Obituaries For Friday, October 18

David “Buck” Dalton Braden, 62 of Gainesboro, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Mabry Health Care & Rehabilitation in Gainesboro. David was born Tuesday, November 27, 1956, in Santa Ana, California and he was the son of the late William Joseph Braden and Beverly Emma (Quern) Beam. David is survived, Wife, Vienna Marie (Guerrero) Braden, 2 Children: Jonathan David Braden, and Heather Marie Baker and husband Shane Allen Baker; 3 Grandchildren: Bryant Ellis Lynn, Gavin Lucas Baker, and Harper Marie Baker; 2 Sisters: Tonia Murphy, and Candace Bays; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by: Step-Father, Bob Beam. David chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Funeral Services for Colonel Angelo (Angel) Domingo Fernandez, USMC (Ret), age 83 of Sparta, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday October 19 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Fr. John Patrick Day will officiate. Interment will military honors provided by a US Marine Corps Honor Guard will follow at the Cookeville City Cemetery. Angel was born in New York City on November 9, 1935, one of three sons, and was raised in his parent’s bar and restaurant business in Manhattan’s Harlem neighborhood. Angel retired from Cummins Filtration in June 2002 and began his next career as a fine art painter and instructor. A self-taught fine art painter endlessly seeking improvement through classes, workshops, art books, and confraternity with other artists. He enjoyed painting with all media especially pastels, charcoal, watercolor, and oil paints. Angel was a member of the Cookeville Art Studio and Gallery, and member of the Portrait Society of America as well as a contributing writer of their Literary Committee. His family will receive friends Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Bernice E. (Gore) Howard age 83 of Martinsville, IN formerly of Overton Co., will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 1 PM in the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine. She passed away on October 15, 2019. Mrs. Howard was born in Rickman on December 22, 1935 to the late Maxine (Warren) and Haskell Gore. Survivors: 2 Sons: Randal (Nicki) Howard, Grady (Angie) Howard Jr.; 2 Daughters: Karen Howard, Kathy (Rick) Hicks; 4 Sisters: Betty Blair, Bobbie Secrest, Judy Crabtree, Brenda Allen; 3 Brothers: Argyl Gore, Garry Gore, Mark Gore; 5 Grandchildren: Samantha (Dan) Kunz, Cody (Kati) Deckard, Ellery (Chad) Beard, Danielle Deckard, Bry (Kariann) Howard; 3 Great Grandchildren: Kennedy Deckard, Colton Deckard, Hayes Howard; A host of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends also survive. Preceded in death: By her parents; Husband: Grady Howard. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the funeral home from 4 PM to 8 PM.

Funeral services for Solen Ardell Sherrell, age 79, of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday October 19 at Dyer Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Gaw will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Solen passed away Thursday morning October 17, 2019 at St Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. He was born November 5, 1939 in White County to the late Verble and Blanche Cason Sherrell. Solen was a member and deacon at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. He was a former home builder and retired from Universal Plastics. Solen was a lifelong sports fan. He graduated from Central High School in 1958 where he played football. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Neda Ashburn Sherrell, whom he married June 30, 1962; son, Bo (Elaina) Sherrell of Cookeville; granddaughter, Cameron (Dylan) Brown; nieces, Sandra Bingham (fiance, Tracey Mullins), Kristi (Eddie) Randolph, Lisa Whitehead, Jackie Smith; nephews, Robin Smith, Tim Smith, Jeff (Amy) Smith; sisters-in-law, Ruth Sherrell, Helen Lafever, Lorell Rhoten, Debbie (Rick) Wheeler; brothers-in-law, Ernest Ashburn (Faye), Thurman Ashburn (Claudia), Ronald Ashburn; and Solen’s furry friends, Cody and Mufffin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Jean Sherrell; brother, Olen Sherrell. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 – 8 p.m and again Saturday from 11 a.m.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Beverly L. Denny, age 70, of Lebanon, Tennessee will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Nelson Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 12 until time of services at Speck Funeral Home. Mrs. Beverly passed from this life on Tuesday morning, October 15, 2019 in Lebanon, Tennessee. She was born in Lake County, Tennessee to the late Orville N. & Hazel S. Swindle Alexander. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Beverly loved the outdoors, gardening, the Smokey Mountains, and her family dearly.

A celebration of life for Steven “Steve” Johnson, 44, of Gainesboro, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family asks that attendees wear their Dallas Cowboys colors to the service, if possible. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. Masonic services will be held on Friday at 8 P.M. He passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born December 16, 1974, in Eastland, TX, to Mary Ann Jasper and the late Clarence “Gene” Johnson. On July 22, 2000, he was married to Chevelle Johnson, who survives. He worked as an HVAC vocational school instructor, and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his Father: Clarence “Gene” Johnson. Survivors include his Wife: Chevelle Johnson of Gainesboro; 2 Sons: Jeret Goad and Dallas Johnson, both of Gainesboro; 1 Daughter: Lindsey Goad of Gainesboro; his Mother: Mary Ann (Clinton) Jasper of Gainesboro; Step Brother: Gavin Jasper; and Step Sister: Tia Jasper. Several cousins and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Steve Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund by contacting the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life Service for James McCloud, age 71, of Cookeville, will be 3 p.m. Saturday October 19 at Jefferson Avenue Church of God of Prophecy. Dana Fouts, Thelma Roby, and Carl Seibers will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. James passed away Monday October 14, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born September 28, 1948 in Sparta, TN to the late Comer and Callie Naomi Underwood McCloud. James was a retired custodian at Algood Elementary School. He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of God of Prophecy and was a preacher and pastor for over 38 years at local churches.

A masonic service followed by a memorial service for Mr. William Paul Bluege, age 80 of Cookeville and formerly of Jefferson, WI, will be held Saturday, October 19th at 3:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. His family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Bluege passed on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born September 29, 1939 in Chicago, IL to the late Emil and Helen Drager Bluege. He received his bachelor’s degree from Concordia University Chicago and a masters degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. He served as principal as West Elementary in Jefferson, Wisconsin. He also owned Blues Brothers Storage in Jefferson and he was very active in the Rotary Club of Jefferson. He and his wife Gerry have lived in Cookeville for the last 14 years where he has been active mason with Cookeville Lodge F&AM #266.

A Memorial Service for Patricia C. Farley, 80, of Sparta will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 3:30 pm at North Sparta Church of GOD with Bro. Steve Gerhart officiating. She passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at her home in Sparta. Mrs. Farley was born on November 7, 1938 to the late Walter Alford Richard Rainbird and Connie May Harrington Rainbird in Watford, England. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Brother- Roy Alford Richard Rainbird. Survivors include: Daughter- Debbie Farley Roberts (Henry)of Sparta; Son- Larry Dale Farley; And many special family members. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 2:00-3:30 at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you make donations to the Humane Society or Sparta Animal Shelter.

Graveside service for Mrs. Falbia Fisher Tubb, age 101 of Sparta, will be held 3:30 pm Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Plainview Cemetery in the Cassville Community. Christopher Wiles will officiate the services. She passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 at her residence. She was born October 9, 1918 in Smith County to the late William Levi and Pollie Herron Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her Husband: Dibrell D. Tubb, son: Darrell Tubb, Brothers: William Dewey Fisher, U.L. Fisher, and Jackie Fisher, and Sister: Arah Fisher Tollison. Survived by: Son & Daughter-in-law: Blanchard and Joan Tubb of Sparta; Granddaughters: Shannon Cantrell and Holly Cravens; Great-Grandkids: Dakota Cantrell, Dusty Cantrell, Caleb Cravens, Makenna Cravens, Dylan Cantrell, and Harleigh Huckeby; Great-Great-Granddaughter: Renleigh Cantrell; Daughter-in-law: Babette Tubb; Along with several Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Saturday.

A Celebration of Life for Hope Riely Long, 20 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 beginning at 4:00 PM. from the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Hope passed from this life Monday, October 7, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Hope was born Thursday, December 31, 1998 in Whittier, California, she was the daughter of Patrick Long and Jennifer Stoker. Hope was a loving Mother, Daughter, and friend to all who knew her. Hope loved fishing with her pet Max, Art, such as paintings and sketchings. She loved music and dancing around the house. She is survived by: 1 Daughter: Rory May Long of Cookeville; Mother: Jennifer (Mark) DeFalco of Cookeville; Father: Patrick (Gabriella) Long of California; 2 Sisters: Pat Long of Cookeville, Stephanie Sandoval of California; 1 Brother: Anthony DeFalco of Cookeville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Lee Smith Maynord age 83 of Livingston, will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Maynord Family Cemetery. She passed from this life on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Ruby was born to the late James Walter and Mary (Sells) Smith on September 30, 1936. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church in Livingston. Ruby was entrepreneur who started businesses to help people in this community. Her customers loved her stores and the conversations that were had amongst her and her customers would put a smile on your face. Ruby was 1 of eight children. Her husband had six children and they loved there family so much. Ruby will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors: 1 Daughter: Lynn Jolley and her husband Bert; 3 Sons: Eric Maynord, Rick Maynord and wife Sherry, Ronnie Maynord and wife Gail; 3 Brothers: Louis Smith, Franklin “Peck” Smith, Bruce Smith; 14 Grandchildren: Joey Huddleston, Danielle Coffman, Andrea Delgrosso, Ashley Crain, Rhonda Riley, Sarah White, Mandy Looper, Casey York, Mary-Heather Ashburn, Mitchell Maynord, Robbie Maynord, Gracie Maynord, Chloe Maynord, Daniel Jolley; 15 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death: In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maynord was preceded in death by her husband Robert Maynord; 2 Sons: Darrell Maynord & Mike Maynord; 1 Granddaughter: Amy Maynord; 4 Siblings: Claira Ann Hunter, Maxine Harlow, Talma Gene Smith & Delon Smith. Eddie Kilgore Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Whittaker Cemetery. Mr. Wallace Was Born On August 16, 1938, In Monterey, To The Late Enis Harrison And Annie Marie Tays Wallace. Mr. Wallace Passed Away On Wednesday, October 16, 2019, At The St. Thomas Highland Hospital In Sparta. Mr. Wallace Was A Truck Driver And Building Contractor. He Was A Member Of Faith Baptist Church In Crossville. He Was A United States Army Veteran. He Is Survived By, 4 Daughters, Melanie Wallace And Jewell Williams Of Georgia, Crystal Wallace Of Georgia, Linda Ann Howard Of Crossville, Willene And Glen Henry Of Crossville; Son, Chad And Christy Wallace Of Crossville; 11 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Mae And Stan Winski Of New York; Brother, Ike And Doreen Wallace Of Florida. Interment will follow in the Sand Springs Memorial Gardens. Raymond passed from this life on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Ormond Beach, Florida. Raymond was born on June 21, 1976, in Cookeville to Ernest Ray and Dolly Sue (Randolph) Smith. Raymond is survived by Wife, Debbie Smith, 4 Children, Alex Daniels, Cameron Smith, Will Smith, and Austin Daniels; Father and Mother, Ray and Sue Smith, Brother, Mickey and Melinda Smith, Sisters, Kathy, and Mike Franklin, Kimberly, and Randy Brown. Raymond was preceded in death by, Paternal Grandparents, Jim and Stella Smith, Maternal Grandparents, Dee and Ina Randolph. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Monday, October 21, 2019, at 11:00 am until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Edna Virginia Young, age 82 of White County, will be at 4:00 pm Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Christ Point Church on the Square in Sparta. Burial will be in the Young Cemetery. Edna passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at her residence. Edna was born June 5, 1937 in Sparta to the late Mack & Lennie Cunningham Young. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by brothers: Elemer Young, Donald Young, James Young, Sisters: Treva England, Nancy Coates and Rosey Young a beloved great-granddaughter-in-law: Tammy Hood Young. She was a former employee of Red Kapp for over 30 years. She was a Godly woman who had a great love for her family and sacrificed unselfishly. She also had a great love for animals too, especially dogs and loved collecting anything that had Elvis Presley on it. She is survived by her 3 daughters: Ivie (Kerry) Young of Sparta, Pamela (Joe) Robbins of Smyrna, and Connie Young & fiance’ Jeff Phifer of Sparta; 2 Sons: Larry Young and Michael Young both of Sparta; Grandchildren: Jamie Young, Jesse Young, Travis Young, Shenna Prince, Amber Young, David Earls and Josh Earls; Great-Grandchildren: Deric, Philip, Zion, Gabriella, Gage, Destiny, Stormi, Caleb, Johnny, Jr., Ashton, Bae Rose, David II, Malalanna, Madalyn, Jocelyn, Isaac and Briana; Great-Great-Grandchildren: Natalie Young and Isiah Young. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 pm until Service time.
