Various Upper Cumberland Schools continue to report normal enrollment rates for the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.
Bo Magnusson is the Attendance Supervisor for Cumberland County Schools.
“We are at 7,309 but we do know that is increasing, we are still entering in student data as we speak. So we know that number is going to go up,” Magnusson said. “At the end of the year, last year, we were at 7, 317. So it is very very close but again that is at the end of the year, measuring students coming in and students leaving.”
Overton County has approximately 3,032 students enrolled, an increase from of 43 students compared to last school year.
Wayne Sells is the Overton County Attendance Supervisor.
Sells said the school has seen a number of students moving into the area.
“Sometime during the year, we may see a drop in enrollment usually ten to fifteen kids. And during those breaks, we have an increase of ten to fifteen kids that have moved in during Christmas time,” Sells said. “Or in times when they can get a chance with school shut down time to move. But we have kids moving in all during the year. And again a lot of times it is for job relocation with their parents going to work somewhere local.”
Similarly, White County reported a consistent rate of approximately 4 thousand students.
