Van Buren’s American Legion Post will host a Back the Blue fundraiser breakfast Saturday morning.
Funds will be used to purchase AirMed memberships for Van Buren police. AirMedCare Sales Manager Robert Keen said the membership covers the cost of being flown in an emergency aircraft.
“If someone is ever flown via emergency aircraft, such as Erlanger Life Force 2 in the area, the bill can potentially be thousands and thousands of dollars,” Keen said. “But, with the membership program, that supports the local base.”
Keen said the American Legion started the breakfast to show its support for law enforcement during hard times. Each membership covers an entire household.
“It is very inexpensive, and it just makes sense,” Keen said. “It is a tough time for police officers and deputies, and the American Legion wants them protected.”
The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to sponsoring the community and advocating patriotism. Keen said people can stop by American Legion Post 207 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Spring Street to buy their fresh breakfast.
Breakfast includes pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, muffins, coffee, milk, juice, and eggs made to order. Meals will cost $7.00. Children 12 and under cost $5.00.
