Obituaries For Monday, February 10

Charlie Mae Cooper, 93 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral Services for Pamela Jane Ruttledge, age 74 of Sparta, will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Central Church of Christ in Sparta, TN at 11 am with Christopher Wiles officiating, burial will follow at O’Connor Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 am till the time of the service. Pam was born in Portland, Oregon on September 8, 1945 to the late Oran and Virginia Denhard, the older of five children. She graduated from Sandy Hugh School and continued to earn a degree at Oregon Health and Science University. During her 46-year career in health care, she specialized in X-ray and Mammography, eventually retiring from a supervisory position in 2011. In December 1984, Pam married Dwight Ruttledge (USAF). Dwight and Pam, along with their beloved family, were then stationed in Germany where she worked in a NATO hospital. After Dwight retied from the military in 1989, the family relocated to Satellite Beach, FL where Pam worked at Holmes Regional Hospital. Throughout her life, Pam’s passion was creating. She became an exceptional quilter and painter. She also loved kayaking the Florida waters and traveling. While vacationing in Hawaii, Pam “conquered her fear” by parasailing for the very first time and looked forward to doing it again. In December 2018 the Ruttledges moved from Florida to Sparta, TN, where they enjoyed lots of extended family.

Funeral services for Roy Douglas Stafford, 81 of White County, are at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Scoggins and Bro. David Williams officiating with visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11. He departed this life peacefully and surrounded by his family in his home on Sunday, Feb. 9. Mr. Stafford was a resident of the Cassville community in White County, where he had lived since the age of 7. He was born on Sept. 20, 1938 in Jackson County. Mr. Stafford was the second of six children born to Lando G. Stafford and Ruby (McCoin) Stafford, both of whom preceded him in death. His sister, Janice Hutson, died in March 2019. He married on Dec. 20, 1958 and is survived by his wife, Mary (Hudson). He also leaves two sons, Jeff (Sherrie) and Jack (Carrie), all of Sparta, his daughter, Gina (Bill Phelps), of Chattanooga; grandchildren John Douglas (J.D.) Stafford (Ashley), Bridgette (Brent Lawson); and twin great-grandsons, Malcolm and David Lawson, age 8, all of Sparta. He also is survived by his sisters, Joyce Broyles of Sparta, Charlotte Tays (Clarence Jr.) of Cookeville; and brothers, Garvis, of McMinnville, and Gary (Wanda), of Sparta. Mr. Stafford was a 1957 White County High School graduate who served with the Tennessee Army National Guard from 1957 to 1963. He was a longtime dairy and beef cattle farmer before going into business as a general contractor and eventually starting a pipeline construction company. He was a member of the Tennessee Farm Bureau for more than 60 years and, prior to his retirement from full-time farming, was a member of the board of the White County Soil Conservation District for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. He served two terms as a member of the board of directors of the DeWhite Utility District in the 1990s. Throughout his life, Mr. Stafford enjoyed returning to his birthplace and childhood home in Jackson County to research family and community history. In retirement, he became an avid vegetable gardener and established an orchard of more than two-dozen fruit trees. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ.

Memorial service for Kimberly Lynn Byers, age 47 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2020, beginning at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. She passed from this life Sunday, February 9, 2020, at her home. She was born Saturday, November 18, 1972, in Anderson, Indiana, she was the daughter Marjorie (Melton) Whidby and the late Donnie Hummel. Kim was a loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, and friend to all who knew her. She loved Cross Stitching, Crocheting and  Cooking. She is survived by: Mother: Marjorie (Melton) Whidby of Algood; 1 Son: John Isaac Byers of Algood; 1 Sister and Brother-in-law: Jennifer and Jacob Kutz of Algood. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, February 12 after 10:00 AM.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pat McCanless, age 88 of Cookeville, will be held Friday February 14 at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Pat’s family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Pat died Sunday morning, February 9th at 8:41 a.m. at her home.

Memorial services for Myra Colleen Cook, age 72, of Granville, will be held Saturday February 15 at 1 p.m. at Granville United Methodist Church. Chad Argo will officiate. Myra passed away Saturday February 8, 2020 at her home. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.

A Memorial Service for Tony Martin Jellinich, 78 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the Sparta Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His spiritual brother, Ron Cabral, will be the speaker at his memorial service. Everyone is welcome to attend. He passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020, peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loved ones. Tony loved fishing, hunting, farming, working in his garden, and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. Even though Matilta was mean, he loved his cow. He was an active member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Tony and Florence Jellinich; Brother, Richard; Son, Richard; and Great-Grandson, Blake. Survivors include: Wife of 58 years- Violette; Children- Daughter-in-Law, Connie, Karla (Scott), Tonya (Steve), Coriena (Ted), Jody (Derick), and Joe; 15 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Brothers, and 1 Sister.

A graveside service for Edward Porter Dodson, 84, of Sparta, will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2 pm at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Brent Tevebaugh officiating. He passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at NHC of Sparta, TN. He was born in McMinnville, TN on September 08, 1935 to the late Robert and Allene Rogers Dodson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his; Wife: Alice Marie Dodson. Survivors include: Sons- Dale Dodson (Debra) and Chad Dodson (Lisa) all of Sparta, Brother- Wilburn Dodson of Sparta, TN.
