Obituaries For Friday, February 28

Mrs. Regina Lawson, age 57 of Baxter died Friday February 28, 2020 at 9:20 a.m. in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Jean Bean Way, 86, of Bloomington Springs, will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Union Hill – Flatt Cemetery on Shepardsville Hwy. in Jackson County. She passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born April 9, 1933, in Jackson County, to the late Edgbert Bean and Cora Belle Putty Bean. She worked at Wilson’ s Sporting Goods where she was a seamstress, and was the owner of Way’s Custom Shop. She was a member of the Sycamore Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her First Husband: Litton C. Way; her Husband of 45 years: Jim “Von” Way; 1 Brother: Truman Bean; 5 Sisters: Pauline Brown, Anna Jackson, Lillian Phillips, Marie Eckel, and Francis Buckner; and 1 Niece: Joyce Hanaway. Survivors include 2 Daughters: Joy (Gary) Fox of Bloomington Springs, and Anita (Danny) Nichols of Cookeville; 3 Step Sons: Kim (Sandra) Way of Cookeville, Kerry (Gethyn) Way of Munising, MI, and Kevin (Lisa) Way of Midland, MI; 1 Step Daughter: Brenda (Fred) Bratumil of Novi, MI; 13 Grandchildren: Bryann, Heather, Rachel, Daniel, Jamie, Heidi, Rebecca, Molly, Kyle, Trent, Ambre, Katie, and Amy; several Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters: Wanda Frizzell and Estelle (Paul) Pippin, all of Cookeville; 1 Brother in Law: Coy Buckner; 2 Nieces: Pat Damron of Ohio and Regina Buckner of Monterey; and 2 Nephews: Patrick and Phillip Pippin, both of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and again on Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral Services for Katherine Marie (Todd) Clark, age 75, of Algood will be held on Saturday at 12:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Alvin Copeland Officiating. The Pallbearers for the service will be Dr. Andrew Todd, Dr. Benton Jay Todd, Gordon Clark, Michael Clark, Brandon Davenport and David Price. The Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery in the Alpine Community of Overton County. Katherine was born on September 24, 1944 in Overton County, TN to the late Robert Daily and Gladys Ellen Smith Todd of the Alpine Community. She passed away on February 25, 2020 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral home on Friday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Saturday from 11:00am until time of services at 12:00pm.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Carolyn Smith, 72 of Cookeville will be held Saturday February 29 at 1 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Steve Tiebout will officiate. Mrs. Smith’s family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Carolyn died suddenly Wednesday February 26, 2010 at her home. She was born Tuesday December 29, 1947 in Smith County, Tennessee to the late James and Lois Bradley Warren. She was a retired Associate of Adams USA; a member of Midway Baptist Church; and attended The River Community Church. Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Scott Correll of Cookeville and Kathy and Brad South of Galveston, TX; three grandchildren, Jerrod South, Samuel Correll and Anna Kate Correll; and four great children, Dane, Zander, Jayce, and Hadley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mended Hearts Chapter 127 One Medical Center Blvd Cookeville, TN 38501

Funeral services for Wendall Monroe Bricker, age 64, of Cookeville, will be Saturday February 29 at 3 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Don Schmidt will officiate. His family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until time of services. Wendall passed away Wednesday February 26, 2020 at home. He was born July 9, 1955 in Louisville, KY to the late Robert Bricker and Pauline Alsup Bricker. Wendall was the Quality Assurance Manager at Tutco with over 25 years of service. He was an avid UT Vols fan and loved animals. Wendall was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Holly Stephan Bricker, whom he married September 15, 1979 in Paris, TN; three daughters, Wendy Schmidt (husband, Sam) of Knoxville, Courtney Bricker-Anthony (husband, Christopher) of Memphis, and Katie Victoria Bricker of Cookeville; sister, Kathy Campbell (husband, Jerry) of Harrogate, TN; five grandchildren, Morgan, Robert Wendall, Regan, Hayden Schmidt, and Ian Anthony; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Glenda Stephan of Big Sandy,TN. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, TN 38501.

Funeral services for Kimberly Cole, age 60 of Sparta, will be conducted 3pm Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Old Country Church in Doyle with burial in Anderson Cemetery. Kimberly, wife of Charles V. (Dave), passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of February 26, 2020 at their new home in Sparta. Kim and Dave were married on August 16, 1986 by the late Pastor Billy Hawkins of the Old Country Church in Doyle. They enjoyed an incredible 32+ years of marriage. Kim was a member and children’s Sunday School teacher at the Old Country Church, now pastored by Reverend Nathan Hawkins of Doyle. Kim lived her life to the fullest, though she was at her happiest when surrounded by children. She raised seven children – her son Thuan, James and Joseph Cole, David and Jessica Brimer, Jeff and Joseph McCloud. She was preceded in passing by her son Thuan, sister Judy, mother Margie, and father John Birschkus. She is survived by her husband Dave; children James, Joseph, Jeff, Joey, David and Jessica; grandchildren Hunter, Kara, Joslynn, Kyra and Ezri; sister Marsha; brother Joe; as well as Patty Ponce of Las Cruces, New Mexico. The family will receive friends Friday after 3:30pm at the church.

A Memorial Service for Mary Alice Long, 66 of Sparta, will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Doyle Church of the Nazarene with Tracy Curtis officiating. She passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020, at her home. She was born on Wednesday, June 10, 1953 in Doyle, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Unice Ward Simmons. Mrs. Mary liked sports, playing softball, and to dance. She loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death be her son, Edward Davis, and her sisters, Barbara Denton and Kay Simmons. Survivors include: Her loving Husband of 42 years- Jerry Long of Sparta; Daughter- Jennifer Lee (Charlie) of Sparta; Grandchildren- Dustin Bennett (Layna) and Austin Bennett of Sparta; Great-Grandchildren- Gavin Bennett, Ivy Bennett, Declan Bennett, Gwen Summers, Flissity Summers, and Alexander Bennett; Sister- Glenda Young (Gary Hopkins) of Spencer; Good Friend and Neighbor- Elly Conard; Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 11am until time of the service at the church.

Graveside services for James A. Johnson, 73, of Gainesboro, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the McCurry Cemetery in Burnsville, NC. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at his residence. He was born September 21, 1946, in Detroit, MI, to the late Aaron P. “Buck” Johnson and Irene Vickers Meadows. He was married to the late Wilma Johnson, who passed away March 7, 2014. He was factory worker, and attended the Spring Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by Brother: Gary Johnson. Survivors include 3 Daughters: Sandy (David) Stafford, Shawn Edna (Anthony) Durham, and Misty (Robert) Chaffin, all of Gainesboro, TN; 7 Grandchildren: Victoria (Dustin) Head, James Pitman, Wilson Durham, Lilly Chaffin, Emma Chaffin, Bella Chaffin, and CeCe Chaffin; 1 Great Grandchild: David Reed Head; and 1 Brother: Bob Johnson of Gainesboro, TN. Rev. Denny Wilson will officiate at the services.

Graveside Services for Paul Garrison, age 81 of Cookeville will be held March 28, 2020 at Boma Cemetery. He passed from this Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Monday, March 28, 1938 in Gainesboro, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Vestel and Annie (Ramsey) Garrison. Paul was a Machinist and retired from Clawson, Michigan. The family has chosen cremation.
