UCHRA Adds Algood To Bus Route

The Upper Cumberland Human Resources Agency (UCHRA) added Algood to their Ride and Go Upper Cumberland public transit route.

City administrator Keith Morrison said the bus makes a round trip from Cookeville to Algood in one hour.

“It is a dollar each time you get on the bus. You can ride the bus to the Hub in Cookeville and catch a bus to Nashville or other locations in Cookeville. The Walmart stop is the first return stop coming into Algood. You can call in an hour ahead of time and arrange for a special pick up and they will drive off route and pick you up.”

Bus stops in Algood now include Walmart, Rolling Meadows apartments, Algood housing, the senior center, the library, Quindlan Ridge apartments, Garden Grove apartments, Greenwood Place apartments.

“We think this is a great service for the citizens and we’re excited for the opportunity. The bus ride is free all week so if you want to get on the bus and ride you can take a one hour trip and make the full route and then come back. This will be running routinely, currently it runs Monday through Friday from 8-5.”

UCHRA will provide free rides for residents who donate canned goods to the agency’s food and nutrition program.

Tickets can be purchased at the Hub or at Algood city hall. Disabled and seniors can purchase tickets at half price.
