VEC To Help Monterey With Interstate Lighting Project

Monterey will receive some help with a project to repair part of its Interstate 40 lighting system.

Mayor Bill Wiggins said the traveling public took out at least three of the lights over the past six years.

“Then, just two months ago, somebody was getting off I 40 eastbound at 300 and they chose to take another one out. So we have four of those lights out,” Wiggins said. “This latest one not only took the lamp post out, but it did something to the wiring. None of those lights will burn now. ”

Wiggins said VEC representative Bobby Randolph has agreed to replace the lights and take care of the wiring problem. Wiggins still doesn’t know how much the project will cost.
