Obituaries For Friday, June 7

Scott Steven McLean, 65 of Sparta, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Life Care Center of Sparta. He was born Sunday, May 16, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan. The family has chosen cremation. No services are scheduled at this time.

Memorial Services for Ms. Peggy McArthur, 86, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, June 7, at 6:00 pm at Dyer Funeral Home. McArthur died Monday, June 3, 2019 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta, TN. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Brother Mark Teason will officiate.

Funeral services for Mary Dean Clemons, 87, of Baxter will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Massey officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Clemons passed away on Tuesday evening, June 4, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 23, 1932 in Cookeville to the late Tom and Carrie Thompson Mathis. Mary was a life-long member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Baxter. Her family includes her son Mark Clemons of Baxter; grandson, Joshua Clemons and wife Taylor of Paoli, IN; sisters, Jimmie McKinney, Sue Davis, Helen “Cricket” Boyd, Frankie Williams, Karen Cole; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Elrod; and her brother, Tommy Mathis. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00pm-8:00pm, and again on Saturday from 10:00am until time of services at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Delores Chilton Taylor Smith, age 77, of Jackson, and formerly of Overton County, will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Randy Pickens will officiate. Burial will be in the Fellowship Cemetery. Mrs. Smith passed from this life on Tuesday morning, June 4, 2019, from Forest Cove Nursing and Rehab Center in Jackson. She was born on September 5, 1941, to the late Marshall and Berta Wright Chilton. Helen leaves behind her son Marlon Taylor of Jackson; brothers Billy Chilton and wife Danya of Allons, Bobby Chilton and wife Ann of Allons, and Denny Chilton and wife Elizabeth of Allons; sisters Diane Ferrell and husband Bruce of Plano, TX; granddaughter Olivia Chappell and husband Jerel; great grandson Pierce Chappell; sister-in-law Lydia Chilton; and aunt Willa Wright. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Helen Delores Smith was preceded in death by her first husband Marion B. Taylor, second husband Varney Smith, and brother Ricky Chilton. The family will welcome friends on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Harold E. “Hut” Hutchings, age 79 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 8, 2019 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Hut passed away Tuesday Evening, June 4, 2019 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center.  He was born November 19, 1939 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Malcolm and Nancy Steele Hutchins.  He was also preceded in death by his 2 sisters:  Othena Kinnard and Marvine Stanley. Hut was a Shipping Manager at local manufacturing plants.  Also a member of the Bon Air Methodist Church and a Avid Fan of University of Tennessee Sports. He is survived by his daughters:  Patty Day & husband Dean of Cookeville and Lori Livesay & husband Buddy of Sparta; Granddaughter:  Kayla Mitchell & husband Chuck of Livingston; 2 Great-Grandsons:  Cade and Colt Mitchell; Former Wife:  Betty Hutchings of Sparta; Along with several Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 8pm on Friday evening.  Bro. Rodney Ritchie will officiate the services.

Funeral Services For Belinda “Boo” Bowman, Age 54, Of Crossville, Will Be Conducted On Sunday, June 9, 2019, At 2:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. David Harris Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Bethlehem Cemetery In Livingston. Ms. Bowman Was Born On June 27, 1964, In Crossville, To The Late Domer Bowman And Frances Lee Dishman Bowman Fletcher Of Crossville. Ms. Bowman Passed Away On Thursday, June 6, 2019, At Her Sister’s Home In Cookeville. Ms. Bowman Was A CNA, A Homemaker, And Of The Baptist Faith. In Addition To Her Mother, Frances Fletcher Of Crossville; She Is Survived By Her Son And Daughter-In-Law, Jeremy And Meagan Bilbrey Of Crossville; Granddaughter, Chloe Bilbrey; 4 Sisters And 2 Brothers-In-Law, Glenda And Roger Bilbrey Of Cookeville, Janice Bawgus Of Crossville, Wanda And Jim Keagle Of Cookeville, Jennifer Bowman Of Chattanooga; 3 Brothers And A Sister-In-Law, Gary Bowman Of Crossville, Delmer And Kellie Bowman Of Baxter, Terry Bowman Of Algood. In Addition To Her Father, She Was Preceded In Death By Her Stepfather, Ralph Fletcher. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Saturday, June 8, 2019, From 5:00 PM Until 8:00 PM.

A funeral mass for Mrs. Catherine Springer, age 99 of Sparta, will be held Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2pm at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Mrs. Springer passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born Friday, December 19, 1919 in Westerville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Albert Skees and the late Minnie Bryant Skees. She was a member of St Andrew Catholic Church. Mrs Springer enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Surviving family members include the following: son – Bill Springer and Lucy of Kentucky; daughter – Elaine Stankiewicz and Bob of Pennsylvania; son – Leslie Springer and June of Sparta; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; 3 great-great-great grandchildren; sister – Virginia Raffoele of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, Mrs Springer was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Springer; daughter, Loretta Swank; grandson, Hugh Springer. The family will receive friends Monday, June 10, 2019, from 11am until 1pm in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St Andrew Catholic Church.

Celebration of Life for Judy Irene Davis, 69 of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
Davis passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. Judy was born Tuesday, November 1, 1949, in Gainesboro, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late James and Colleen (Stafford) Barefield. Judy was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was an RN for many years, serving as Director of Nurses at several facilities in the Houston, Texas area. She loved to read and cook for others. Judy was loved by all that knew her and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 11, 2019, from 10:00 am until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life for James (Jim) Harold Moore, 74 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Maston Jackson officiating. Inurnment will be on Friday, June 14 at Cookeville City Cemetery at 11:00 am. Jim,born July 3, 1944 in Cookeville, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend passed away into the arms of our Creator God the Father June 3, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center Hospital.  He was a retired Army Veteran and was awarded 2 Purple Heart medals. He was dearly loved and will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife Donna Moore and his three daughters Sarah L Moore of Texas. Kathrine Harris and her husband Randy Harris and Rebekah Wilson and her husband Robert Wilson. Eight grand children Sasha Moore, Tyler Cross and his wife Katrina Cross, Ashley Reynolds, Levi Colwell and his wife Elaina Colwell, Stephen Real and his fiance Jade Tripp, Michael Harris, Mary Harris and eight great grandchildren Mackenzie Reynolds, Bobby Lee Reynolds, Destiny Reynolds, Paisley Reynolds, Aden Colwell, Harmony Cross, Atticus Real and the soon to be Miss Melanie Colwell. He and his family attended Hamptons Crossroads Baptist Church of Cookeville for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Moore and Edith Robinson; and his brothers, Warren K Moore and Gene Moore.
