Obituaries For Monday, August 19

Mrs. Glennis D. Walker, age 89 of Livingston, passed from this life on Monday morning, August 19, 2019, from Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Sherry Rena (Tollett) Whisenant, 55 of Cookeville, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. Sherry chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.

Graveside services and interment for Janet Lee Bush, age 76, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday August 20 at Double Springs Cemetery. Bro Kerry Higgins will officiate. Mrs. Bush passed away Sunday evening August 18, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 30, 1943 in Detroit. MI to the late Silas and Opal Sliger West. Mrs. Bush was retired from Russell Stover with 27 years of service. She was a member of Taylor Seminary Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Melissa (Terry) Savage, and Regina (Stan) McGinniss all of Cookeville; brother, James (Joyce) West of Baxter; and two grandchildren, Ginger and Sam McGinniss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Eugene Bush; son, Terry Bush; sister, Hilda Vinson; brother, Bob West; and granddaughter, Jennifer Smith. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Funeral services with full Military Honors for Leonard Franklin Flatt, age 88, of Baxter will be held on Tuesday at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Bro. Gary West will officiate at the service and family will serve as Pallbearers. The burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Baxter. The family of Mr. Flatt will receive friends at the funeral home, on Tuesday from 9:00am until time of services at 1:00pm. Mr. Flatt was a member of Nash Grove Baptist Church and Worked at the Cookeville Boat Dock for many years as a Repair man. He served his Country in the Marines during the Korean War. Leonard Franklin Flatt was born in Jackson County on September 17, 1930 to the late Thomas and Lisa Essie Flatt. He passed away on August 16, 2019 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral Service for Carl Eugene Pruett, age 70 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 10:00 am from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. He passed from this life on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Overton County Health And Rehab Center in Livingston. Carl was born Sunday, September 12, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Arthur Duke and Anna Belle (Jobe) Pruett. Carl served in the United States Army in the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment. He was in the Vietnam War. Carl has been an active member of the Cookeville Church of the Nazarene for a number of years. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, and on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 9:00 am until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Freda Whitefield, age 89, of Baxter will be held on Wednesday at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The Burial will follow in the Crest Lawn Cemetery in Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 12:00pm until time of services at 2:00pm. She was a Homemaker and of the Church of God faith. Freda Whitefield was born in Putnam County on July 3, 1930 to the late Donald and Helen Maxwell Sadler. She passed away on August 17, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville.

Funeral Service for Anthony “Tony” Lorne Savage, 61 of Algood, will be held Friday, August 23, 2019, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Livingston. Tony passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019, at his home. Tony was born Wednesday, July 16, 1958, in Livingston. He was the son of the late Walter Floyd Savage, Jr., and the late Margaret Frances Alene (Gabbard) Savage. Tony was everyone’s friend and would be known to say” I Love You My Heart and Yea Yea Yea Dat’s Right.” He retired from Tennessee Tech after 27 years. Tony is survived by: 2 Sons: Anthony Jr., and Arron Savage; 9 Siblings: Richard and Kim Savage, Odell Savage and Partner Karen, Thomas and Linda Savage, Troy and Linda Savage, Ann Savage, Robbie and Jerry Hayes, Juanita Cartwright, Vonetta Fairley, and Charletta Varner. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by Sister, Shirley Patterson. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2019, and again, Friday, August 23, 2019, from 12:00 pm until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

A celebration of life for for Billy Mann “Bill” Piper, 86 of Cookeville will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. He passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Bill was born February 5, 1933, in Pleasant Shade, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Robert E. Lee Piper and the late Bessie (Sloan) Piper. Bill was a Tennessee Tech and University of Tennessee graduate.
