Warren Schools Performing Salary Study

Warren County Schools has begun the process of conducting a salary study for faculty and staff.

Director of Schools Grant Swallows said through this process a team has been reviewing salaries from surrounding counties, including DeKalb, White and Putnam Counties.

“We need to get that salary schedule updated and maybe a little more competitive with the people around us,” Swallows said. “And we think with this new funding model, the TISA model that we’re going to be able to do that. But I also don’t believe in doing anything half-heartedly.”

Swallows said they need to make sure the information will work with the budget. In addition, he said the school system has several schedules that cover a variety of designations, so it’s important to take the time to figure out how efficiently compensate employees.

Swallows said because they want to ensure all of the information is accurate and well-studied, the process could take some time. He said they are hopeful to have the data back before next year so the board can decide on how to move forward.
