Obituaries For Monday, August 12

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth Vaughn Thrasher, age 93, of Livingston will be conducted 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. James Allen Thrasher will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Monday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Mrs. Thrasher passed from this life on Friday morning, August 9, 2019 from the comfort of her home in Livingston. She was born in Overton County Tennessee, to the late Joe W. & Clementen McCormick Vaughn. She was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Ruth enjoyed reading, gardening, walking and traveling. She made beautiful works of art with her needle and thread, and loved her family dearly.

Funeral services for Marvin Welch Saylors, Sr., age 81 of the Cherry Creek Community, will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in the Nash Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday evening. Thomas Lee Davis and Chris Reagan will officiate the service, with Larry Bubba Johnson providing the Music. He passed away on Saturday afternoon, August 10, 2019 at his residence. He was born in White County, TN to the late Wesley Welch and Gertie Clarce Nash Saylors. He was also preceded in death by a infant brother: Hamp Eugene Saylors and a brother: Sam Saylors. Mr. Marvin was retired from Fleetguard after 33 years. He earlier was a welder for the King Corporation for 13 years , and enjoyed farming as well. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Roy Neil Blythe, age 66, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, August 13th, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Cemetery in White County. Neil passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville following a brief illness. Neil retired from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office after 35 years service. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Most of all, he loved to play golf. Neil is survived by his two children, Jason N. (Sadie) Blythe of Livingston, and Nichole (Matt) Summers of Franklin; five grandchildren, Dalton and Daniel Summers, Rellon, Robert Bo, and Robyn Blythe. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 12, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Tuesday, August 13, 2019, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Teresa Darlene Officer “Cookie” Milton, age 57 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Oakwood Street Church of Christ with burial in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8:00pm at the church. Bro. Erman Williams will officiate. She passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Cookie was born June 19, 1962 in Sparta to the late James Edward “Butch” & Mary Frances Cullom Officer. She was a basketball standout at WCHS and went on to a career at Martin Methodist and later Tennessee Tech. Following her playing career at Tech, she joined Keith Short’s coaching staff at her alma mater where she also taught Special Education. After her teaching and coaching career ended she babysat children. She was a member of Oakwood Street Church of Christ. She loved to care for children and draw.

Funeral Services for Mr. Tommy Lee Danner, age 82 of Hilham, will be conducted 2 P.M., Tuesday, August 13th, at West End Church of Christ in Livingston. Bro. Kerry Duke will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday from 11 A.M. until time of services at 2 P.M. at West End Church of Christ. Mr. Danner passed from this life on Saturday, August 10, 2019, from the comfort of his home. He was born in Overton County on May 11, 1937, to the late Virgil and Dimple Cobble Danner. Tommy loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Funeral services for Mr. Michael L. Kruger, age 53 of Allons, will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10 AM in the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Wright’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 5 PM to 9 PM. Officiating will be Bro. Ryan Barnham. Mr. Kruger went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Livingston Regional Hospital. Mr. Michael L. Kruger was born in Kankakee, IL on March 7, 1966 to Linda and the late Chuck Kruger. Michael was a member of the Wright’s Chapel Baptist Church. He worked at Algood Walmart as an assistant manager. Michael loved his family and church family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services for Victoria Denise Parker Gentry, age 67 of Sparta, will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in the Old Bon Air Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening. She passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was born October 2, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan. Vicky was a retired Truck Driver.
