Van Buren Precautions: Zero Confirmed Cases

Van Buren County officials conduct daily wellness checks on residents in an effort to ensure the health and safety of the community.

County Mayor Greg Wilson said officials check via phone call or Facebook.

“We started our list with people, especially the elder, who do not get out as much,” Wilson said. “We are doing wellness checks with them, and in fact, we started wellness checks with everybody through the county.”

Wilson said Van Buren County started a coronavirus hotline for residents who may need transportation or food during the safer at home executive order. Call at 931-946-3590.

“We just ask everybody to respect the Governor’s safer at home order,” Wilson said. “Its tough on people right now and interrupted their way of life, but we are going to get through this.”

The Van Buren Health Department conducts free tests Monday thru Friday 1-3 p.m. Wilson said residents exhibiting symptoms should call the health department at 931-946-2438.

“Lord willing, Van Buren won’t have a case,” Wilson said. “I am not saying we won’t, but the odds are we will. We will deal with that and take care of those people as much as we possibly can.”

The Health Department has tested 16 people with all results coming back negative. There are currently zero confirmed cases for the county.
