Mr. Kenneth G. Young, age 74 of Sparta, passed away Friday morning, August 2, 2019 at his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Jack Burdette, age 67, of Cookeville, passed away Thursday evening July 29, 2019 at his residence in Cookeville. No services are scheduled at this time.

Jimmy Cordell Pugh, Age 90, Of Monterey, Passed Away On Thursday, August 1, 2019. Funeral Arrangements Are Incomplete.

A Celebration of Life Service for Charles William Rogers, 63 of Silver Point, will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. A Private Family Gathering will be held at a later date. He passed from this life Monday, July 29, 2019, at his home in Silver Point. He was born Monday, July 9, 1956 in Cocoa, Florida. He was the son of the late William Rogers and the late Elizabeth Lusk. Charles was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He worked over 30 years as a motorcycle mechanic, and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was also an excellent auto mechanic and body repairman. He played at hunting but never brought home anything.

Public visitation for Rozelle Ramsey Presley, age 96 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday at Whitson Funeral Home from 10:00AM-12:30PM. Private Graveside Service Saturday at 1:00PM. She was born in McMinnville, TN on December 11, 1923. After a few years, the Ramseys moved their family to Cookeville, where Rozelle would spend the rest of her days. She married Walter Ernie Presley, Sr. in 1944, and had 3 children, who she adored. Being from a large family, Rozelle learned the value of hard work at an early age. Whether it was working on the farm, in a factory, or in the Cookeville High School cafeteria, she was diligent and reliable. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and in later years was also active at Caney Fork Baptist Church. Rozelle was an excellent cook and you could never leave her house without eating a meal. She and Ernie shared a love of farming and continued farm work up until Ernie’s death in 2010. Rozelle loved to listen to Bluegrass Gospel music, quilt, and be in the country. Rozelle was extremely proud of her family, and always had that little twinkle of mischief in her eye.

Funeral services for Beulah (Mo) Moline Cravens, age 91, of Sparta, will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Robinson Chapel Cemetery. She passed away July 31, 2019 at her home. She was born on September 9, 1927, in White County to Willie Allen England and Roxie Lee Cooper England. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 66 years, Morgan “Junior” Cravens Jr, son, Dennis Earl Cravens, brothers and sisters, Margaret Webb, Vernell Mackie, Carol Oakley, Doc England, Edward England, Charles England and Haston England. Survivors include her sons, Jerry Morgan Cravens and wife Vicki and Robert Lee Cravens all of Sparta; daughter, Barbara June Duke of Sparta; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; host of great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.

Graveside Services for Ms. Marsha Lynn Reeder, age 50, of McMinnville and formerly of Overton County, Tennessee will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 from the Philander Smith Cemetery. Bro. Randy Pickens will officiate. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Marsha passed from this life on Wednesday afternoon, July 31, 2019 in Murfreesboro. She was born April 20, 1969 in Overton County to the late Joyce Smith Stephens. Marsha was Christian in Faith and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed picnics, family get togethers, cats, and her Granny Smith.

Funeral services for James “Monkey Man” Herbert Hutson, 63 of Sparta, will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Eugene Shrum officiating. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery. James passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at his home. He was born Sunday, March 11, 1956 in Sparta, he was the son of Cora Holtzclaw and the late Kenneth Hutson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by in-laws, Jim and Ethelene Miller. Survivors include: Wife- Neva Hutson; Daughter- Paige Hutson; Sons- Dallas Hutson and Keaton Steele; Mother- Cora Holtzclaw; Grandchildren-Kaiden and Layla; Brother- Richard (Joan) Hutson; Sisters- Reba (Bob) Gentry and Jeanette Tenpenny; Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. The family will welcome friends from 4-8pm on Friday, August 2, 2019 and again on Saturday morning from 8am until time of the service at the funeral home.

Funeral Services for John Alfred Johnson, age 63 of Dayton, OH, formerly of Cookeville, will be held 1 pm Saturday, August 3. 2019 at Hooper Huddleston, and Horner Funeral Home, 59 N. Jefferson Ave., Cookeville, TN. Officiant from McClellan Ave. Church of Christ presiding. Visitation 11am-1pm, Interment Algood Cemetery. He was born September 3, 1955 in Cookeville, TN, departed this life Friday, July 19, 2019. John was a member of the Residence Park Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Miss Alyssa Ann Booher, age 18 of Livingston, will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Mineral Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, August 2nd Starting at 4 PM until 9 PM then on Saturday morning starting at 9 AM until service time at 2 PM. with Bro. Kevin Sexton and Bro. Isaiah Booher officiating the service. She passed from this life on Friday, July 26, 2019. Miss Alyssa Ann Booher was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on August 1, 2000 to Eddie Ray Booher and Shelia Wallace Jones. Alyssa was a Correctional Officer and was a member of the Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Alyssa was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Celebration of Life Gathering for Danny Conrad Smith, 63 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, August 4, 2019, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Danny passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Danny was born Thursday, May 24, 1956, in Jackson County. He was the son of Lonnie Ray Smith and the late Thelma “Jean” (Boles) Smith. Danny was a loving brother, father, and grandfather. He worked for Averitt Express for over 40 years. Danny was an avid golfer, loved the lake, and spending time with his family. Danny is survived by: Daughter: April and Brandon Nelson of Mt. Juliet;2 Grandchildren: Emma and Evan Nelson; Father: Lonnie Smith; Sister: Brenda and David Ellis; Brother: Michael and Tammy Smith; 3 Half Siblings: Johnny and Tim Smith, and Terri Russell; Special Cousin: Gail Pennington; A host of nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to his mother, Danny was preceded in death by Brother, Rick Smith.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Agnes Geneva Booher Carter, age 83, of the Taylor’s Crossroads Community of Monroe will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Richardson Cemetery. Mrs. Geneva passed from this life in the comfort of her home on Sunday Afternoon, July 28, 2019. Geneva leaves behind her husband, Stanley R. Carter Sr.; sister, Betty Jean Booher Burks; sons, Dr. Willie Joe Carter & wife Luba, Jimmy Walter Carter & wife Janie, Dr. Johnnie Clarence Carter & wife Sherry, and Stanley Carter Jr. & wife Chanda; daughter, Mary Jean Carter Jolley & husband Tom; grandsons, Michael Carter, Jackson, Carter, Cullen Carter, Christian Brown, and Stanley Carter III; granddaughters, Amanda Phipps Taylor, Sandy Carter, Jade Carter Cross, Betsy Jolley, Kristen Carter, Bailey Carter, and Cassie Carter; great-grandchildren, Emily Taylor Sherman, Evelyn Taylor, Cambrie Cross, Carter Cross, Emmitt Ogletree, and Garrett Jolley. Geneva came from a rather large family that consisted of two brothers and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Chris Junior Booher, Wayne Edward Booher; sisters, Joyce Leallice Danner, Evelyn Marie Mathis, Pansy Louise Booher and Geraldine Booher. Geneva was also preceded in death by one child, Wilma Joan Carter Brown Dennis; and two grandsons, Jonathan Corey Phipps and Benjamin “Ben” Fredrick Jolley. The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening, August 3, 2019 from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Mr. Phillips Was Born On October 5, 1943, In The Mineral Springs Community Of Overton County, To The Late Joseph And Daisy Mae Smith Phillips. Mr. Phillips Passed Away On Thursday, August 1, 2019, At Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Phillips Was Retired From McCord In Cookeville, And Former Owner/Operator, With His Brother, Of Phillips Auto Sales. He Was Baptist In Faith. He Is Survived By His Son And Daughter-In-Law, Earl And Becky Phillips Of The Dry Hollow Community; Grandchildren, Shelley And Trystan Kimel Of Knoxville, Courtney And Jerry Wilson Of The Dry Hollow Community, Ethan Phillips Of The Dry Hollow Community; Stepgrandson, Wayne And Sara Brown Of Monterey; Great Grandchildren, Brycen, Bennett And Beau Wilson, Tanner And Tenley Brown; Sister, Anna Pearl Whittaker Of Monterey; Brothers, Doyle Phillips Of Anderson, IN, Donnie Phillips Of The Mineral Springs Community. Funeral Services for Mr. Bill Thomas, age 87, of Livingston, will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2019 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. Danny Staggs will officiate. Burial will follow in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Mr. Bill Thomas passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019, at the Overton County Health & Rehabilitation Center in Livingston. Bill is survived by son, Doug Thomas and wife, Renee, of Livingston; daughter, Penelope Brown and husband, Chuck, of Cookeville; sister, Nell Sells of Livingston; 5 grandchildren, Maggie Bullock, Trey Thomas, Ashleigh Auberson, Lincoln Brown and Kaitlyn Brown; 5 great-grandchildren, Miles Bullock, Anthony Auberson, Riley Calder, Charlie Brown and Hunter Brown, as well as a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing. The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening, from 5 until 9 p.m., then on Sunday from 8 a.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Flat Creek Cemetery.

Funeral Services for Joanne Birdwell, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Double Springs Cemetery. She passed from this life on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. Joanne was born Monday, March 25, 1935, in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Houston Monroe Palk and the late Martha Kamazama (Dyer) Dye. Joanne was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a wonderful woman with a heart of gold and she will be missed by all that knew her. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, and from 9:00 am until time of service on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
