Jim Krautkramer, 77 of Cookeville passed away on Sunday August 2. 2020. at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Carl Seiter, age 85 of Cookeville. passed away Sunday morning August 2 at his home. Arrangements are incomplete.

Graveside Funeral Services For James Steven Walker Also Known As “Bro”, Age 56, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Tuesday, August 4 At 11:00 AM At The Wilson Cemetery. Rev. Verna Seager And Rev. Bobby Floyd Will Officiate. Mr. Walker Was Born On July 14, 1964 In Monterey, Tennessee To The Late Hubert And Thelma Raines Walker. r. Walker Passed Away Suddenly On Saturday, August 1, 2020, At His Home. Mr. Walker Was A Brick And Block Mason For Many Years. He Is Survived By, 1 Son, Laken Pemberton Of Monterey and many sisters.

Graveside service and interment for Dorothy “Dot” Nell Brown, 96 of Baxter will be Tuesday, August 4, 1pm at Alvin Byrd Bruce Family Cemetery on Bruce Ridge Road. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 11 AM until 1 PM at Dyer Funeral Home then we will leave for the graveside service. Due to COVID-19 social distancing will be observed. Mrs. Brown died Friday, July 31, 2020 at her home. She was born January 28, 1924 in Baxter to the late James Scott Watts and Eva Lena Bruce Watts. She was a graduate of Baxter Seminary. She was a lab technician at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. She also was a sales clerk at Sears and a homemaker. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, canning and freezing vegetables and working in her flower garden. Survivors include daughter Cynthia Jared of Baxter, son and daughter-in-law Lee and Lisa Brown of Baxter.

Funeral services for Mr. Eddie Strong, age 75 of Jackson County, will be Tuesday, august 4, 2020 at 1 pm in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Lynn Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Anderson, Bro. Duane Gossett and Bro. Matthew Scoggins will officiate at the service. He was born October 12, 1944 in Jackson County, Tn and he passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at his residence at the age of 75. Mr. Strong was the son of Comer and Reba Mayberry Strong, a retired grocery store owner of Strong’s Grocery in the Burristown Community, a farmer and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. Mr. Eddie was a veteran of the US Army. He married Betty Jean Phann Strong on May 23, 1964 for a total of 56 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Betty Strong of Gainesboro; son, Chip (Alicia) Strong of Gainesboro; daughter, Lisa Scantland of Gainesboro; brother, Billy Strong of Cookeville; sister, Rose Mary Sharp of Nashville; four grandchildren, Jesse (Miranda) Strong, David (Kimberlea) Strong, Jacob Scantland and Jaryn Scantland. Visitation with the family will be 3 – 8 pm on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home and again on Tuesday, 11am to 1 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to Lynn Cemetery, Peek Cemetery or to Happy Haven Home by contacting the funeral home. Due to COVID 19, the family requests that visitors please wear facemasks.

Funeral services for James Lee “Jimmy” Jones, age 61 of Baxter, will be at 1 p.m Tuesday August 4 at Herren’s Chapel Church of Christ. Bro. Tommy Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow at G. V. Herren Cemetery. Jimmy passed away Saturday morning August 1, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1959 in Barberton, OH as the youngest son of Warren G. and Lorna “Lucy” Herren Jones. He moved to Baxter in 1972 where he graduated from Upperman High School a year early in the class of 1976. He was a member of Herren’s Chapel Church of Christ where he enjoyed serving in many capacities, but preferred song leading. For the last 30 years, he was the owner/operator of J. L. Jones Backhoe Service. What began with a single backhoe quickly expanded to a large collection of dump trucks and heavy equipment. Many of Jimmy’s customers and colleagues became his dear friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of food and flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the G. V. Herren Cemetery Fund, c/o Lorna Lee, 9715 Old Baxter Rd, Baxter, TN 38544.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bobby “Balis” Cravens, age 80 of Rickman, will be conducted 2 pm Tuesday, August 4th, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Bro. Bruce Mullinix will officiate. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Monday evening from 5 until 8 pm at Speck Funeral Home. Mr. Cravens passed from this life on Saturday night, August 1, 2020, from Standing Stone Care and Rehab. He was born on March 13, 1940, to the late Clesten and Ila Savage Cravens. He enjoyed fishing, coaching baseball, and being competitive with his son. Mr. Cravens is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Patsy Cravens of Rickman; daughter Patricia Cravens of Rickman; sons Jamie Cravens and wife Cassandra of Rickman and Bobby Cravens and wife Elizabeth of Cookeville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Helen Taylor, age 97 of the Dry Hollow Community, will be conducted 3 pm Wednesday, August 5th, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. Nolan Cantrell and Bro. David Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Geneva Helen Taylor passed away peacefully Saturday, August 1st, at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. She was born near Blytheville, Arkansas, on January 14, 1923, to parents Mark K. Skelton and Dora Lucy Skelton. Geneva was a Christian and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She loved her family, fishing, church, and gardening. She also loved teaching children in Sunday School and being the “candy lady” at church. She was the best mother anyone could have to the very end of her days. Survived by daughters Marilyn Thorne (Lanier) of Bartlett, TN and Rebecca Thompson (Randall Boswell) of the Dry Hollow Community of Overton County. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 pm and again on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of services at 3 pm at Livingston Funeral Home.
