Funeral Services For Helen Harris, Age 74, Of The Anderson Community Of Monterey, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, May 29, 2021, At 11:00 AM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Bro. Adam Hargis Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Phillips Cemetery In The Anderson Community. Mrs. Harris Was Born On Tuesday, April 15, 1947, In Overton County, Tennessee, To Martha Ruth Phillips Wilson Of Monterey, Tennessee, And The Late Clayton Wilson. Mrs. Harris Passed Away On Thursday, May 27, 2021, At Her Daughter’s Home In Algood, Tennessee. Mrs. Harris Was A Garment Factory Worker. She Was Baptist In Faith. In Addition To Her Mother, She Is Survived By, 1 Daughter, Jennifer Harris Of Algood, TN; 1 Son And Daughter-In-Law, Jeffrey And Sarah Harris Of Monterey. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Saturday, May 29, 2021, From 10:00 AM Until Time Of Services At 11:00 AM.

Funeral services for Vella Haney, 69 of the Shiloh community of Jackson County, will be held on Saturday, May 29 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Okalona Cemetery in Rickman. Miss Haney passed away on Thursday, May 27 at her residence. She was born August 31, 1951, in Rickman. She was the daughter of the late EM Dishman and Bessie L. Dishman. She worked as a seamstress. She is survived by two sons, Sherman Haney and Junior Lee Haney, both of Cookeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral Services for Mr. Chester Nation, age 88 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, May 29 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Nation was born October 9, 1933 in Livingston to the late Clay M. and Austin Sells Nation. He worked for Sparta Spoke Factory for 24 years. Chester loved to fish and was a fantastic shade tree mechanic. Survivors include his children, Randy Nation, and Teresa Ann Donald) McCormick. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00am-1:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Dean Gist, age 71 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, May 30 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Davis Cemetery. Linda Cheers will officiate. Arthur was employed at a local shirt factory, and his favorite pastime was golf. He never actually played the game, but he loved to watch it. Arthur especially enjoyed keeping up with Tiger Woods’ career. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mildred Strode Gist; and children, Tony (Jeannie) Strode, Ronald Strode, Donald (Jennifer) Strode, Darlene Gist, and Charlene (Jordan) Gist Jolley. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00-2:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Slaven, 61 of Livingston, will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 2 at Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Monday officiating. Miss Slaven passed away on Thursday, May 27 at her home. Born Monday, March 2, 1960 in Spencer, she was the daughter of the late Elmo Frady and the late Dora Bradley Lewis. Libby was a loving mother and grandmother and friend. She would never turn anyone away that needed her. Survivors include her children, Celesta Slaven, and Darrell Slaven. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday, June 2 at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

A Celebration of life for the family and friends of Kathleen Reid, 77 of Cookeville, will be held at Logan’s Roadhouse on Friday, June 4th, from 1-3 PM. Mrs. Reid passed away Tuesday, May 25. Kathy was a member of Life Church in Cookeville and a Christian. She had a passion for exercise and yoga, crediting those activities for extending her life and keeping her physically conditioned enough to receive a heart transplant. According to Vanderbilt Hospital records, at 75 years old, Kathy became the oldest person in the country to receive a heart transplant. Her immediate family celebrating her life are her husband of 35 years, Tony Reid; children, Susan Rotay, Mark and Dawn DeMaertelaere, Andrew DeMaertelaere, and step-daughter, Cynthia Reid.

Memorial services for David Edward James, age 85 of Cookeville, will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 12th, 2021 with Bro. Christian Smith and Katherine Hall officiating at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville TN. He passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. David was born Tuesday, April 14, 1936, Rushford, New York, to the late Paul Harold James and Mary Luckey. David was a truck driver and worked many years over the road. Survived by: Wife – Ethel P. James, Cookeville; Daughter – Denise J. Newberry; Son – Donald E. James. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to the time of services.
