Van Buren County Ag Extension will welcome new 4-H agent Shelby Boyer on September 1.
Boyer said during her time working in Trousdale County, her goal was always to do this work back at home. Boyer said her passion for 4-H comes from opportunities kids get to be highlighted across the state.
“Citizenship and the leadership and even the service opportunities that 4-H provides for our kids,” Boyer said. “So they get to learn things within the community, outside of the community and other counties and even in the whole state. Which I think is probably the best part of it all, so that way they can see the whole broad picture of how 4-H makes the impact.”
Boyer said she hopes to lead 4-H students to the highest levels.
“They have multiple opportunities, whether it’s through 4-H Congress Service Projects, All-Star Conferences,” Boyer said. “Even being involved and being able to interact with people in the politics world, like the governor. They get to have a big, wide realm within the whole entire state which I think is amazing.”
Boyer said she wants to get herself established in the county, and become familiar with all the agriculture opportunities Van Buren County offers. She said she will focus on creating service projects this fall and during the Christmas season.
