Warren Schools Projects Making Headway

Several projects making headway in the Warren County School System.

Director of Schools Grant Swallows said the system has tried to be strategic about how it uses its ESSER funds. He said one of the big projects it undertook was improvements at Warren County Middle School, including a roof replacement.

“That building was built in the 1950s, its roof has been replaced a couple of times,” Swallows said. “But ultimately we know when roofs are not in good working order, and leaks are happening, that creates bad air quality and lots of health concerns for everybody in that building.”

Swallows said the school’s windows were replaced to improve air quality. In addition, the school had renovations done on its bathrooms to make the bathrooms more up to code. Swallows said Warren County Middle School will also get a new addition to build out a nurse’s office and create a better entrance to the facility.

Swallows said funds were also used at Eastside Elementary to eliminate its portable classrooms. He said they built four additional classrooms.
