Funeral services for Doris Lucille Estes Downs, 92, of Sparta, will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Cumberland Heights Church of Christ in Sparta 11:00 am officiating will be Bro. Butch Bess. Interment will follow in the newly christened Cumberland Heights Cemetery on adjacent church property. She went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2019. Mrs. Downs was born on August 27, 1926, in McCracken County, Kentucky, to Arthus Estes, Sr. and Euple Thweatt Estes Shelby. She was preceded in death by her brother, Billy N. Estes, and by Joe E. Downs, her husband of 56 years. Most of her younger years were spent in Michigan or in and around Paducah, Kentucky. It was in Paducah that she met Joe Earl Downs, who would become her husband on November 26, 1948. Throughout her life, she was well-read, plainspoken, sharp minded, and tirelessly faithful to her Christian faith. She was a remarkable Bible scholar. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, and decorate cakes. She also read all the time and never missed the TV show Jeopardy or an Atlanta Braves baseball game. Pallbearers: David Downs, Jonathan Downs, Gabe Villareal, Ricky Overton, Tyler Downs and Derick Bilbrey. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29, 2019, at Cumberland Heights Church of Christ in Sparta, TN from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m.
Memorial services for Mr. Charles Robert Buckner, 82 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, July 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Buckner passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. His family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Gary Howard Brewington, age 69, of Cookeville, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday July 30 at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Gaw will officiate. Interment will follow in the Double Springs Cemetery. Gary’s family will receive friends Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. at Washington Avenue Baptist Church and again Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at the church. Gary passed away Saturday July 27, 2019 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County.
Memorial Services for Joe Pat Clark, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday Evening, July 30, 2019 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until Service Time on Tuesday. He passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born November 21, 1937 in Overton County, TN to the late B.C. and Stella Maynard Clark. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Kendrick Clark and Fred Clark, 2 sisters: Marie Sevier and Bennie Jean Wall. Joe Pat was the owner of the Country Squire Mens Store in Sparta. He was also a Carpet Broker and a Farmer. He served in the Tennessee National Guard where he was a First Lieutenant. Memorials may be made to Genesis House.
Funeral services for Pat Moran, Jr. 53 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2019 beginning at 12:00 noon at Trinityalgood Church at 205 West Wall Street, Algood, with Pastor Mike Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Algood City Cemetery. Pat passed from this life Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Monday, January 17, 1966 in Cookeville He was the son of the late John, Sr. and Linda (Kinnaird) Moran. Pat was a loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of Trinityalgood Church, and was involved in numerous community activities… too many to list. Pat is survived by his wife of 31 years: Jennifer (Ballinger) Moran of Cookeville; 2 Daughters: Julie and Scott Proffitt of Springfield; Emily Moran and Fiancé Daniel James of Cookeville. 1 Brother and Sister-in-law: Eric and Nikki Moran and their son Will of Cookeville. A host of Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Grandparents. Geneva came from a rather large family that consisted of two brothers and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Chris Junior Booher, Wayne Edward Booher; sisters, Joyce Leallice Danner, Evelyn Marie Mathis, Pansy Louise Booher and Geraldine Booher. Geneva was also preceded in death by one child, Wilma Joan Carter Brown Dennis; and two grandsons, Jonathan Corey Phipps and Benjamin “Ben” Fredrick Jolley. The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening, August 3, 2019 from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.
