Obituaries For Friday, July 12

Arlen Dillard Rice, age 82 of Sparta, passed away on Friday morning July 12, 2019 at Hospice of Cumberland County. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Graveside services for Patricia Sue Farmer Wilson, age 70 of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Patricia left her earthly body to be reunited with the love her her life on July 9, 2019. Patricia was born on January 10, 1949 to Juanita Marie Cline Farmer in Crossville. She was raised by her loving and faithful grandparents Oscar Smith Cline and Myra Lee Sauceman Cline. Patricia married the love of her life Paul Harrison Wilson on May 21, 1966. They lived in Sparta and owned WTZX radio station until Paul’s death on March 24, 1991. Patricia will forever be remembered as a fighter and survivor. She adored her grandchildren and dedicated the past 22 years to showering them all with her love and affection. Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents, maternal aunt Nanny Sue Bumbalough, sister Kathy Farmer and her loving husband.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gladys Helen Greer Garrett, age 90, of Livingston will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Rev. Craig Green will officiate. Burial will be in the Garrett Cemetery. Mrs. Gladys passed from this life on Wednesday evening, July 10, 2019 from the Blakeford at Green Hills. She was born in Smith County on May 12, 1929 to the late Johni Riley & Mary Jane Barlow Greer. Gladys enjoyed gardening, quilting and cross stitching. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gladys leaves behind her daughters, Judy Eldridge & husband Mitch of Crossville, Sue Jones & husband David of Nashville, Patsy Basin & husband Roger of Mission Viejo, CA, and Fay Garrett of Brentwood; grandchildren, Jeff, Matt, Keli, Garrett & wife Lauren, Jason, and Derek & wife Lauren; great-grandchildren, Violet, Kayla, and Nolan. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Cole Garrett; brother, Buddy Greer; and sisters, Annie Wilson, Lucille Bilbrey, Arxie Dishman, and Lorene Talley. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life for Linda Louise (Ganson) Moore, 71 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Linda passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. Linda was born Thursday, July 17, 1947, in Springfield, Ohio and she was the daughter of the late James Elias and Virginia (Worix) Ganson. Linda was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Linda is survived by: 2 Sons: Richard and Charity Moore, James Moore; 6 Grandchildren; Sister: Carol Blair. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by Daughter, Sandra Moore; Sister, Brenda Bingham, and Brother, Eugene “Buck” Ganson. Dr. Jerry Huffman Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Dunn Was Born On September 9, 1925, In Monterey, Tennessee, To The Late Robert And Ruth Nichols Dunn. Mr. Dunn Passed Away On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, At His Home. Mr. Dunn Was Retired From NASA, Where He Worked On the Saturn V Rocket And The Space Shuttle. He Was A Clockmaker, Baptist In Faith, And A World War II Navy Veteran. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By His Wives, Maxine Farmer Dunn And Cola Price Dunn; Siblings, Gramp, Pip, George, Tom, Mary Dunn Groh, Edith Dunn Irvine (Sis), Luke, And An Infant Sister. Funeral Services for Mr. David Ross Oakley, age 79, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Caleb Samson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mr. David Oakley passed from this life on Thursday, July 11, 2019 in the comfort of his home. He was born August 12, 1939 in Overton County to the late Willie & Lela Norrod Oakley. David was a graduate of Livingston Academy and a member of the Allons Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling, camping, boating skeet shooting, and listening to music. David loved going to church at Allons Church of Christ and talking with people on the phone. David leaves behind his sister, Diann Oakley Harvey & husband Roger of Livingston; brothers, Billy Oakley & wife Brenda of Cookeville, and Hughie Oakley & wife Cathy of Dry Oakley Community; several nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Louise Smith Oakley, and his second wife, Wilma Epling Oakley; niece, Vickie Harvey Worley. The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Ms. Bryant Was Born On November 6, 1972, In Santa Fe Springs, California, To The Late David Henry And Sharon Jewel Bryant. Ms. Bryant Passed Away On Wednesday, July 10, 2019, At The Select Specialty Hospital In Nashville, Tennessee. Ms. Bryant Was A Waitress, Homemaker, And Baptist In Faith. She Is Survived By Her Fiancé, James “Eddie” Gentry Of Cookeville, TN; 3 Daughters, Ashley Garrett, Briana Gammill, And Chelsea Gammill All Of Englewood, FL; Granddaughter, McKenzie Lynn Waring; Stepchildren, Nicole Wylie, Tyler Gentry, And Flora Gentry All Of Cookeville, TN; 2 Sisters, Sharon Martin Of Ft. Funeral Services for Donald Edward Rice, 71 of Sparta, will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Military Honors provided by the Veteran’s Honor Guard. Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Donald passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Tennessee Veteran’s Home in Murfreesboro. He was born Tuesday, November 4, 1947 in Hazard, Kentucky. He was the son of the late James Rice and Dorothy Kilburn Rice. Donald served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and he was a retired Police Chief. He was a member of FOP in Cookeville, Cookeville Corvette Club, Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio, Masonic Lodge F&AM of Ohio, and the International Association Chief of Police ICAP in Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Father-in-Law, Willie Lee Selby. Survivors include: His Wife of 53 years- Sandra Selby Rice of Sparta; Son- Donald Edward Rice II (Beth) of Columbus, OH; Grandchildren- Donald Edward Rice III, Preston J. Rice, and Hunter Charles Rice of Columbus, OH; Mother-in-Law- Jo Evelyn Maggart (Selby) Watson of Sparta. The family will welcome friends from 12pm until time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Services for Mrs. Deborah West, age 67 of Cookeville, will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Mrs. West passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Wednesday 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
