 AM till the time of service.

Funeral services for Iva Glen Shelton, age 74 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Reverends Jonathan and Erin Angel will officiate. Interment will follow in Morgan-Pippin Cemetery. Iva passed peacefully from this earth on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Signature Healthcare, Whitesburg Gardens in Huntsville, AL. She was surrounded by her children. She is survived by her children, Aldon Shelton (Johanna) and April Shelton (Andrew Schnell) of Huntsville, AL; and David L. Shelton (Jennifer) of Bloomington Springs; her ex-husband and special friend, Eldon Shelton of Cookeville. grandchildren, Darya Kline (Hunter), John-Riley Shelton & Hollie Shelton of Tennessee and Alanna Shelton of Alabama; sisters, Shelby Jean Fillers of Chuckey and Darlene Baskette (Richard) of Limestone. Special nieces and nephews Debbie Andes (Roger), Dewayne Stanton, Ryan Baskette, Kim Johnston Williams (Bob) and Bryan Johnston (Rena). Former brother-in-law, Charles Johnston. In addition, she is survived by her special aunt Trula Gahagan (Spartanburg, SC) and several wonderful cousins, and other family members. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral Services for Jacqueline Nicole Walker, 27 of Spencer, will be Saturday, June 12 at SPENCER Funeral Home at 11 AM with Bro Jimmy walker and Johnathan Hankins officiating, with burial to follow at Spencer Town Cemetery. Ms. Walker passed away Saturday, June 5. Ms. Walker was born on October 19, 1993, in Lebanon, TN to Jackie and Bridget Walker. She enjoyed training horses, and art. Surviving family includes Father, Jackie Walker of Spencer; mother, Bridget Lynn Walker of Spencer; and children, Briley Baker, and Timber Walker.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10 at SPENCER Funeral Home from 4 pm – 8 pm.

Memorial services for David Edward James, age 85 of Cookeville, will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 12th, 2021 with Bro. Christian Smith and Katherine Hall officiating at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville TN. He passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. David was born Tuesday, April 14, 1936, Rushford, New York, to the late Paul Harold James and Mary Luckey. David was a truck driver and worked many years over the road. Survived by: Wife – Ethel P. James, Cookeville; Daughter – Denise J. Newberry; Son – Donald E. James. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to the time of services.
